I remember the first time I collected the full Trang-Oul's set (my first char was a necro). I equipped the final piece and OMG IMMA FREAKING LICH NOW! that was so cool. I didn't even knew the set did that, that was amazing.
Then I looked at my stats... Oh God, what a massive let down... Blizzard really dropped the ball with this one...

I used to rock full trang's set back in 2004 as a happy 13 year old kid looking badass. Never paid attention to stats or set bonuses, happiest memory playing this game.
ME TOO! I was 14 or so at the time and, oh man, the set looks amazing, those were some awesome 60 seconds or so...
Back at patch 1.10-1.11 I loved running around as a Leech, casting fireballs, poison nova, surrounded by mages. It was fun.
Later I realised it was fun, but not effective at all. :'(

I love the Trangs set and use the 3pc through to endgame on my Necro. Personally I believe that the things holding the full set back are the vampire form FCR breakpoints, the poor itemization on the helm and the existence of Enigma. Imo the 3 changes I would like to see with the set would be +1 skills on the helm, no difference between the FCR breakpoints for human and Vamp form, and bumping the +3 fire mastery to +10 to make the fire spells more serviceable.
Personally I would love to see a balance state where you run full Trangs for the Fire Mastery and spells then run boosted Fire golem and CE (with LR) to become a full Pyromancer.
I might be wrong, but I don't think fire mastery has an effect on fire golems. That's because it's a summon and not a skill, same as masteries don't effect mercs. It should boost the fire part of CE though. Would definitely be a cool addition if they changed it to work as you said.
I use full trangs on my summoner, and it rocks. Along with a +2 Necro ammy and Arm of King Leoric.
Set itself gives +5 to all your skills, and tons of resistances. Might not be best in slot, but it's a hell of a lot easier to trade for than an enigma.
And the FCR issue hardly bothers me. My corpse explosion is killing most everything on the screen in 1 or 2 casts anyway, so not really much of an issue there IMO.
I was going to say essentially the same thing. The FCR is only really an issue if you are going poison or bone, or teleporting everywhere. If you are wearing the full set you aren't using an enigma, maybe you could have a teleport amulet but then you are probably just going to telestomp a boss every now and then so fcr not a big deal again. I generally play on P8 Single-player so it takes me like 3 to 5 CE to clear a screen. Even then I never feel like being able to fire them off a few frames faster would have ever made a difference.
The set actually fits a very specific niche of summon/poison nova hybrid necromancer.

I use full trang set with a poison nova/summon skeleton hybrid. It's pretty dang OP tbh. Especially with max block, since you get to walk everywhere at fast run speed and keep your block chance/defense.
Good point on the max block I forgot about that and if you play hc max block is borderline necessary 🤷♂️
FCR penalty doesn't even matter since poison doesn't stack so you have to wait anyway. However I don't use the full set getting + 5 skills from a full set is kinda not ideal for a Necromencer who benefits the most I would say from + skills I mean a coronet that you gamble alone can give you +3.
@@greatdude7279 Right, there's a lot of good reasons why it's so great, including FCR being largely un-needed. Of course, it helps to have some, I think I run with maybe 40FCR? And it works just fine, since it's all about the action frames on the spell in vampire form, not the initial FCR.

Yeah man full trang. Pre summon w arm of king L. Swap to wizard spike for res and fcr. Full summonmancer like said doesn't really need tons of fcr, max CE blows like 1.5 screen away. I play HC only and I also like 3pc trang w arm and humon for pre summon, swap to wizzy and gerkes and gtg.
Heres something you didn't mention in the video. The fire mastery skill should increase the fire damage of your corpse explosions significantly. Level 3 fire mastery gives 44% increased fire damage. Since half of CE damage is fire that's a 22% increase in overall damage. Throw on a maras and that becomes 58% fire and 29% overall damage.

With hoto, maras, 2 sojs, and an Anni, you're looking at +11 fire mastery, which is a 100% increase in fire damage, so a 50% increase in CE damage before resistances are applied.
Full summon trang set, max block with 20 raise, 20 mastery, 20 corpse explode, 1 amp, 1 lower res, 1 clay golem, 1 summon resist & the rest into bone wall & bone prison for increased safety that adds to bone armor synergy for hardcore. I use bonewall to pin fast evasive enemy's to a wall and let my summons pile in for the kill. Switch to lower res and firewall vs physical immune/stone skin.

Fix the fcr breakpoint nerf and remove the helm from the set and add a ring to the set. Fixes the full set, allows more build diversity and people will farm green rings in nm and hell again.
Something that is kind of neat the firemastery actually makes the Corpse explosion deal more damage per body.
I have used full trangs a lot it’s definitely slow but safety(defensively) it’s crazy good the movement speed boost while maintaining block chance and defense makes it very hard for the mobs to get you

It’s a noticeable amount it’s like 33 percent better CEs but they are slower
I have tested it and it definitely takes less bodies to clear rooms
Yes the damage of Ce is variable but you see a major swing toward more damage per body with CE

One thing people underestimate about Trang set is that you don't care about your casting speed with the poison nova, it's actually hell viable with a few extra jewels on top of your shield penetration, and you can even put on a deathweb. Also with enough + skills that fire wall helps with the bosses since you can't overlap poison damage. That and the set makes you very tanky. You can't beat enigma's clear speed, but the set is good until you have some super late gear.
I always got told u need the 75 fcr as poison Necro :? For CE. So the full set is over all better to wear then let's say X3 pieces and then use some fcr or mf armor/helm ? If you poison Necro ?

i think devs should add an option to turn on/off vamp form with full set, like werewolf. switching back and forth between human/vamp form on the go will be fun
And when your in vampire form it will allow you to gain health for killing an enemy
I run full Trang on summon necro, it's the best you can get while looking for your ultimate necro gear, extremely tanky & unlimited stamina. It's biggest downfall is relying on teleport charges because you can't wear Enigma. I keep asking for a Dagger/Wand runeword with +1 Teleport all the time, seems the dev team listen to the players so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Those fcr breakpoint differences are really lame and weird, but I think it makes sense if you accept the fact that this set is most likely intended to be used with a summoner build, and really probably nothing else. You have you summon army going, and then have the fire skills to just throw fire balls and meteors on groups while your summons do work. And help out a little bit with physical immune. Yeah, its not a ton of damage, but its a little something to supplement when your regular skeletons aren't doing any damage.
Really wish they would go over the Necromancer class as a whole and show some love.
We got the Plague RW now (ladder-only) which smells like Poison Dagger might be viable, but nope, no dice.
For the vamp form with the full Trang set, I would think it's the other way around:
Being a vamp ghoul makes it even better with the spell slinging.
I'd imagine the 9 frames breakpoint as the default with nothing added to the set.
And then go from there with an advantage over human form at around 105% FCR should be down to about 6 or 7 frames of casting delay.
Throw 1 to teleport in there att full bonus.then maybe some use

My favorite part of the set is the seemingly random +FORTY PERCENT run/walk on the chest. Obviously losing out on Enigma is rough (especially for summoners who rely on teleport to regroup the boys) but getting to float around at a pretty high speed never fails to make me smile.
I have a Teleport Amulet with 25 charges for when I need it (Arreat Summit against the ancients) or as an "Oh-Crap!" escape method.
I'm curious... What the hell was the logic behind the 20% life steal? Most these end game sets are so trash :(
The vampire monsters leech life from you when they hit - but it also pertains to their spells, so you don't get that benefit.

Yep. That's my playstyle. I am a poison necro with Wizardspike and full 20/20/20 in the poison tree and currently have +15 to LR and 20 to CE, not including +skills.
I think it's a pretty sweet set overall. Granted it has it's drawbacks, mainly the slower cast rate, the atrocious speed to break pots, but it also has a couple great pros, like being able to walk at run speed without gimping your block ,great resists and while the fire spells are not super strong, it's still pretty useful imho to have at least fire wall as an offensive spell you can do in between curses for boss for slight bump in dps (since most summoners don't spec into poison and bone and are kinda idle when not surrounded with bodies to detonate. My necro defintively feels way more tanky when wearing trang than when wearing the meta set, that's for sure).
That said , for the set to really shine , they should probably increase the levels on the fire spells, remove the FCR and pot breaking speed bugs, and add at least something good on the helmet (Ideally +1 or +2 to all necro skills). Still though ,it's a good three piece set for Poison Necros, and it can also work ok as a partial or full set for Summon Necros before they get their final setup... Not sure it's that good for bonemancers though due to the slower cast rate, the fact the only piece that actuall give poison and bone points is the shield and overall you can defintively get more bang from other stuff.
And maybe putting the +3 to all skills at having 4/5 pieces would also help with swapping a couple of the weaker parts for parts more suited to your build ,because right now the partial set is a little all over the place due to gloves / armor / shield having different +2s and the belt and helmet have no plus skills. I mean it's good to have +5 to all necro skills on an easy to get items, but it's hard to compete with all the top tear + skill uniques and runewords when you have a couple set pieces with no + skills on them.
But overall, the best part about this set is how easy to get once ladder has been going for a while. Only the gloves are used by other classes, and the rest is usually thrown away even by necros because they all want the "Usual suspects (Nigma, Shako, Arachnid, etc) "... Meaning you can pretty easily make a need free trang game and get the full set in an hour or so... Giving you something that's good enough to do pretty much hell diff and diablo clone for essentially free... Set is probably good enough for uber trist too, provided you have the supplementary ammys and rings to make ti happen, the skillers and the right merc gear.

1:50 I like having full Trang Oul's on one of my Twinks, usually utilizing a poison nova skilltree with lotsa extra movement speed.
Very fun! And it can actually get quite good too! Especially with that fire golem and that anti resistances curse!
Not on my main summoner, but I always want a speedy floaty Ghoul for the funs of it!
The trick with Tangs, is that it doesnt drop def when running.

Coolest set design in the game by far, changing you into a vampire and giving you all of those fire skills.
WOULD be cool if the fire skills would be something unique to that form. Like this it's just an even shittier fire-sorc.
Them tri-res-boots really made this video...the full Trang-Set is such a let-down for such an awesome looking transformation.
I finally got the full Trang-Oul set today! I farmed Hell Andy/Mephisto (especially when terrorized) until I finally got it! :) :) :) I'm super happy! I also found Marrowalk Boots doing that.
As a Poison (Dagger) Necro, If you're worried about Resistances with the 4-piece partial set, Wizardspike is amazing to have. Similarly, with the full set, Wizardspike will help with your FCR (+50). My guy has 70 FCR at minimum currently AND I have several FCR rings or amulets to bring me up to at least 15-to-14 frames per second if I want to wear them. Rising Sun Amulet will help boost your fire skills including your Flame Mastery Skill (58% added fire damage) and Corpse Explosion. :) Definitely add on a Flame Rift and Rotting Fissure Sunder Charm!
One last thing I'll mention...opening jars takes too long as a ghoul. Seriously, opening a jar seems like it's affected by your slow af FCR for ghouls!!!!
I’m doing my necro play through rn. I’ve got full Trangs except for the wing which I traded away long ago. Looks like a good set for my hybrid poison/skellies setup
Question: Does the Sorceress Hellfire Torch raise the levels on the Fireball, Meteor, Firewall, and Fire Mastery that Trang's set provides? If so, I might find more benefit to that than a Necro Torch, lol.
The spell happens as soon as you cast unlike other spells where there is a cast and then the spell.
The 20% life leech would be beneficial if you decided to be a poison dagger build.

@@wideout3485 I am using a orbwall sorc currently, and I have to say, too many fire cold immune (countess e. G.) . Also, fire wall is only works for stationary targets like bosses or ranged. Might respect into either meteor or orb with chain lightning

For a sorc only 3 pts count in all Fire skills. This is a general restriction, a barb doesn't benefit more that 3BO from CTA and an amazon not more than +3 to Valkyrie from Harmony.

I run trangs full set with my summon necro and I'm beast run solo all the time and get through all acts very little issues
there is(or at least was) possibility to stay in humam form with full set, you just need to change act, but idk if it give you back human cast/block breakpoints or its just visual bug.

They could remove The vampire breake points. As you mentioned. And then also when you aRe in vampire form you get som extra beniffits from your poision and bone skillers, wich also Will give you bonus to fire skills.

Ive been using full trangs on my necro the last week and i noticed my cast rate was much slower. But there is this weird quirk where sometimes it will cast a second nova immediately, almost like a double cast. But i cant find anything about this and not sure if the necro does this without full trangs.
I feel like its got something to do with the vampires animation everytime the flames pop up underneath you.
I think the fcr and fhr frames are fine. In exchange for that you get the ability to walk with the same speed as running, so you always keep your defense. Instead, they should just add at least lvl 20 fire mastery to the set to make it usable.
I hope they fix the transformation at some point, it would make it so much awesome
I used to love the Trangs set back in the day for the def sticking when walking at run speed and since the casting of a spell happens mid animation, it decreased the chance to be interrupted.
Another thing to note, the + fire skills when worn on a sorc are significantly lowered and you don't get a huge bump in levels.

With LoD I tried full Trangs on a few builds, including hybrids, and was a bit disappointed. The fire skills are practically useless. A three piece with a rare +2 necro circlet and a Bone RW armour was more effective. Giving up the minus enemy poison res for even more +skills on a shrunken head made summons and corpse explosion, and the character in general stronger. That was before having Enigma or Arachnid Mesh.
It does look cooler though.

If you have a deaths web I think it’s called the poison wand, I think it would be okay but last I seen the set was glitched and slowed your cast rate down

Got a Dweb 2/2/48 and enigma and 2set trang (gloves + trophy) Just need to hit next breakpoint on FCR to make it good.
If the full set had enough FCR to hit the 75% Breakpoint atleast and +1 to teleport it would be one of the few builds not needing enigma.

Classes other than Sorceress will be able to cast a level 10 Meteor (or higher, with + to all skills) while wearing four pieces of Trang-Oul's. A Sorceress wearing the same will receive only +3 to her existing Meteor skill, however. This allows oskill bonuses to be large enough to be useful to other classes without being overpowered for their native class."

This set is the perfect example of what needs to be fixed in this game, make items make sense for the character they are on.. life leech or mana leech should never even be able to roll on a wand

I wish you could get the Fire Mastery without the full set, on like a fire druid or Holy Fire paladin (like in some older pd2 patch I think). Does Fire Mastery affect Fire Golem and Corpse Explosion though? Might be okay to use in town before you summon your Fire Golem, if that's your thing.
@Justice not necessarily. You don't give up Enigma on a posion necro for Bramble either. The tradeoff would be very real. Would be good for ladder start (as it was used in pd2).
@Justice well, it is pretty much narrowed down to Enigma without or right now in the very endgame. Armors need to be real broken to compete or enigma/teleport nerfed. Even barbs use Enigma over Fortitude...
It looks cool and you can viably farm hell with it. That’s all that really matters.

You forgot the +fire mastery will help your corpse explosion . But most of all , the vampire look will give you 1000 stylepoints . And lets be honest , thats the most important .
Fire Mastery doesn't increase the fire part of CE.

youre not getting partial set bonus because you dont meet the strength requirement to get them because the belt doesnt count if its red. using the max roll for D2 you can plan out the set and see you still get 18 to fireball and 15 regen mana

3 piece set is godly if you can reach 75fcr on a poison necro but you need a 2/20 or a magic 3/20 and at least a 15% fcr crafted caster ammy
So its better to rock 3 piece's and have another head / armor with + skills or mf or fcr then full trang set as poison? I thought Poison didn't need fcr since u have to wait for ticks anyways from the spell. If we talking about not having enigma for teleport. Budget build.
full trangs summoner to start every ladder. helm, armor, shield socketed with -5% fire facets, hoto, mara's, dual soj. AoKL/+3 boneflame on swap for raising army.
+all skills boost the fire skills as well. firewall is only one worth using.
-5% fire facets work with CE giving it a nice boost. Torch, anni, gheeds and MF small charms fill the inventory.
280ish Mf, go anywhere do anything character never gets boring. i mainly turn keysets into organs before handing organs off to my smiter.

Godly because now it adds some good free dps to summoners. Instead of just standing around behind the line. Don't forget the full set vamp buff. Walk as fast as run so you never lose defense.

The most you'll get is +3
That's how the oskill skills work, which is why it doesn't matter for barbs if you get more than a +3 roll to BO on CtA. You'll still get +4 to it, but a +6 BO CtA will still only give +3 BO and +1 all skills (hence the +4 to BO)

@@MosahWasTaken if you can get an item that's +3 warcries and +3 battle orders, yes! The barb helms can give you that.
Prior to CtA, "BO sticks" were the most popular way of buffing - javelins with +3 warcries.

It deff needs a re-do. The helm, fcr and fire crap make it not worth. Wish D2r would have a ring of royal granduer.
I dunno, I run the full set on resets. Day 2 the whole thing is collectable for like 500fg and a white Wand. Boom. Your farming hell cows easily .
