  • Being one of the very first of the true "study-level" aircraft for Microsoft's Flight Simulator franchise, Ralph Tofflemire and VMAX created an absolute legend of an aircraft expansion in those early days of Flight Sim. Now some two decades later, let's learn how the RFP 747 came to be, how awesome it truly was, and what became of it in the years since its final updates.

This has got to be the most underrated channels in TH-cam history...Seriously your production quality is incredible.
Please don't let the relatively low numbers deter you from posting more content, your channel is a major inspiration

RFP Was a Brilliant addon. I had it and loved it when most were flying the new PMDG software. Plus i loved the programming of the INS system.

Great presentation; the RFP V2 is still in my FS9 hangar today. And I even like the lo-fi VC and the external model, in a retro way.

i first bought this around February 2005 whilst a sophomore in high school. I remember I would enjoy just flying it a little bit since i was too lazy to study the manuals lol. Now almost 20 years later, I am most definitely looking forward to reliving the moment by installing FS9 and install RFP. By now, their framerates are THROUGH THE ROOF, compared to 2005 when I installed them on the family computer.
Sometimes, going back to the predecessor gives you a DEEPER, MORE AUTHENTIC APPRECIATION for your current flight sim, whether thats Xplane 12, MSFS 2020 or P3D v5.3 I have P3D 5.3 and Xplane 11 as of today.

This plane was unreal for the time. Printing off the load sheets, fuel loads, and vspeeds was so cool. Plus, it took some training to get the bird flying.

Man what nostagia, I haven't used FS2004 in about 15 years but I remember it fondly. I remember taking off from meigs field and flying around chicago in the default C172. You are probably aware but for X-Plane 11/12 Felis has made an exceptionally good model of the 747-200 I really enjoy flying this Big Bird in X-Plane however I never feel the same as I did flying in these old simulators likeFS2004. There is just something about it maybe because I was a kid and things were just different back then now that im an adult things are alot more complicated. Thanks for making this video.

Great review! I've desperately looked for a sim study steam gauge 747 for FSX and this plane is the closest out there. There are some converted RFP versions that sort of work (I'm trying to fix or add to it a bit currently). I really like all the special features of this plane like lights in the cargo and pax areas, fully working and individual external/internal lights, animated rear wheel steering, etc.

Hi there thank you so much for your videos! I can't wait to see what else you do. Would love to see you review Pilot in Command 737 classic or Fspassengers in time, PIC was the first payware I bought and always makes me think of fs9!
Maybe you could look into scenery like Ground Environment pro, which I remember distinctly buying in a box from a game shop and when I installed it I thought it made the autogen amazing! Lost the disc so can't confirm anymore lol
Keep up the great work! All the best

Is it possible you might cover 737 PIC and the level D 767? I have both of those plus the PMDG 737/747 for fs9, I would love to see how to update fs9's navdata to match the PMDG planes's own data or how to get the sids/stars for the level D.
