  • Recommended Inshore & Shoreline Fishing COMBO - Socal Arsenal
    Gear:
    DC reel: fish.shimano.co...
    Teramar Rod: fish.shimano.co...
Our very own Rodney Marquez offers up his advice for those SoCal anglers looking for a great inshore or shoreline baitcaster outfit. If you’re looking for a fun outfit that can be used for a wide variety of inshore fishing applications, then check out the Shimano Curado DC, a relatively new offering and technology from Shimano.
“If you’re like me, you might shy away from using baitcasters because of the struggles with backlashes,” said Rodney. “But the Curado DC has a built-in microchip computer that regulates the spool speed on its own to help all anglers prevent many potential backlash issues. The reel senses the spool speed every 1/1000 of a second and throttles down the freespool to allow long casts without fear of what follows.”
Built on the legacy of durability, dependability and versatility that Curado is known for, now with Shimano’s unique DC braking technology. Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilizes a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times every second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximize distance.
“I’ve been testing out the outfit for about 6 months now and have found it to be just right for catching spotties, calicos and inshore halibut,” commented Rodney. “I have the reel on a Shimano Teramar Inshore Series rod and it is just right for a wide variety of inshore fishing, but especially for calicos here at home. I’ve even taken it offshore and did some light-duty tuna fishing for fish in the 20 to 30-pound range.”
Teramar rods are built with Shimanos TC4 construction which delivers an extreme amount of power and strength but keeps the blank nice and light. You will find lengths and actions for all your inshore needs. These rods also feature Fuji Guides and reel seats and come with premium cork handles.

      I’m here in Alaska now.
Lost the cast control knob on my tranx 300 and don’t want to risk damaging something else.
I have a couple shimano curado DCs but nervous about hooking into a 60lb+ halibut. I’m fishing 80ft deep
      Think it be good?

Awesome review of this reel, is that 20lb braided power pro line you have in the video? I am somewhat in the market for a Shimano Curado DC or SLX DC - I mainly fish for perch in NorCal and sometime going after halibut and striper. Do you see any corrosion in the reel for using it in Saltwater?

You got to grab the cadence cb5 baitcaster. 20lb drag for about $40. It's so good I don't really consider buying anything else.

From what I’ve read the dc chip is completely sealed. (Water proof) I did watch a video on tackleadvisors that showed a little bit of water going inside the reel. Really want to get this reel soon to test it out my self.

I'm late here but is this a nice rod for throwing light jigheads and swimbaits in shallow water? I need something heavy to keep the spotties out of the rocks, but I want a really soft tip so I don't rip the baits out before they have the hook.

What gear ratio did you go with

    • @user-vx9wy6rk7d
      @user-vx9wy6rk7d  2 ปีที่แล้ว

A lot of anglers prefer a higher gear ratio in order to pick up more line per crank without having to reel as fast. It's all personal preference and is really dictated depending on what style of fishing you're doing and which baits you're using!

Great combo, but I'm a big fan of the Daiwa costal. Mag brake, t wing, and the extra line with a 200 size. Landed my PB 28" halibut in SD bay on it.
Edit: forgot to say that I hate braid smaller then 30lb on a BC, it gets baried way to easy on smaller line.
