Thumbs up for mentioning the lack of touch screen. We need a fast enough way to select the autofocus point. Currently that's the Achilles heal of Sony cameras to me, and I've owned a few.
the flexible spot focus works a lot better on the V than the 6500. on the V you just push the button in the middle of the scroll wheel and it'll let you move the AF point around. on the 6500 you have to go into the menu and select flexible spot and THEN it'll let you move it. Where as the A7R3 has a joystick which makes it SUPER easy.
Great Review and My Parents accepted this for my Go To Camera for Taking Social Media Pictures and Vlogging and they'll buy for me before traveling to Bangladesh
Can i ask how long does a full charge battery last? If let's say i'm using it for a timelapse ? How long can i take a timelapse with a full charge battery... Thanks...
Hi guys thanks for the video camera looks awesome but you mentioned it's not the best and it has competitors. What would currently be better or a similar competitor ?
Hello sir, in the end of ur video you say there is a couple of cameras in the market may be competitive to this sony, can you tell me what are they and who is the best
do you think i can use this camera for filming sports games (long videos)? if not do you have any reconmendation for a compact camera that can film long videos? thanks
Hello, can you please refer the other 2-3 competitors you mentioned on your video? I really like RX100 for capturing family moments, but am skeptical about the lack of touch-screen autofocus on the camera.
If you have a Sony RX100 camera and you want a spare battery charged and at the ready then do like I've done and buy another compact from Sony like the DSC-WX350 then that way you can swap between batteries when the RX100 has run out of charge. Then buy yourself a portable power bank to charge the dead battery in the WX350. This way you have the sophistication of the RX100 combined with the 20 times zoom range of the WX350. 😀
I hate to say this, but does Sean from Digital Direct remind you of a cleaned up David Spade from 'Joe Dirt'? I know, I know. I don't want to sound mean... but whaddya think?
Yeah the money would be good......maybe even 'better' than the munificent sums with which you are surely compensated these days...?. I don't know why I watch these vids.... I can't afford a Mark V.... hmm, how about a digital ELF from 1996 on EBay for $65? More my speed.
What is the point of this camera if you can't carry it in pocket or you could but it wouldn't be really pocket friendly or comfortable to carry? Why not just by dslr?
digiDIRECT thanks for reply! Yeah I'm looking for my first camera, I planned to get the RX100 V to shoot both video and photos, it is best for me but I really like to shoot manual like X100F or Leica M, so I'm not sure should I get RX100 or X100F first since they both expensive. RX100 is hard to shoot manual like X100F but it do cover more type of photography and videography I need
The Sony RX100v is a great camera . . . but £1000 in the UK, rather than $1000. It's let down by its lack of time-lapse facility although one is available as an app via Sony Playmemories. The app isn't as straightforward as the bespoke settings of most other cameras but still does the job. The downside is that the purchase and support comes from Sony Playstation, rather than the camera division. Playmemories was broken when I attempted to purchase using both my credit cards and also PayPal. Playstation support were unable to fix this, and instead suggested I purchased Playstation credits from Amazon. These are only available in multiples of £5, so I was forced to pay even more to buy the app The RX100v is a good camera, but it should have the full functions of cheaper cameras by other brands. Time-lapse is even available on action cams costing $40, or less! And do one should have to waste time wrestling with the Playmemories store and Sony's clunky support.
I find these cameras awful, difficult to use, view screen does not work outdoors, impossible to make sense of the complex menu system. No real manual mode, modes that do nothing I can find . Very fiddly to use , can’t understand how reviewers sing the praises of this maddingly disappointing camera.
Very nice in-depth review, thanks for real-life sample photos, the pros and cons.
Thumbs up for mentioning the lack of touch screen. We need a fast enough way to select the autofocus point. Currently that's the Achilles heal of Sony cameras to me, and I've owned a few.
I am sure they can squeeze a APS-C in there if they want. A Sony version of the Panasonic LX100 with a lot of manual controls and APS-C would be cool.

I think I'm getting this cam over the VI. Do I want a touch screen? Yes, but I like photography and I think a depth of field is important.

Can you shot this camera while powered by AC or from an external powerbank, for example?
Great video. Thanks for doing this review.
should i upgrade from mark 4?
Hi guys thanks for the video camera looks awesome but you mentioned it's not the best and it has competitors. What would currently be better or a similar competitor ?
digiDIRECT thanks for the links and reply.
NIce vid, but I'm pretty sure it's 24-70, not 28-70.
No worries. It was a good vid... But I'm still no closer to deciding if I pull the trigger on it yet :)
Hello sir, in the end of ur video you say there is a couple of cameras in the market may be competitive to this sony, can you tell me what are they and who is the best

Does it stabilization for videos?
do you think i can use this camera for filming sports games (long videos)? if not do you have any reconmendation for a compact camera that can film long videos? thanks

What is the location that you shot in video capturing part?
Hey :) I'm looking to buy a new good quality compact camera. Wondered if you had any thoughts on this one vs the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ100?
It has been a few days. Anything new? I am still torn between the GX7 Mark II, LX10 and RX100 V, What do you think?
Nice Video! Looking for a compact. What other compacts even come close? Thanks
Can do manual focus in video mode?
Does the AF-C work in 24fps?
Hello, can you please refer the other 2-3 competitors you mentioned on your video?
I really like RX100 for capturing family moments, but am skeptical about the lack of touch-screen autofocus on the camera.
Thank you very much. This is very helpful.
Thanks so much for this great informative video!
This camera (5) don't have API remote. Buy other version 2,3,4,6,7...

Does it shoot raw?

Many of the pictures were taken from Bruney Island, Tasmania, Australia hehhh? haha
you know you could double for steve buscemi, lol, even sound like him
Longrider i thought the same thing. I wonder if he is related?
What is the point of this camera if you can't carry it in pocket or you could but it wouldn't be really pocket friendly or comfortable to carry? Why not just by dslr?
It is compact. It's tiny!
Can you carry it in your pocket discreetly?
Amir Amran yes!!
VERY NICE!
The Photos you show here, have been taken in RAW and than developed, or are they OOC JPEGs?
They are JPEG's straight out of camera
Hey thanks for the review.... Wat The price?
Golan lavi note this store is in Australia and so prices will be in Australian dollars www.digidirect.com.au/compact_cameras/sony/sony_dsc_rx100_mk_v
Thanks
Great video. Is it possible to film in a fixed focus (manual), and is there an output for external sound?
No nonsense and articulate.
why is it so expensive? i can get a sony a6000 with 18105 lens with the price
Is this RX100 V mirrorless?
John Jonathan Salud ye duh
Compact camera
Is the Sony RX100 V better than a Leica D-Lux? Thanks for this nice vid!
RX100 V or FujiFilm X100F?
digiDIRECT thanks for reply! I am 99% sure this guy stars in the TH-cam short film 'legend of the blue hole.' by James Rolfe.
Better than Panasonic LX10?
It would want to be. It's $700 more than the Panasonic.
nice vedio thanks
Can anyone please tell me if the RX 100 IV and RX 100 V have the exact same battery???? thanks a lot..
What's Steve Buscemi doing on here?
Focal length (35mm equiv.): 24 - 70 mm
Max. aperture (35mm equiv.): f4.9 - f7.6
You can get the original rx100 for $370 and it's 100mm/f4.9.
Myles Kennedy ?

Good review, but I have to say he looks like pearl jam band member from 1995.
$1,500 for a compact? F&%k me dead!
Trimakasih (Indonesia)
Dude, your hair. 😻😚😉
I don't want a touch screen on my camera!
Good vid! I just dropped a video on something similar, check it out!
This camera is way overpriced in Europe. It costs 1200-1300$.
Terrible hair day

Talks very fast. Slow down and say more.
We're not in the 80's anymore dude. Cut off that hair
