    Thanks for this video. I enjoy working on old 3 Speeds so it’s always good to see what other people do to get old parts working again. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks very much. I'm just refurbishing my dad's 1962 Raleigh Superbe with a four-speed SA FG hub. I'm no expert, so everything's trial and error. I stripped the trigger, cleaned it, and reassembled using two 2BA brass screws and nuts rather than rivets. The bike will get very little use, so the screw shanks shouldn't wear a lot.

      I was thinking of doing the same thing! Using small nuts and bolts to hold it together. But maybe not. I just think it would be easier to clean. How has your been working out?

    • @nigelgrant4123
      @nigelgrant4123 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greg1268 I think it's fine, but I've hardly used the bike. I think the screws will last many years.

    Great vid and knowledge, how did you flatten out the drill bit end pls also how does the new wire fit in :) you keep posting i will keep watching Steve NZ

      Thanks Stephen for watching, the drill bit sits in place snug so just make sure you get the correct thickness or sand down to make fit, the gear cable are you referring too, if so that goes in at the back of the lever 👍

    I think when assembling the two pins it is important to put the back plate onto a hole and then to press or hammer them into their final position. However, thanks for the instruction!

    Hi,
    Great video. I need to service my 4 sp SA shifter as I suspect the clutch and spring need replacing, it does not hold gear 1. Where can I purchase a new clutch? Can I send this into you for a service?

      If you use a fine wire wool it will take off the silver, maybe a bit of cutting paste too 👍

    BLNH on the trigger what does that stand for?

    • @Apheresis
      @Apheresis ปีที่แล้ว

      B for Bottom gear (super low) L for regular Low gear- N for normal(direct drive} and H for High gear(overdrive). The sturmey archer story by Tony Hadland is good. Just in case you want to know almost everything. Except 4 speed trigger work.
