Since 1919, the Purdue All-American Marching Band has been the official sound of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, for over a century the band would serenade the fans of the Indianapolis 500 as the music for the pre-race including the national anthem, God Bless America, and most notably. The famous singing of Back Home Again in Indiana. One tradition they've also been a part of that hasn't received the fanfare as the previous songs though is their annual rendition of the official state song of Indiana, "On the Banks of the Wabash. So before the 108th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, we took a minute to stand with the band as they helped kick off the Indianapolis 500.

They usually drive it around the track on the back of a pick up truck.
