No “but’s” !!!!!!! She’s 71 “AND” she can still belt out those vocals. Wiser AND talented. Let’s not minimize aging grace in women any more. Thank you & please. 😘
I got 5yrs on you. The 80's were Incredible. I was Fortunate enough to see almost every 80's Band Live in the 80's My Fondest Memory was Seeing Missing Persons for the 5th time & being invited backstage to meet them. Duran Duran was amazing but Favorite Concert had to be Adam Ant & The Romantics The Romantics opened & Killed It, then Adam Ant came on & took it to another Level. At 57 I realize how fortunate I was to grow up in one of the Most Amazing Musical Eras
@@thefiftyyearoldfourtwentyg7377 Im 57 as well and Missing Persons was the first concert i went to. Saw them at Crawford Hall in UCI around the time when Spring Session M came out.
We saw the Motels open up for David Johansen in 1979 in Boston . Martha jumped up on to our table and kissed me on the cheek! Johansen was the main event and they were great but the place went crazy over a basically unknown band at the time. Great show !
Debuted in spring of 1982. Recorded in 1981. But who cares. 1979 even better. Those years was when America was still great, no matter what the issues of the time where. Mr. Peanut AKA Carter and then Reagan years. 42 years ago, damn it went faster than lightning in slow motion. Now 2024! It's all junk and trash now. Where were you in 1982? Great times to be alive. Glad I lived it like 10's of millions of Americans alive then and now.
Beautiful. Im 54 and in the 80's when I was a kid, this song and many others were the sound track to my youth. This was one of the best songs during that period for a lot of people. So happy to hear this song again and I bet all of the members of the band must have felt a great sense of pride to revisit this song and in a way, their past.
August 2 1985 San Juan, Puerto Rico, Hiram Bithorn Stadium. I was 14 years old and this was my 2nd concert ever. The Motels, Survivor and Men at Work played that night. I'm 52 now and this bands will never know how much we treasured those memories.
I don’t care how old the lead singer is. She still has the voice & can put on a good show. This song still sounds as fresh as it did when I was a kid growing up in Stewartsville, NJ during the 1980s.
This Motels album was one of the first I bought as a teen. This brings me back to my youth, driving around with friends and singing along to this song, and “Take the L.” The Motels is an underrated group, for sure.
I'm 63 and this came out when I was 22 and graduating from college in 1983. We've all aged and creaks and groans sound louder each morning. Martha still sounds good. Thanks for the memories.
I know, amazing ain’t it?? Sadly however, legendary singers like Linda Ronstadt unfortunately lost their beautiful vocals due to health issues, and/or “mother time” simply taking its toll on their youth! 🥺😔
As singers get on into the years it is so refreshing to see them sing with passion and love of the lyrics they wrote in their prime. I often wonder what became of some of the bands players an so on. Keep singing on!
Thanks for posting this. This is one of my “go to” 80s hits. Nice job everybody ! I was really impressed she could still hit that one high note at the end. And she didn’t try to act like she’s still 20 something like some do. Thanks again !
One of the greatest songs ever written!!! Elton John, George Michael , morrissey, Paul McCarnty and Brian Wilson said this!!!!!! And so those the public!!!! We love you!!!!! Keep performing.. please
this song and video will haunt me forever. it reminds me of running around all hours of the day and night with friends in los angeles. sunsets and parties...
Beautiful 🌹I love it. Martha Davis was pure talent. This song was Bigtime, and I’m glad I remember hearing it for the First time. Amazing song. Forever.🌹
Nobody does it better than the original singer. I love it! Just as long she’s able to and still enjoys performing. I would pay reasonable money to watch and listen her music.
Martha Emily Davis First live in Japan You impressed the Japanese audience, and I remember like it was yesterday that the Japanese audience was impressed by your charm. 40年前と同じアレンジに感激しました 80年代ロックフォーエバー
I don't care what anyone says it was the best decade of music. One verse and I'm back in the 80's.
I had my teenage years in the 80’s. Those were the best times of my Life. THE MUSIC WAS THE BEST.. ❤️❤️❤️
I was 24 in 82 and Im instantly brought back when hearing this.
So much time has passed. So many people in my life are gone. As I sit here alone and cry, one day, I will be gone too. This song brings that home. 😢
Martha still has an amazing voice even at what she would be 72 now. Her voice ages very well.
Amazing voice !!
Agree 100%
Still sounds beautiful
No disrespect
I sure wish Linda Ronstadt could still do this
and in the very same key!!
@philherrick7319 She's still workin that rotisserie chicken from Kroger..😂

Would that happen to be the same David Johansen (AKA Buster Poindexter) who played the ghost cab driver in Scrooged?? 🤩 That guy was a riot! 😁
@@SeanTheDon-vj4kw YES !

That voice is still completely there--beautiful and inspired. And Marty! Excellent.

Voice is beautiful, powerful and strong as always. Transcends through the decades!
just watched vh1 reunion. Now this feels like it should be the week after the performance on that show but 20 years have passed. haha.
I just saw it too, thinking Martha had her black hair, and the original guys with her 🤣
