- Scepter Runewords in Diablo 2 are often underestimated by a lot of players, the reality is - thanks to the plus skills and the nature of scepters themselves, they can easily be on par with their more popular cousins in the mace, sword, and axe trees.

I used rift scepter with hybrid trapsin/kicksin. Awesome gameplay with actually perm frozen orb. Lovely on cows, Sanctuary, almost everywhere
I’ve been rocking rift on my merc for fun with my trapsin since I don’t have infinity. It’s so fun. Maybe lose a reguv slot for mana but he handles anything my traps can’t. Love the vid earned a sub man!

Better to use Rift on self assa main hand. Infy + Nightwing + storm + Rift + draculs + COH + Gore... and swap guillaume + Fleshripper. Very nice trap/kick hyb assa for clearing everything on p4 and making ubers.
Fortitude in scepter 3bh/3conc is awesome.
Beast in caduceus also great, always used it at vanila uber smiter.
I used to keep an ethereal King's Grace (15% superior) Balrog blade on my sword barb in 1.09 - good, cheap damage, and I couldn't afford Fury at the time
found an interesting scepter with +2 to FOH and blessed hammer , on an FOH pally that is curently using spirit. Was trying to think if there is any way to upgrade over spirit somehow with it. Probably not , huh? Kinda weird thhat you can put HOTO into maces but not scepters....

I'd expect the magic damage from Sanctuary when wielding Lawbringer would add to smite damage.
It does but is sadly negligible compared to any source of flat damage or crushing blow.
I really want to try holy thunder. Also I just dropped an earthshaker. If I can get some +strength jewelry I might try it out considering it has 30x the physical damage plus bonuses for my pally. It's supposed to be for druids but doesn't seem that great for them lol.
It's for a really specialist build, though its bigger brother is generally the preferred tool for the armageddon fire claw druid.
Im running griswolds set right now on my paladin. My 4os weapon still empty i cnt decide what runes or jewel should i insert on. I know enhanced damage jewels are way to go but its too expensive for me.
It actually depends on your build, there's a few options with them, though generally "socket with what you're lacking" is a good basic philosophy - Griswold's is generally consistently B tier though unfortunately :(
So I have a holy thunder war scepter 3foh 3holy shock and I also have a hand of blessed light 2pally skills 2foh 4holybolt... It's says I do more damage with hand of blessed light but I clear alot faster and seem to do alot more damage with the holy thunder... Is there a reason for this? Can someone help me understand this better please
I allways wanted to build a double holy shock double holy fire paladin with the appropriate equipment that focuses skills into synergies and whatever left into cleansing, prayer redemption call it aura healadin possibly have a secondary attack aswell
Maybe FoH after the patch? Aura's pinging enemies and conviction aura on you, foh lightning weak enemies and watch the holy bolts heal your allies

Scepter CtA is actually great, since every character can use a scepter. They are not paladin exclusive weapons and the mighty scepters have low STR requirement; so a +holy shield fail roll scepter is still the best base for CtA if you can get one. Sure, your sorc can't use the +pally skill on the scepter, but they can still use the battle cries as normal.
Scepter is a very underrated base on CtA and is actually one of the best ones.
Yeah and if it's Ethereal it gives some style points haha!
Conviction + foh + holy shield + 6bo CTA is possibly the most god tier item you could ever find for the PvP world. Easily fetch 40hr
What would be the use for the Lawbringer in Ethereal Great Sword ? Act 5 mercs can only dual wield one handed swords ??
there's 2 types of act 5 mercenaries - frenzy and bash - this video was made before the frenzy mercenary was ever created.
@@Alzorath I made an ethereal Zweihander grief myself . I thought I would have been able to use it . I guess that was before they changed everything . Now I will have to make an Iron Golem out of it LoL ! Thanks for the info !

How long does Monster flee actually work?
Just a few seconds? Or permanent?
Because while it´s generally bad on melee weapons, if it works only temporary, it would at least be good on bows/crossbows.
Though there the Knockback effect is probably better...
It's typically a percentage chance to cast with 1 Dol rune having 25% CtC

It's only for a set amount of time, which I forget, but I believe it can also be interrupted.

A bit off topic but I just found a unique helm that has all the mods you mentioned and I was kind of tempted to use on my Bowazon. It's called "Howltusk" . Stats are:
It has 25% chance to cause monster to flee
Knockback
35% damage to mana (Very nice for a frost maiden).
"Honor" looks interesting, but for my Paladin, what's a good weapon to socket that one?
Crystal Sword has rather low damage base or?
Also how can I tell how many sockets an item will have? (without going out of the game, some websites trigger a malicious warning in my browser)
I feel like D2:R needs some more tooltip infos and all recipes on a list inside the cube.
Played a lot other games such as GrimDawn and man, things there are just so much more accessiable.

Unfortunately it doesn't show it in-game - and the number of sockets varies based on a hidden number called item level (as well as the hard cap for the item). If I were to make an honor to regularly use, I'd probably choose either a War Scepter or Divine Scepter with decent skills natively on it - both cap out at 5 sockets, and can get all 5 of them from larzuk if you find the base in nightmare/hell - though it will only get 5 sockets naturally in hell) - the 5 socket issue is one of the big limiting factors of honor unfortunately
I have a War Scepter with Honor runeword. (On Plugy not on D2R). I took my war scepter to Larzuk and he gave me 5 sockets and Honor was the best choice I could make. It served my Paladin well up to the beginning of Act III Nightmare and would probably serve him even further but now that D2R is out that's all I play now.
I used beast once in a superior berserker axe and it was miserable. You get about 5 min of gameplay before it breaks and have a 200k gold repair bill each time lol.
Sooo I want to make CtA in a war scepter for my smiter. Is this optimal?
it can be good if you get the right scepter, though for the actual act of smiting, grief phase blade is still the golden standard - the scepter with failed-roll holy shield scepter for example, would be great...
@@Alzorath yea so I have the grief phase blade and HoZ on my smack bar. But the back bar I guess people run CtA for warcry buffs. I just like the way the war scepter looks. And how do I know if I found a good base? Or do I just pick up a flail?
Could you do top 10 melee weapons NOT to make in a phase blade?
As in weapons that are good in things other than a phase blade? or weapons that shouldn't go in a phase blade?
@@Alzorath either or both! seems like 90% of weapons, outside of bows, are just better in a phase blade. Be great to know the top 10 that aren't all in one place.
@@inrptn well, don't try Beast, it doesn't work in swords. Neither does Chaos. Delirium only works in helms, Doom isn't sword friendly either. Duress and Enigma are armor only, Exile only works in pally shields. Famine won't work, neither will Gloom, but Hand of Justice would be alright (along with Kingslayer). Passion *could* work, but Prudence DEFINITELY not. I wouldn't recommend Sanctuary *OR* Splendor, as they're shield only. Death is more fun in an ethereal berserker axe, and Destruction would likely fair better in a polearm. Dragon, Dream, Edge, and Faith are right out! (They won't work) Fortitude could, but it's a far better armor. *GRIEF* will give you more damage in a Berserker axe, but fanbois won't tell you that. Ethereal is better, but again, fanbois won't tell you that. Harmony, Ice, Infinity, and Insight are out, but Last Wish... will still give you better damage from a Berserker Axe.
Quite honestly, if it says it can be made in an axe, a Berserker Axe is better than a phase blade. Any 1H mace or club has higher damage. While the phase blade has the most sockets of any 1H sword, it also has the lowest average damage. It is the fastest though.
Honestly, the phase blade is awesome for so many builds. However, if a runeword can be made in a scourge or Berserker axe, you're better off using those.
Played this game for 20 years, never knew Fortitude could be in a weapon LOL 😭
It sadly can be on almost every weapon, unfortunately the % damage only applies to the weapon, unlike putting it on armor lol
@@Alzorath Weapon damage % is superior though, since it's multiplied by other damage% sources like items and skills.
You forgot to mention how good cta is in a scepter that has +3 holy shield, its best in slot for Paladins.

yup, sadly part of everything that can get 4 sockets lol - it's not the worst weapon runeword, but it's just so much better in armor :)

sadly, scepters can't get 6 sockets.
Why are you showing us rune words in other weapons besides sceptres. You should show us the rune word in that item.
