As a 14-year old, I was inspired by Nadia Comaneci. I tried to write a letter and getting her address during the days of the cold war not easy - I even visited the Romanian embassy in London but they were no help. Eventually I got her address from the Romanian Olympic Federation, and wrote my letter. I sent it off for translation, but my pocket money did not cover the fee - the translation company kindly waived the fee and I finally sent my letter off (I remember I waffled about Zen Buddhism in the letter which was my interest at the time). I never got a reply, and to this day I wonder if she ever read it. But great video, a happy ending and so glad she escaped to freedom in the end.
It is possible that your letter was never delivered to Nadia. All the letters we received from abroad were opened, checked and read. Yes, Bart is no Nadia yet he is The United States most accomplished male gymnast.
