    If a manufacturer does zero or little drive and impact testing after assembly, expect the impact force to rise on a new or freshly serviced tool. This is due to excess grease on the surfaces. I acts like a fluid damperer (overly simplified). As you initially use the tool and the internal mechanics fling away excess grease from the surfaces, the force exerted will increase. It shouldn't take a lot of work for that to happen though, unless it has been overpacked.

    I have the 2853? 1/2" I feel mine is weak. Only used it twice but pulled it out and threw on a fresh battery and it struggled to take off some car lug nuts I just put on the day before and torqued to 125lb. I think mine is 600lb in reverse. It struggled.

      Kobalt just up the stake against their competitor Milwaukee Fuel lines by releasing their very own new 24V brushless impact wrench that delivers 650lbs ft out the box.
      I decided to check both the cordless impact wrenches out (Lowes is literally across the street) and I must say, I'm quite impressed.
      The entry price point was absolutely jaw dropping, and it's not even on any special sale. They've been watching HD Milwaukee and now just as them, offer Lithium Ion batterytechnology that are easily swappable with other lines of proprietary brushless tools.
      Power, price and feature of battery swappability was a huge factor in deciding which one to go with and that's easily what had drawn me to milwaukee series of tools.
      Now, it's tough.
      With this new competition, now it boils down to power and price. Kobalt's 650lbs/ft vs Milwaukees 1,000lbs/ft with two variable speed fastening settings is no comparison but for the folks who aren't using these tools in their trade speciality or professional jobsite, Kobalt's ridiculously low price is ahead on this one. Right?
      They even replicated the Home Depot' 5:3 ratio: 5yr tool & 3yr battery warranty. Seriously, the friggin power tools body and shape looks exactly like a Milwaukee 2763 that I was just holding in my hand across the street. Even the battery charger looks the same.
      So where is the catch? There gotta be something. I dunno if it was me but the Kobalt felt beefier and had a all rubber nose surrounding the 1/2" drive. I went over and asked Lowes sales rep about the specs and he pulled the same ones out from the internet that I've already researched night before.
      Here is the weird thing: nut busting is 650 alright but no where does Kobalt mention specify it's fastening capability unlike the M18 fuel series that has all the bragging rights.
      I been watching several of these online tool review for some time and read most comments and it's clear this is very important feature not to overlooked, ESPECIALLY, if Kobalt doesn't offer a two fastening setting. After some time the rep gave up looking because he couldn't find the answer anywhere from Kobalts sources and decided I contact corp and he connected me directly with Kobalt. After 37minutes engaging in futility with different Kobalt reps on the phone playing the run around phone tag I ended up with same result: none of them knew the fastening capability of the impact wrench either, aside from speculating that it 'must be' 650lbs/ft going in each direction.
      Nope. I'm not buying it. I already learned what other commentators went through. I ask them where are the written sources by Kobalt that could see for me myself and it's just not there. Not even on the box.

    I love the idea of cordless tools, but as a hobbyist, I've rarely found cordless tools ready to go when I am. I have a simple 1/4 set from Milwaukee for both impact and drilling, and those are fine for everyday projects. But I've regretted my 1/2 purchase, and ultimately sold it off for better air tools.
    However, 10 years later the battery technology looks a lot better. I might give this high torque impact a shot thanks to the power shown in this review and others about the batteries.

      The 12 volt lithium ion Fuel kits have better performance than the 18 volt NiCad kits from 5 years ago. Cordless tools have come such a long way. I am a carpenter by trade, and the new 7 1/4 Fuel skill saw has completely replaced my old corded circular saws. I can frame all day, and even on 3 amp hour batteries the tool always lasts longer than it takes my other battery to charge. Pretty much my whole kit, all saws and tools, is milwaukee now.

    I have lots of cordless tools and everyone of the batteries degrade over time not in power so much its the time the power is applied that I notice is reduced . can i use mode 2 with a torqur stick? can i use mode 2 for lug nut removal? i just got this tool for my track car. installing arp studs and dont want to ruin anything. also tired of doing countless tire swaps by hand.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't suggest it. The power levels in mode 2 will either ruin the torque stick or your lugs/studs/rim. Torque sticks are made of spring steel & aren't effective over certain amounts of input torque. The 3-speed Dewalt would be a lot better choice (check out the vs vid I made about the dcf899, 2763, & w7150).

    Quick Question: I just recently got a Milwaukee 7263 (my first of the M18 lineup... but I've owned the M12s for a while), have you had to do any maintenance on your 7263? I've heard of the need to lubricate the anvil every so often.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to take the entire tool apart in order to do that.....which will void your warranty. I would suggest watching my video with this impact VS the Snap-on.....in that I show how to do take it apart.

    • @wcrowe75
      @wcrowe75 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Real Tool Reviews I've actually watched that too. I've watched basically all of your Milwaukee videos haha. How frequently have you lubricated yours?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never.....that being said, I don't use it nearly as much as someone who does on a daily basis ---- I would like to see what the inside looks like after 1-2 years of hard use....I bet it would be a lot more worn/dry.

  • @circe801

    i've been researching both the 7263 and the DCF899, and am as of yet undecided. i did see your video comparing those two plus the IR brushless. seeing this kind of gives me an idea which you believe is more durable and better constructed for professional use---am i correct? also, the milwaukee has a much longer warranty period. however, i have been seeing the 7263 offered by different retailers for the same price, but some with 5.0 batts and some with 4.0 batts. would that mean the 4.0s would be the 'old' 2763 and the 5.0s the ;new'?? thanks!!

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the 3 speed/power modes on the Dewalt.....mode 1 on the Milwaukee is fairly useless. The Milwaukee does have the option for a protective boot which is nice, but I would also suggest looking at the Makita XWT08.....it beats them all & has some very good options with it. If you go with the Milwaukee, yes get the 5.0ah versions.....the 4.0ah are "old stock" & those batteries have been sitting AT LEAST a year.

  • @HifiCentret
    @HifiCentret 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe a lot of factors com into place. First of all I'll say that those numbers themselves are no more different than can be explained by manufacturing tolerances alone.
    2nd as another one writes wear in is also a factor. That can be good and bad. Because surfaces gets polished and so slips and hits faster. On the other hand the grease they had when they were new has mostly gone. If you want to relube your impact gun at some point do a test before and after. Wouldn't surprise me if it'll actually loose a little power for a start which it'll regain when grease has been redistributed. However for longevity it's always better with fresh clean grease instead of old full of metal particles.
    Ideally you should have bought two back then and if possible from the same batch. They might "not" have changed anything or so they'll tell you. But many manufacturers do change things internally. Usually they make cost and manufacturing "optimizations" as time goes by even for the same "unchanged" model. Often it's not in the advantage of the buyer unless it's an unlucky model having some design flaws to begin with. And then there's also wear on the manufacturing tools not even to mention it might be the same model but nothing that was used to make your old one has been used to make your new one.

    I liked the video but I'm not sure if it probes anything. The fact that both perform the same doesn't prove that the old one didn't loose power over time. A fair test would be having the numbers of the old one two years ago and the numbers now of the same old one and that would give you a true test.
    This test only proves that an old tool performs as the new tool but doesn't prove that the old one didn't have any deterioration.
    Anyway I like your videos. Thanks!

      valid point, clearly remember, and against Dewalt, it hit 1012,and Dewalt 1014,....... and my Dewalt dw059 1/2" impact, is a joke, was almost a waste of money. ,,,good for changing drive belt's on scooter's, using like a 3/8" cordless. but for anything heavy, even tire's some idiot used an air tool and did not torque,correctly, it can not remove.

      saw a review were the guy said new impacts have to much grease so it takes a while for it to move around before u get full torque.

    Great video👍 thanks for taking the time to put this issue to rest. I can't believe it was an issue anyway, the motor has no brushes to wear and create torque loss. I never believed brushless motors lost power but I am glad you proved it once and for all to shut up the nay sayers.

      BrenticusMaximus1 brushless motors are great, they've held up great in the hobby world where they're pushed harder and they don't degrade. I can remember rebuilding and cleaning my brushed motors and being amazed at the regained power.

    Should do a follow up with the 9.0 battery and see if the numbers increase.

      I'm curious too. I have a couple new 9.0amp batteries and the impact wrench above. I haven't had a chance to see if it has more power. I love this wrench. I haven't found a bolt it can't remove. I guess when i do find that bolt/nut I will have to test the 5.0amp battery and the 9.0amp battery. The 9.0amp battery's came with the new Milwaukee brushless miter saw seems quality too.

    Now you just need to do a longterm Ridgid brad nailer review to throw some shade at AvE's "this AirStrike stuff won't last that long" :)
    I'm fond of Chris' channel, but his "seat of the pants" diss on everything is in stark contrast to your approach in introducing rigour and repeatability to tool testing. It's appreciated.

      As much as I find AvE's stuff funny and entertaining, this only reinforces what I"ve know about the 2763. It's got a ton of power and is reliable, the shop I work for has had one for at least 2 years and it's been beaten to a pulp yet stuff knocks nuts and bolts with ease with it's original XC 4.0 batteries. I just bought one myself with XC 5.0 batteries based on it plus a few other M18 Fuel tools for shop use. Power and reliability count and Milwaukee seems to got it nailed with the Fuel line.

    Hammer always hits harder after grease has been used for a long time for example when you service your impact and put fresh grease in it.It will not hit as hard for awhile
