The only thing missing is a battery and a SBC inside that one could SSH into.

Query... I receive my Yottamaster, I insert a NEW SSD, I connect it to the iPad or to the PC and neither of them recognize the storage? Could it be that I have to format it on another computer before I can use it on the Yotamaster?

You need to initialize your SSD. Go to about 11:00 in this video
