Fun fact - the house is basically across the street (from the back) of Ennis House which was the filming location for the original House on Haunted Hill which was released in 1959 - the same year as the murders

In the early 1930s the house belonged to George Arliss - long forgotten now but an acting legend in the 1920s & 30s, winning the Best Actor Oscar in the 2nd year of the Academy Awards. He insisted on a young unknown actress named Bette Davis being cast with him in other films and she became a legend too. Hope this trivia has alleviated some of the horror from the house's grisly past.

I didn't know George Arliss wanted young Bette Davis cast with him. That's an interesting piece of trivia. He never owned this house, but he did rent it and live there for a while.

Yes I agree completely. But like the host was explaining, they probably had the plots purchased already. Also, who would be around to contest the decision to bury them in one location or another? The parents? Siblings? That decision had probably been laid out in his will.

I was immediately struck by how much this house resembles the LaBianca home. Yes, they are in the same neighborhood, only 8 minutes apart. That explains the very similar architecture to a point. Meaning, do ALL of the homes in this neighborhood have the exact same look? Also, they are both on top of a hill. This one has no landscaping but of course no one has lived there for years. I had not heard this story. Very sad.. Great video!

I worked for an alarm response company in the Loz Feliz area many years ago. The wall and gate were not there at the time. You could just walk up to the property. If you walked up on the driveway towards the left side of the house you could look into the windows of what appeared to be a living room or study area. Yes, I remember seeing a Christmas tree with other normal belongings. The house never sold back then because of estate/ probate issues. Another coworker actually entered the house responding to an alarm and confirmed seeing blood stains on the carpet of one of the upper bedrooms. Fascinating!

Reminds me of the Sam Shepherd murder case from 1954 Bay Village, (Cleveland) Ohio. For a long time, the murdered wife was buried away from her Husband, who was sentenced to prison but then acquitted years later. It was their son, 7 years old at the time of the murder, who insisted they both be buried together, and he got his way and made it happen. It was also the story of a doctor murdering his wife. The story is what most people believe the old Fugitive television series of the 60s is based upon..

I've lived in California my entire life and I've never heard the story of these murders. That is so sad. Why a husband would murder his wife. We'll never know. I'm glad the daughter got away when her father tried to hurt her. And I'm glad the sons are okay. And yeah that is kind of morbid that the husband and wife are buried next to each other but they probably did buy the plots when they were alive. Such a sad story. My condolences to the children. There are photos online of the interior when the Christmas decorations and the wrapped gifts are still sitting there. When I looked it up a few years ago it was pretty chilling to see. It is kind of an odd thing that they have them buried next to each other but then again, the relatives or friends probably in their grief didn't think to separate them or maybe knew more of why things happened the way the did. Oh, on a separate note, the house from House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price is behind this house... maybe a bit kitty corner but it is in the same area.
There was an odd murder here in Aurora that happened in the late 1920s. The husband killed his wife and her brother, chopped off their heads and put them in cement blocks. Hid them as porch supports then dumped them at the garbage dump. The cops ended up finding the blocks and he was sent to jail. When he passed away from old age, he was buried in the same cemetery as his wife and brother-in-law but not too close ;) Look up the Warren Lincoln case from Aurora, IL. It's an odd story.

The Home of Peace Mausoleum, which is elegant and beautiful, reminds me of the architecture found in southern Spain which is heavily influenced by the period in history when the area was controlled by the "Moors" or Muslim groups of people of Northern Africa, around 711 A.D./C.E. Those arches, the designs are exquisite. This type of architecture, for example, is found in the Álcazar de los Reyes Cristianos in Córdoba, Spain beautiful, intricate, geometric designs. Fabulous gardens, very serene, calming. It always amazes me how when cemeteries are visited, it is almost like you are transported to a different era.
Thank you for taking a minute to remember those who lived before us, for your respectfulness to those resting.
