Giorno is one of the most subtle and nuanced Araki's characters, in my opinion. One of the first things noticeable about him is that he is very polite and well-mannered. In fact Giorno doesn't swear at all, possessing consistently well-mannered and formal speech patterns for the entirety of his journey. Even when Abbacchio constantly belittles him and calling names , Giorno is still respectful to him. In original Japanese , Italian translation and French highlight his speech pattern really well. New English translations tried their best and i think they did great job ( considering the differences in languages). Even in such moments, when it looks like Narancia is going to suffocate when Clash attacked him, Giorno still politely asks to borrow a pen, if they wouldn't mind, so he could help him. However with all of that he still has inner intensity at the same time and is ready to take charge , also not afraid to express his opinions or disobey orders of his seniors if he thinks that is right thing to do. He is very ambitious and wants to gain power, but not for the sake of it , instead so he could use it for the better. He is also very ruthless in dealing with his enemies, being first JoJo who kills on regular occasion. He hates to involve innocent civilians in the business and despises those who do it and take their lives. Because of this he killed certain character in the beginning of Vento Aureo and gave violent beating to another on later on. We learn from his backstory, that Giorno was neglected by his mother and abused by step-father, which encouraged his introverted nature and developing the habit of trying to read the situation and other people, resulting in his deductive skills and observant nature.Giorno has moments of doubt , clear nervousness and even panic. He is not always calm and confident. Examples such as Baby Face fight where he desperately tries to call his friends for help and says he can't take it anymore and that enemy is too strong to beat, however he pulls himself together and gets back to the fight. Another one is when he thinks something going on with Buccellati during Mystery of King Crimson , Giorno starts to panic, disobeys orders to stay in the boat, desperately tries to get response from Buccellati and than quickly rushes to him for help. Later on when Giorno learns of what happened to Bruno in the car , he gets all shaking and actually screams that it's impossible and can't be happening , that Buccellati in reality is alright. Also when they find what happened to one of the characters, his nervousness is very visible and voice wavers , he regretfully states that they were too late. During Notorius B.I.G. arc first he gets nervous thinking enemy is on board and asks Mista to get ready his Sex Pistols , however still in polite way. Than after seeing all of those graffiti he freaks out and after discovering that stand attached to his hand, even more so. During Ghiaccio he fucks up than and that is only time when he curses actually, saying ,, damn '' and apologizes to Mista for his mistake, than asks Mista to leave him, again in respectful manner. There are more moments like that thoughout. Giorno often takes steps to guide his more capable teammates into advantageous situations . He drives his teammates to action and has ability to inspire people around making them better. Giorno has incredible determination and resolve, which he shares with his teammates in moments of need, strengthening their hearts. They all recognize that and GioGio even had effect on Trish. He possesses true leadership qualities. Giorno also has such little moments where he makes a bed of flowers and plants around certain someone and says "I won't let anyone else hurt you...I promise I'll take you back to see your hometown! '' or when he dreams about having pizza back in his hometown in Napoli during flight to Sardegna. Also, he was first protagonist who had his own dreams, goals and worked towards achieving them. He is not reactionary character like all previous JoJos where they responded to threats of villains and got into action because of them. Instead Giorno is proactive protagonist, who is out to change the world and existing status quo. By the end of the journey, he achieves his dream.

His childhood was a lot like Dio's, but he had some actual inspiration to become a good person after he saved the gangster. Otherwise, he would've easily become the next Dio, but even with this he couldn't become Jonathan after what he'd been through. I love it.

I like how, even though Giorno is still a smart and collected person, he is still portrayed (for the most part) as a kid. He trembles in fear every time he has a fight with someone, is unsure of himself at times, and panics. Other Jojo's do this as well, but Giorno's fear and uncertainty seems rooted in fear of losing the people he has just met, but loves all the same. His backstory is amazing, too. It explains his behavior and the way he speaks; he is overly polite due to having to read people to survive, as he did as a child. He has empathy for others, the best form of it I've seen portrayed throughout all of the parts. Giorno is lovable for these reasons; he seems, to me, to be the first Jojo that truly understands people and his emotions.

A year later and The animation did him justice. golden wind is my fave part for the plot and execution. Giorno is not the most expressive jojo but he for sure is the most well put together jojo. His crew really adds to his personality. his character in the story is the guiding force, and motivation through the entire story. He is far from borring.

Honestly when I first saw Giorno’s life ability it reminded me ultimate Kars, but if he could do it to others. Dio bragged about being the ultimate life form but Kars achieved it, then Dio bragged about having the ultimate stand but his child achieved it.

I actually thought that this video was unnecessary, but apparently a lot of people hate Giorno for some reason. I just recently finished Vento Aureo, and I really enjoyed Giorno and everyone else in Buccialatti's team. Giorno especially because of how righteous he was, and it was a stark contrast from his father, which was nice.

I like Giorno, but I seriously don't think colors should ever be used when discussing JoJo, since they're so subject to change at the author's whim.
Ironically, Giorno is one of the very few people with any canon colors. Giorno having blonde hair is canon, just like DIO having blonde hair is canon. Other than that though, Araki really never writes in canon colors. So you are right in general, I just appreciated the amusing timing of your comment.

I find Giorno interesting because he’s a lot different from the other JoJos. Up to him, each one can be seen as facing a situation where a villain takes a hostage of an innocent civilian, and how they react reveal something about their character.
Johnathan doesn’t have an exact replica to this metric, but something similar in how he rushed out of his way to help Erina from the bullies, even though he knew he probably wasn’t going to beat them. This is because Johnathan had the true essence of a gentleman instilled within himself, and he fought with a strict honor.
Joseph’s moment comes with the reporter girl Straizo kidnapped on the bridge, and with Suzi Q and ACDC. Against Straizo, Joseph first bluffed him because he wasn’t certain that Straizo would actually kill her and says he doesn’t care about her, but he loses his cool when he rips out her tooth. He was using the girl to learn more about his personality and concludes that Joseph ‘pretends to be cool, but is full of fire inside’. I believe Straizo isn’t wrong here, however Joseph shows that it wasn’t blind rage that filled him, but a calculating fire when he rebuffs the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes with a glass.
When ACDC threatened Suzi Q’s life, Joseph showed his ingenuity and quick thinking when he realized his and Caesar’s Hamon could counteract each other and not kill Suzi. And after ACDC was dead, Joseph still had a respect for the Pillarman despite his actions and intent.
With Jotaro, his hostage was the nurse that Kakyoin had possessed. Up to then, Jotaro could have seemed simply unempathetic and edgy, as he calls his mom a bitch, yelled at the girls on his way to school, and initially did not care about Dio’s return or the implications that posed to the world. However, his sense of justice shone through his delinquent demeanor against Kakyoin. Kakyoin’s stand cowardly manipulated the weak for his own gain, hiding from his victim and the law. So, Jotaro takes matters into his own hands and judges Kakyoin himself, since, despite his faults, he can recognize true evil. The way Jotaro draws Hierophant Green from the nurse also demonstrates his general tendency in Stardust Crusaders of just hitting his opponents without considering all factors of the enemy’s stand, like when he later just nails Steely Dan/Dan of Steel mid-monologue and almost kills Joseph.
Josuke’s is with the man controlled by D’Angelo’s Aqua Necklace and the cashier. Within the first episode, it demonstrates the duality of Josuke’s character: he’s friendly and compassionate when you don’t expect him to be, (I.E. healing Okuyasu, apologizing to Jotaro for causing trouble with Joseph’s scandal, complying with the upperclassmen even after they hurt the turtle and hit him), but unforgiving against a villain who goes to far. This mostly translates to people who insult his hair for a lot of Diamond is Unbreakable, but also against aforementioned D’Angelo and Yoshikage Kira, both of whose actions were objectively deplorable.
This all changes with Giorno and the transition to the mafia of Italy. Giorno has no similar situation to what I can recall; Giorno’s enemies don’t allow him the luxury of having the chance. Polpo’s stand outright kills the old janitor without consideration, before Giorno has the opportunity to realize what’s going on. The setting he lives in is a lot tougher than the rest, and it requires a new type of resolve to succeed. While Giorno still carries the justice of the Joestar bloodline, he also carries the cruelty of Dio. His enemies are as equally determined as he is to succeed, and are willing to lay down their lives for their cause. The kindness the other Joestars possess would not prosper easily here for this reason, and Giorno’s ability to risk life and limb for his dream as well as his willingness to win without the honor of mercy.
Another video by Kaleb (or a different Jotuber, I can’t remember right now) discusses whether or not Diavolo deserved his punishment of infinite death. While other villains may deserve it more than him, Giorno is the only Joestar who would deal this out. The stand is the soul’s manifestation, and a Requiem stand even more so. If Jotaro and Josuke were in a similar situation, I seriously doubt Star Platinum Requiem or Crazy Diamond Requiem would make Dio, Kira, or even Diavolo suffer eternally. This is where the strength of Giorno’s character truly lies. His resolve led to the path to his ultimate victory and the achievement of his dream.

I heard a good amount of shit being talked about giorno before i read part 5 but then the more of it I read the more his character started to blow me away, the baby face fight particularly stands out as point where i first thought aloud that this guy is awesome.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been in bed just imagining myself saving Giorno from his abusive parents and telling him stories about his 2 fathers, Jonathan and Dio.
Giorno's Stand really reminds me of Hamon, giving life where there wasn't and healing people. I like to think that it's a Stand that could've have been Jonathan's.
Even GE's "reflective" ability (although only used like once) is just like how Dio describes Jonathan- that the more you hurt him, the more he bounces back. (Maybe not 100% accurate but you know what I mean.)
The more I look into Giorno, the more I find how he's integrated of both Jonathan and Dio, and his own background. His characteristics are so uniquely rich. That combined with his incredibly rare determination, I literally cannot see why people bash on him as a character.

And he actually grew it to be stronger without needing the horses power which is why when he sacrificed himself for his son George he only needed the corpse to create a full infinite rotation. Giorno is absolutely my favorite jojo and golden wind is absolutely my favorite part. It feels like the most fleshed out and complete jojo part ive seen so far.
I liked the different direction taken for Giorno. He was the support and healer in the group instead of just the muscle. I also liked how the group fought together instead of standing around and taking turns at the enemy. The dynamic worked.
I think my favorite thing about Giorno is that unlike previous jojo's who were pushed into action by the villain, it's Gio who pushes the villain into action.
He is honestly one of the best mc in general. Usually main characters in manga/anime are either blank slates so the viewer can project himself into them, badass macho idiots who overpower obstacles with punches or fucking pussies who cry throughout the saga. Giorno is very smart but not obnoxious, mild mannered and polite, driven but not obsessive. He is actually a very relatable hero that you can trully like and root for, he earns the reader's respect, instead of forcing it down your throat simply because he is the mc. In fact he is so good that I can overlook how terribly inconsistent his stand is. If he wasn't such a good character I'd probably hate him because of how many plot holes and conveniences Gold Experience creates through the series.
Giorno Giovanna is the best. It’s so true that he’s so calming and peaceful yet he fights so hard. And the relationship between each character in Bucciarti’s group is beautiful and relatable. Part 5 is a miraculous work of art.

GIorno is my second favorite Jojo . What i love about him , besides being smart and etc. is his ambition , ability to inspire others , incredible determination and resolve. He has ambition unlike other Jojos before him and most important of all I think , is that he inspires his people around him and makes them better. Nothing illustrates that better than Giorno's and Mista's fight against Ghiaccio. When situation seems critical , Giorno recognizes that Mista's spirit is wavering and he inspires Mista to continue to fight , reminds him what is the resolve by damaging his own hand and delivers some poetic words. This is one of the best JoJo moments in my opinion , which would be even better once it animated with voice acting and music. Another such examples are fight on boat against Zucchero's Soft machine where he sacrifices himself to drive Abbacchio to action. Also fights with Notorious B.I.G. where he inspires Trish and during fight with Man in the Mirror , plus Giorno pushed Buccellati to take action and try to climb to the top of mafia world and go after the boss. He has that type characteristic of true leader. Even if he isn't involved often in action, he still has presence on battlefield which is felt by other team members and it's crucial to their success. Also Giorno creates bonds with other characters and can lose his cool for a moment when they are in danger. For example , when Buccellati first faces King Crimson , it's clearly shown that Giorno is really worried about Buccellati and he rushes in , despite having orders not to leave the boat , however he still runs inside , thinking that Buccellati might be in great danger. Last thing I want to add is that Giorno is ruthless and essentially kills in gruesome fashion every opponent he faces unlike for example Josuke and Jotaro who majority of time only injure their enemies but don't outright kill them , except the few ones. I also think Giorno really suffered from poor translations. He often delivers poetic and poignant speeches during fights , which was lost in previous translations and it seemed like he said some gibberish. New translations fixed that.

All I gotta say about Giorno, is that he has the head of Dio representing his intelligence, cunning skill, but he also has the heart and body of Jonathan representing his aspire for other, caring nature, and honorability truly making him a Joestar.

would love to see part 5 revisited. such a fun and interesting part, and with the main character alive, using the rule that "stand users are drawn together" its enough substance to make a series about challenges faced as a mafia boss based on the principle.
Josuke vs Giorno would be a interesting fight because of their stand abilities.
Josuke is phyiscally stronger, faster, and can technically oneshot you (he punched through two people's torsos in the manga and anime, the robber who took the clerk hostage) Giorno if he can land a hit makes it game over as he will drive josukes nerves insane and lose, Giorno in my opinion is smarter and calmer, but it is a fun fight to think about

The problem with a lot of people's mindset on this topic is that they don't see Giorno having much of a connection to Dio, and they don't really try to figure out why. But if you look at Part 5 and what it has to say as a story, it's clear as to why it wasn't more than what it was. Part 5 has a bunch of themes/messages that all kinda connect and whatever, but the two that pertains to Giorno being Dio's son are that good can come from anywhere, and overcoming your origins. Giorno was abused by everyone in his life and to top it all off, he was the son of Dio. He was detained to be evil from the moment of his birth. But because of the gangster he met, a symbol of good coming from anywhere, even something as evil as the mob, Giorni gained the character he needed to overcome his origins and become a good person. Because even if you are the son of the most evil person in the world, you still have potential for good. And not just good, but like his other father, Jonathan, a beacon of virtue. Giorno's connection is one with thematic and character building importance. Its importance might not be an obvious one, but it's one that is important to the soul of the story and of Giorno as a character.

To everyone that says Giorno is a boring charcter, just because he's not the usual JoJo, and is very passive, and "lacking" in character development even though that is not true, missed the point of part 5.
I don't think he would have any more room for character development as he already was the most mature JoJo for the beginning of his part. The point of his character is that even though he is already mature, he is still vulnerable as he is shown to panic at times. That even though he is calm and collected, he is still a 15 year old who had to fare his entire life by his own.
During the times his friends died he is at shock and couldn't do anything at all. He finds out one of his friends is basically dead, he is in great denial even though he knows more than anyone else how his stand works. That moment proposes character flaw, not development.

The problem with Giorno is that he's a quiet and reflexive character put together with loud and funny characters like Mista and Narancia.. He's a good character but people tends to remember only the strong personality of his allies

People assume that Giorno has no personality just because his personality isn’t blatantly obvious. For example we all know Jonathan is “pure” he’s kind. Joseph is a trickster that likes to play pranks. Jotaro is an edge lord, Josuke is confident and courageous. But when they can’t explain Giorno’s personality they say “oh he just no personality, no character whatsoever. 😐” And that’s not how you should judge someone. To me Giorno was the most realistic character in Jojo because he wasn’t insanely pure or devil. He was like a real person that would get scared, sad, and happy…with no real fix on how he should act or what would go out of his character. His “lack of personality” is what made him real to me. Everything in his life lead to the person he is now, and I think he’s just fine! He doesn’t have to be anyone else. 🥰

I actually think the character who shines more in part 5 is Bruno. He's the most reliable, trustful, and kind hearted all together.

You should have also pointed out the wings in his stand design. By having wings on its shoulders it's referencing the song's lyrics "you can not see the top - unless you fly". But it was a great video about my favorite jojo.
