Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked it. I wish I had a trip to Vegas or New York planned so I could get some great street photography shots, but nothing on the books right now for a trip like that.

Took a few notes during this one. I like watching your videos from a photography perspective since I do have some interest in photography but I also watch them to take mental notes of how you make your video come together as a TH-camr. I watch a lot of videos on youtube. Everything from tutorials, to reviews and vlogs and it really doesn't get much better in my opinion than what you are doing here on photographyTV. Very easy to understand and follow along with. There doesn't seem to be a lot done in editing as far as cuts and syncing audio, it seems to be done on the fly as you are recording which is a very cool bonus. Good attention to the details by using the on screen settings and what not. I usually catch myself asking questions in my head and thinking that I am going to ask it in the comments but then a few seconds later you answer the question. So good attention to what the viewer would need to see and hear and not just the information you need to complete your video. For example I was going to ask about hooking up external mics and then you talked about that in depth. You made me want this camera haha! I didn't catch what the price is but you probably mentioned that. If I hadn't seen your other videos Id say you were born to give gear reviews, but I know you have a lot of other things going for your channel as well! Glad I was able to make my way into this video as well with the comment flashing up in the background haha! Thats 2 videos so far for me!
+Kyle Jewell - Thanks Kyle! As far as how I record my videos, I think the key is preparation and having a game plan before I begin recording. Also, for my real - full time job, I have received a lot of training on how to design and give presentations, so that helps, haha.

Thanks Ryan! They certainly do release new versions quickly it seems, but that would probably be too soon considering the V came out less than a year ago. Also, if I were you, you might look at the IV because it looks very similar to the V, but you can get it at a discount compared to the V. I only bought the V because I wanted to review it and knew having the latest version would be important to review. Also, I bought my V from B&H photo's used department and saved some money that way too, so that could possibly help. If you get it, I hope you like it and have a great trip!
Very good video with lots of details but im kinda missing the sample shots from this camera but othwer then that its a pretty good job at reviewing this camera.

Late but just got this camera yesterday. Didnt know about the peak focusing! Good tip! And How do you do with your audio? Sound looks good. Since this one doesn’t have mic input..any recommendations?! 😀

Great video. I have a sony a6000 with the dual lens kit and a 35mm 1.8 prime. I love the prime. But hate traveling with a bag of lenses. Would this new camera be better for me? Or a backwards step? Normally only use camera for holidays partys etc. Cheers
+Tugboat -That's a tough question. I haven't used the a6000 myself, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. I personally would probably stick with what you have since it is a great camera. If you don't want to travel with a lot of different lenses, perhaps you could buy a more versatile lens for the a6000 that could meet your needs. That's where I would probably start if I were you.

Just got the Rx100 V. How make the audio sound higher, I can hardly hear it . Can you adjust the settings?

+Lowrider Hunter - The recording time at 240fps is about 4 seconds. It might be slightly different depending on the other settings.
Good info! I just bought the RX100 V and also bought the AG-R2 adhesive grip for $13.99 at B&H which works well, but really should have been included with the camera, considering how costly it is.
+RufusLeakin - I've heard good things about that grip. Do you like it and was it easy to put on?
Yes, I like it. It's not perfect, but it's much better than without it. And it goes on easily. You just remove the adhesive tape and it adheres very well.
Big improvement on the audio over the IV
I will soon get this Rx100 V and I am interested in the hand grip you use in holding the camera but I don't seem to be able to find it in Amazon. Can you tell me the model of this hand grip? BTW you have done an awesome job in this video.

Great video , I ordered this gear but now I am having a feeling I made a mistake coz I only wanted a compact camera for the sole purpose of photography. Any suggestion please
+piyaji840 - I do believe this camera is great for photography so I think you will be happy with it. I think my comments at the end of the video were probably more of a personal preference that I prefer a DSLR type of camera for photography so if you were originally wanting a compact camera, than I believe you have made an excellent choice. Interesting review ! but i want to buy this for pure photography and im traveling so i dont want to carry my huge dslr nikon d800 and all its lenses , if not this what else should i consider? im looking for something that fits in my pocket and shoots high quality raw images. thanks !
+S K - If a pocket size camera is your goal I think this is probably one of the best. I just struggle to be satisfied with it for photography because I am so used to the controls and lenses of my DSLR, so the point and shoot is a challenge for me personally on the photos. I do like the EVF on the RX100 though. For your situation, you could just weigh the importance of size and if you are comfortable with the single lens and smaller sensor compared to your D800. Another option if you could go a little bigger than pocket size but still quite a bit smaller than your d800 could be a mirrorless setup like the Fuji X-T2. My friend Allen reviewed his on our channel recently and the image quality looked outstanding. Just another idea. Hope it helps.
Awesome video! I have the RX100V and love it. There is one thing that I can't figure out which is how to take control of focusing. Is it possible to completely take over and Manual focus in video and still shot modes on this camera? If so, could you point me in the right direction in regards to how to do so? Thanks again...... 😊👍
Sure thing. To switch to manual focus, press the FN button on the back. Then go to Focus Mode and scroll down to MF. Then you use the ring on the front of the lens to adjust the focus. Make sure you turn on peak focusing as well. I think I covered that in the video so you can see your focus light up. Hope that helps.
Thank You!! How in the world did I miss that under the Fn button?? I turned on the Peaking level for focusing as you suggested in which a lot of area's were lit up. I'll have to dive into this function deeper to find all the in's and out's about it. Thanks again for your help and awesome video!! Ray 😊👍
@@rapaent And bare in mind, in manual you can dial the f-stop in, or dial the shutter speed in while watching the monitor.
In your opinion, what other camera, from a photography standpoint, offers better PQ in that price range?.. also what other point and shoots do you think can offer better PQ?.. thanks
That's tough for me to answer since I don't have experience with any other point and shoots at this time. What's the best compact camera do you recommend for purely photography (not videography) point of view? The Canon g7x?
My gut tells me that would be a good one and it is at a lower price point than the RX100. The RX100 is great, but just hard to justify at the price point for photography only. I honestly don't use a point and shoot only for photography (I use it mainly for video), so I don't have a lot of other experience with other point and shoot cameras for photography. I currently use a DSLR or Mirrorless for all of my photography shots.
PhotographyTV if it's between rx100 V and GX2 , the Sony surely has better IQ. The Canon is nice but has that watercolorish look vs the Sony looking more like a bigger sensor camera. Just wished the Sony had the 100mm range
Dear friend, you almost touched on the work around for continuous shooting in 4K and the ability to plug in an external microphone. *The camera outputs uncompressed 4K from the HDMI socket.* If you *use a 4K capable Atmos Recorder, then you can shoot continuously in 4K with an external Mic plugged into the external recorder !*
I will give that a try! Although my Atmos isn't a 4k capable version it might just do the trick with the microphone like you mentioned. Great idea!

You say you wouldn't recommend for a stills camera, but for similar size what would you recommend for 90% stills 10% video, for picture quality being No 1... ?
+Richard Ault - Good question. I do like this camera for stills. My point in the video about not recommending it was primarily due to the high price. If price isn't a concern, then this can be a good camera for stills too. As for an alternative that I would recommend for stills, I don't have any experience with other models to be able to make a recommendation. One idea would be for you to consider buying a used Sony RX100 mark 4. That could save you a good amount.

Good friend, greetings from Costa Rica, I want to know a data about the sony camera RX100 V (M5), basically when recording in 4K, how many minutes of video in 4K I can record and how many videos can I record, since the (M4) alone Recorded 5 minutes and when recording a video followed after a minute was heating up and went out, it will be that the (M5) continues with the same problem, Thank you very much for your help.

5 minutes is still the first recording time for the M5. I'll see if I can run a test to answer your question about how long a follow up video could go before heating up again.

2023 I just bought this for $500 on ebay. All I want is photographs on hikes. Most people are using it for video, which is interesting, but not to me.

sure or probably it could be that is the deep of field effect that cause that noise effect in low light? or dark spots?
i record on slog2 or that kind of noise is normal of i should change something on the camera.

It would be cheap for Sony to add an input jack for external mic. And a headphone jack. But they dont. Because they want to sell more expensive cameras.
