  • Winter can be one of the toughest times to fish so getting skunked is common. On the flip side, winter can produce some epic days of fishing if you hit it right.

    Powerbait tip. Cast out far. Then, move the bait a foot and a half in, every few minutes. If there are trout watching, they won't let it it get away. If you have an ice ledge, cast onto the ice, reel until it falls off. Then repeat the move every few minutes. It's a good way to work an area

    Take a page from steelheading. Use spawn bag netting and magic thread. Pre-made power bait balls cover with netting then trim exces after tying the spawn bags. Most excellent for circle hooks or j hooks. Good luck Chao Faa!

    Worm and marshmallows, with some Mike's glo scent salmon egg juice, or sometimes shrimp oil poured on
    the bait, is also very good for that exact place you're working.
    Powerbait on one, worm and marshmallows on the other.
    We fished those exact waters for many years, those two in tandem will get fish every time.

    The spoon is spinning weird because you have no swivel, so it's just twisting up your line. I like to use a micro steelhead swivel 1ft above my lure. I'll do this with spinners to especially if you are fishing current. Some people instead just use a swivel with a lock at the end of your line that clips onto your lure, makes for quick lure changes but personally I think it works better to instead run a small swivel above.

  • @madtownangler
    @madtownangler ปีที่แล้ว

    The fishing is probably better because the fish are more concentrated when there is less water so they can see/smell whatever the bait sooner.
    We use a metal fence post and a sledgehammer in the sand below my parents house with a bolt welded to it. Then we just screw the rod holder to the post no nuts needed.
    When I lived in Colorado the green glitter power bait and the red bead powerbait worked best. We used the beads in current and the regular green paste in lakes.
    I noticed you don't use swivels on your spinners or spoons that doesn't cause twist?

    With spoons, I'd recommend give it some pauses as you reel in rather than just straight reeling at the same speed all the way in. As well as some twitches, then reel, etc. Replicates a dying baitfish when it flutters to the bottom and then re-starts upon reeling. Try it out! I bet you hook up more. I really enjoyed the video! Carolina rig is so killer too. I feel like folks who fish for trout don't use it enough.

    Have been fishing since I was young and I have noticed that when the water is down, that is that much water that the fish can't be in. So they are forced to be in less water, which means you have a much better chance of the fish seeing your gear. Lets say a river is 60 feet deep normally, but is down 20 feet for weather reasons or whatever... That is 20 less feet that the fish can spread throughout so they are in denser populations.
