@@tashu6964I understand that, but it’s hard for me to feel bad for Emily because she’s an awful person as well. She’s super classist and lowkey racist as we see this numerous times in the show.
This interaction is just peak WASP.....they are so weirdly disconnected from each other. She talks to these girls like they she's interviewing for a maid, not talking to her own flesh and blood! haha
There was one episode where Lorelai mentioned something about her parents going to London for Christmas to see Gran. Didn't take her along. Maybe I'm mis-remembering it, but it does show how 'connected' these people are to each other. I suppose that Emily would have wanted to shield Lorelai from her grandmother, but chosing a horrible relative to your kid who's still a kid?
And from my understanding of the upper class, they are a lot less formal with people they know. And I'm saying this as someone who has seen it happen, so it seems like tric is very stuck in her time
richard allowing his horrible mom to disrespect his wife and daughter in his own home is so embarrassing. he's a grown man and can't even stand up to her. the fact that he even laughed and went along with the endless unwarranted criticism is worse.
well he gets so much shit form them that he probably enjoys it. Plus, he was from the generation where parents were very authoritative figures. You don't disrespect them. As she is he matriarch if he upsets her he could be cut off from other family events or even the will.
Emily Gilmore is an entitled Karen who treats people horribly so if someone wants to dish her a little dose of disrespectful humiliation, she has more than got it coming
I think the title refers to Lorelai, not the grandmother. And why is Emily getting the food? So Trix could berate her. At the beginning of the series didn't Richard speak of her in the past tense as if she had died?
If something never fails about the comment section of all Gilmore Girls videos is the large population of people who is unable to spell the name Lorelai.
Long answer: Lorelai ran away from home when she was sixteen when she was pregnant with Rory. She didn't maintain much contact with her family prior to the Chillton tuition deal. Trix lives in England, so she probably wasn't around for any of Lorelai and Rory's already rare meet-ups. Real answer: If you were Lorelai, would you want to keep in contact with Trix?
I’m guessing that when Richard, Trix, and Emily had visits most of them were in London not Hartford. Even if Trix did come to the United States chances are she was in places like New York or Martha’s Vineyard. Again Richard and Emily would go to her. As someone said earlier Lorelei didn’t have much contact with her parents for a long time. They only saw each other at Christmas andEaster. Some years Lorelei probably came up with excuses not to go “ We have a huge event at the Inn”. In the pilot Richard made a comment about how unusual it was for him to see Lorelei on a day when banks were open.
@@seanp2871 Well technically Lorelai didn’t run away the night of Rory’s birth. She went to the hospital alone which her parents found out because she left a note. Lorelai then stayed at her parents for about a year. After that is when she ran away for good and ended up on Mia’s doorstep in Stars Hollow.
After 30 years of this abuse I wouldn't simply care if that's my husbands mom. Especially when he seems to enjoy the rude and cruel comments she made. That ancient crone get all kinds of shade of me thrown at her dusty ass.
Being a family tyrant isn’t funny or er, endearing. It is an exhibition of a poor upbringing and unacceptable bad manners. My grandparents were distinguished people who always behaved with superb and gracious good manners and were, in consequence loved, adored and greatly respected by the whole family. Watching this makes me realise how extremely fortunate I was.
These people are the breed which runs civilization. They do not and should not be “nice”. Everything has degraded so precipitously since their departure.
Trix......spineless husband for allowing his wife and family to have to endure his that mother creature. I wonder if Emily sees the similarities between herself and trix.
As Satisfieing as it is to see Emily sits at a firechair I pitty her for her Milmonster and her Mommysboy Husband. I was realy dissapointet of Richard after al emily did for him al those Years.
I am greatly endeared to the grandmother. Stern, discerning, and easily dismisses the insipid platitudes of her progeny. Shame she didn’t raise them better (granted, it’s a fictional character), but this breed inevitably died with the world wars. What a shame, civilization has suffered deeply for their absence.
If that monster in law was kidnapped I hope that Emily would be like, "Sorry, can't hear you, I'm using the ransom money to buy a Birken Bag"
It would have been fun if she actually said it to her there and then :D :D
Why? She's just like Emily, just older. She treats Emily just like Emily treats Lorelai! That was Amy Sherman-Palladino's intention!
@@stephsmith9911 She's a thousand times worse than Emily. There's not one scene where this woman isn't horrible

no, they dont. its old timey 50s fashion. MY Grandmother dressed the EXACT same way!
Knowing what a funny sweetheart of a person Marion Ross is makes this performance even better
She's brilliant.
Very true!🎉
Thanks for that I just realised it’s the lady off happy days
I just love the hard time she gave to everyone
Specially Emily 😂😂😂
Mostly Emily, she is kinda cordial to the Rest

Yes! From the lovely mother in Happy Days, to this nightmare of a person is Gilmore Girls. She is indeed great.
It’s weird that this family doesn’t hug. Lorelai hasn’t seen her grandmother in years but yet no loving nice to see you hugs. Explains a lot
Wow, when Mrs C does a 180, she doesn't play around ! I think even the Fonz would be scared of her.
What a Stange dynamic. That she’s a stranger to her own grandfather’s mother

omg her parting line had me dying!!
It’s weird seeing Emily not in control 😂😂😂😂
Ah, I had forgotten how great this show was! Time to rewatch.

yeah. that infuriated me

Marion Cunningham from Happy days is brilliantly terrifying as Gran.

Well we can see where Emily gets it!
Why does she say mom too? I first thought she is Emily’s mom but then she talked about her son so I’m confused 😮.
It’s just a practice some people maintain (calling their parent-in-laws Mom and Dad)
Then she cameback and played another character
Honestly I felt for Emiley for me this is like being with my dad and most of his side of the family yikes.

It has a large ensemble cast with some diversity
The dialogue was also good plus that iconic theme song
