- In this recorded live we'll dip into my jewelry box and I'll share some of my antique jewelry collection with you: Victorian Scottish jewelry!
We'll talk about the popularization of Scottish jewelry, Queen Victoria & Prince Albert, and look at some beautiful antique sterling silver and gold examples featuring agate, citrine and more!
The goal of this video is to help collectors recognize the motifs and materials commonly used in Scottish Jewelry, inlcuding more modern examples like those created by Miracle.

A granny in Australia says...am half way thru Scottish brooches and am admiring a shamrock themed piece. Reminds me; Alhambra Van Cleef & Arpels four leaf clover bracelet knock offs seem suddenly to be THE thing. Catherine Wales and Q. Camilla both have the real thing, and wear them lots! Seems to me they may be the influencers on this one. Since the recent funeral I have been seeing youtubers examining brooches worn, and explaining the message eg Fergie wearing a swallow, long used in mourning jewellery. Using your clothes as an easel and well thought out (cheap) jewellery one can be very creative, and a ton of fun, even for an old girl. Jen...I mentioned that a baby/toddler Lilibet wore coral beads. I am so old that I had a copy of Nanny "Crawfie"'s book, "The Little Princesses", and if memory serves it was mentioned in that. I've forgotten more trivia than I've read!

Hi there, new subscriber from Scotland (Edinburgh) here. Firstly, I just wanted to say a massive thanks for your wonderful, informative videos - the best I have watched. I only started collecting vintage jewellery a few months ago from charity (thrift) shops and I’ve found a few nice little pieces. However, today, I took myself off to an antique dealers and bought my first piece of antique Scottish jewellery - a lovely red banded agate piece. I thought it only right given I’m Scottish! It’s a funny thing but when I was a little girl we had many pieces but it was considered old fashioned and I’ve no idea where it disappeared to. Thank you once again for your knowledge and inspiration! Oh and if you’re ever in Edinburgh please let me know and I’ll show you around our many vintage shops! Ps Have you ever thought about writing a book? They’re few and far between.

Please adjust your lighting settings to clear the glare from sunlight. Your program is the BEST, but my eyesight is not. I watch YT videos all day and night . Because you are so sweet and I wish not to hurt your feelings..the lighting seems distracting from your personal quality.

@@sundaebaubles have a good look at the hallmark it looks like a mid 20th century cast brooch the word Iona would never be on a Georgian brooch it looks very like a brooch made by the Iona jeweller John Hart or the likes no offence meant :0)
@@sundaebaublesforgot to say it’s a misconception that brooches that have long Barrel joints are antique I was using these joints in the mid 70,s Also your brooch has a modern damaged rollover catch which is indicative of these type of brooches :0)

@@mikelandy2078 yes - construction techniques didn’t disappear in modernity, this can only be used as an indicator alongside other details. Will take another look! 😊
