It's been around 2-3 years since I last listened to this (been listening to it for years before that), but I have to say this is absolutely one of my favorite renditions of all time; absolutely gorgeous. Your arrangements have inspired me so much in life and kept me company during many dark times, so thank you
Goddang, masterful. As always. I really need to start sharing your stuff more. I've been listening for ages and your stuff is always on point. Thank you for playing!
Seedy Vagrant Well, I didn't really play it, but I'm happy to oblige for the arrangement, and the MIDI-editing etc.^^ Also thank you very much for the compliment!
This is a piece that made me start learning piano, and start music up again after not playing for about 4 years. Now I’m learning this piece bit by bit and I’m in love with music once again
Holy mother of... (insert religious idol here)!!! This got me tearing up a little!! And it isn't even lacking anything!!! The beginning, the bridge between stage one and two, the finish! It sounds so amazing, no seriously! This is the best cover I have heard so far , and it isn't lacking behind the original in any way!!!
Yiftach Zabary Thank you very much, glad you enjoy it! And I will, although there will be less arrangements coming for a while. Studying for exams and other time consuming things are coming up for me.
Definitely doable piece, and thank you DrJekyll MrHeil for creating this amazing arrangement. Gonna invest a lot, and I think it will defintely be worth the time! (Note, the rest is just tips on how to reach some of the chords and such). Just going to say to all the people complaining about the impossible stretches: it's possible. I'm 12 and learning this piece, and am only 5-5. Alot of the time, holding the left hand chord is redundant (I still appreciate this arrangment though!). For example, measues 9 calls for a 10th, but I simply do the top third with my right hand, and the pedal holds it throughout. Same with measure 13. Another 10th (measure 17 and 19) in the left hand has a fourth in the bottom and a large stretch to the top. Just simply play the fourth on the bottom, and on the next quarter note, play the top. It sounds great to me, maybe even better than the original. The hard part is the from measure 21 onwards, with the rotaring right hand holding the octave. It really takes a stretch, and I'm constantly practicing 30 mins of just that part. However, you can omit some of the top notes, and you'll be fine. Also, you cna arpeggiate a lot of other big stretches, not uncommon at all.
I had to stop playing piano a year back, thanks to school life suddenly getting harder and harder. By the time it finally calmed a bit, i had lost all motivation to continue playing, seeing as how rusty i was. But when i found these videos, i got so excited for playing once again. Absolutely beautiful arrangements. They got me back into the spirit of why I started playing- simply because i love it.
***** I think a girl who is omniscient (she always knows where the player is), and also able to turn souls into skillpoints should have no problem with a bit of piano playing. ...just imagine how much she could level dex with all those souls you give her. (of course only to get better at playing the piano, she's no casul after all)
1:44 is the best part for me. i love the background melody. i wish i would understand sth like music better so i d know how to play an instrument. thats why thanks to everyone who is gifted and does this for us :)
This is fantastic. Just as good as the original in my opinion. Can't stop listening to it. You have done us all a great service, my good sir. Thank you.
Man, I know the original is always better but... When I listen to this piano ver, I feel the piano keys hit harder into my emotion than the original. Especially from 2:48 to 3:03, and 3:18 when the strong melody hit in. Goosebumps all over.
It also fits well the cold days of winter, as if it's a piece that played in the old castles of north, with the music bouncing and echoing on the stone walls :)

+DrJekyll MrHeil alright. I'll try to look deeper into the menus. :P Yeah, I got the program for free, and it's on my iPad so it probably doesn't have those. Anyways, thanks!
Amazing, I love this song. But either my hands are too small or the keys are really far apart by I'm not really able to play some notes, especially those on the fourth site at the bottom for the left hand.
Hey DrJekyll, First of all, I think you did an incredible job with this. Anyhow, I was wondering if you could tell me how exactly you go about playing those double stacked black lines starting from bar 55.

You can't do it in Sibelius 'natively'. To generate the MIDI I wrote out every note in the tremolo, and for the sheet music I wrote it as a regular tremolo and put a text box with the '6' under it. I don't know if it is 'proper notation practice', but I think most people (and everyone good enough to play this) gets the point.
is there a link to download the sheet? I clicked the description link but , I did not find it , I only could download the midi not the actual sheet music
Yes, it is. sry :// I'd guess three years can be barely enough if you're very talented and dedicated, but since I'm not a teacher this is just a very rough estimate.
It takes conscious effort to ignore dynamic signs, which most people won't do. If there are no signs they will decide for themselves how to play it, instead of just going with the signs initially, and then not changing out of lazyness. If someone wants to play it like the video they can listen to the video and write in the signs while listening, which will be more accurate for them than my interpretation of what the right sign would be. Also, because it takes time and isn't fun for me.
Dang I play piano as well but how the hell do you coordinate between so many notes, did you like grow up playing nothing but Liszt and rachmoninoff or what? That's impressive!!!
+TheGoldenBullet100 I've listened to a lot of Liszt and Rachmaninov for a long time and still do, so the influences are there^^. (Rach also taught me how to stop worrying and learn to love huge intervals) And as I don't play most of these myself (I edit the MIDI files in a way I would play it if I had no technical limitations), that's all I need for now... maybe someday I'll be able to play all of my arrangements and then I can start going for the more serious Rachmaninov and Liszt pieces too^^
+DrJekyll MrHeil Yeah man go for it!!! Rachmoninoff is one of my favorite composers, and his prelude in C sharp minor is easily one of my favorite songs of his, but yeah man your stuff is great, my friend and I are actually learning your "one who craves souls" song arrangement together for piano and for cello, though we had to make adjustments so the violin piece is in bass clef. But yeah you've done great so far, especially with this one, so keep it up man :D
+alexandre desrosiers (Aldesian37) if you mean the one in the 5th measure: You're right, I really can't hear it here. This is most likely a 'performance error'(/MIDI editing error) by me, because the e is intended there. (Of course, if you like it better without the e play it without it...I'm not the boss of you ^^)

which will be more accurate for them than my interpretation of what the right sign would be.
Also, because it takes time and isn't fun for me.
+DrJekyll MrHeil Okay.
(Rach also taught me how to stop worrying and learn to love huge intervals)
And as I don't play most of these myself (I edit the MIDI files in a way I would play it if I had no technical limitations), that's all I need for now...
maybe someday I'll be able to play all of my arrangements and then I can start going for the more serious Rachmaninov and Liszt pieces too^^
+DrJekyll MrHeil Yeah man go for it!!!
Did you play the "e" at the very beginning of the piece? Because when I try to play it, it doesn't sound like yours :(
+alexandre desrosiers (Aldesian37) if you mean the one in the 5th measure:
You're right, I really can't hear it here. This is most likely a 'performance error'(/MIDI editing error) by me, because the e is intended there. (Of course, if you like it better without the e play it without it...I'm not the boss of you ^^)
+DrJekyll MrHeil I'd like to learn it, but there are places where one needs to have giant hands to play it :/
♥³
is this for four hands?
420 is everywhere :0000
Fear the dank blood...
lmao when it's 4:20
Fear the dank blood...
damn my small hands, cant stretch more than an octave :/
Das Lawlalot I'm sorry T.T
I'd also advice you not to look too much into Rachmaninov, you'll only find disappointment there...^^
How am I supposed to reach all those notes lmao
This would've been a bit easier if the piece was transcribed in 3/4, like the original
Noirpool0 Woops, my mistake. Sorry, looked at the sheet music and it is in 3/4.
''nerdgasom''
if I actually had money ied pay you >.>
yu need moah subbbs!
+jaiden D Thank you! (x2)
And don't worry about paying me, or about my subs.
The only thing I need atm is more time for arranging.^^
A few too many impossible stretches
nah.. those stretches are a piece of cake compared to some of Rachmaninovs piano pieces. Octave+quint... I say no more
^
DrJekyll MrHeil btw, amazing arangement
Arrangement*
Thanks man, glad you like it!
when you dont understand nothing.
