This is true! I admittedly dropped out from watching TDIB for a few years. But man he was my jam back in 2014-18' The other day I just randomly thought "I wonder what that good ol' boy is up to?" I tuned in recently and man it's so wholesome to see how genuine this guy is. It's okay for people to change but he's still the same guy I remember doing his thing and I love it. Gonna binge watch now haha
These RAV4s are bolt in for all kinds of Camry, forerunner, Celica, altezza parts etc. I picked an awd one up years ago for $2800 and the original motor and trans have 230k mileage still run strong😂. They are turds bone stock though. My dad and I swapped an Altezza beams into it in a couple days with the manual trans and it all bolted up no custom fab.
@@SomebodysNephew I’ve customer that has one of these manual as well. All wheel drive has 298,000 miles on it and that thing purrs like a kitten seen it for 170,000 miles and it hasn’t needed much gaskets here and there other than regular maintenance.
I drive a 3S-GE BEAMS swapped into my 2000 awd RAV4 and i love these videos more than anything. Nothing cooler than getting content related to what i daily drive. Makes me wanna go 3SGTE so I can turbo it now. I absolutely love this content. Anything oldschool RAV4 has me addicted

I love this a lot, so cool! I currently have a 3-door version of this RAV4 with a forged 3S-GTE making 280WHP still in need of a tune. But I have a smaller TD06-20G turbo. Still fun though I bet this 600WHP example is monstrous! It's a lovely project. Makes you different from the rest and funny to see surprised faces on the road everyday hahaha!
Honda swaps are cheap. A 5S-GTE is A LOT of money, plus the trans from a celica GTFOUR is even more $$$. I really wanna do a Honda K24 AWD supercharged swap in my celica, I think it'd be perfect. Just a K swap isn't that much, but I know the rest of that is gonna cost a lot.
America needs to find out about the Toyota caldina, specifically the st215. The best factory version of the 3sgte Toyota made. Had one for 4 years and love it
What an awesome car! I too have a “why not” car in the form of an st204 Celica with a built 3sgte equipped with a G30-770 revving to 8200rpm and making 650fwhp. The “why not” comes when people ask me why I didn’t just buy a GT4. But I did that too! And believe me, it’s going to make the 204 look slow in comparison when it’s back on the road with its billet block set up 😛
The fact that it’s a 1997 makes this ten times cooler. If a new one today was like this done by the factory, I’d be slandering it and pissed off at it. OEM custom hot rodding at its best. Respect brother.
This is the second Video I have seen today, and wow is all I can say. I never knew the RAV 4 was such a good platform to swap this engine. I love how, even though the car is modified, it still looks stock from the inside and the ride is definitely smooth just the same. This man is a Genius though, to get all the stuff he needs from Ebay and well, it just sounds factory, minus the pops when they turned up the boost.
The only thing I'd change here is I'd make it more of a rally spec that would let me have fun on dirt roads. It's rav4 after all. It'd need a less violent map for dirt though to have any kind of traction there.
Nice feature man glad to see these builds getting some light. Bought a 97 awd 5speed about 2 years ago. Engine wasn't maintained very well tho so burned a ton of oil and vibrated real bad. Not to mention, SLOW! Found out about the 3S engines and never looked back. Been staring at my 3SGE in my garage for almost a year now but finally have had the time to start pulling some stuff apart. Underrated little cars and engines for sure. Always cool to see a Rav or 3S build.

@@wyattjackson977 I checked Instagram, and verified they are R32 GTR wheels, exactly what I had on my cars. They were perfect and cleared the Z32 turbo brakes. It's pretty crazy the different wheel swaps that went on in the 90's/early 2000's. We had folks putting Mustang wheels on Maximas too.
My mom has the 5s N/A in her Toyota Harrier 98.. Straight from the factory. But giving his story and the engine parts. solid. all of em available in Suriname. We're in 2024 and she still drives the car... engine never got an overhaul... only maintenance.

Honestly, the refinement in ride quality is extremely impressive! For a swapped drive train, except for when your on the gas, the ride doesn’t look bouncy at all! I’ve seen teeth chattering turbo civic videos and this doesn’t have any of that! Looks like you daily it regularly!

This Rav4 is from the 90s?🤔 I think the one i want is the 2010 Rav4 with the factory hood scoop. If i had one, this is exactly what i would do to it! At 4:35 - this is what 90s parts bin cars were all about! Cars came from the factory just sharing parts. Awesome ride 🏆💪
The rav4 is basically a corolla variant just like the tercel and mr2 are. But this one is super dope, my mom's former boss family friend has one of those since i was in high school, she got it brand new and she still has it and she loves it so much she even had it shipped to Iowa when she retired and moved to iowa.

I think more tuned CUVs like this are the future of car culture. Tuner cars used to be the cheap projects you could build when hot rods and muscle cars got expensive, and boomers hated them. Now tuner cars are the expensive classics, and there are countless cheap CUVs out there which gen Xers and millennials generally hate... Seems natural that more innovative folks will find ways to make crossovers fast!

Harrier is the same car as Lexus RX.
@@NearCry91 yes depending on what type of engine or region the car is produced. The RX is a 6 cyl but my mom has a 4 cyl 2.2L JDM

Toyota was well ahead of the game, they made the station wagon called the Toyota GTT Caldina that comes with the 3SGTE, manual and AWD from factory.
