Matt can you please suggest...is it worth buying an iPhone 16 pro max...this will be my first ever iPhone ....will i m seeing most people are criticising this phone ...now I m having second thoughts for buying...can you please tell if it is worth it for a first time user
The 13 Pro Max is still a beast. What matters to me is the functionality. As long as my old phone is still running without lags and does what I intend it to do, then I will not upgrade.
I know color to some seems unimportant and a non factor, but I like you don’t want to give up my Sierra Blue! I have the color shining through beautifully in a Blox Clear Case Mate case with my Twinkle Diamond MagSafe ring(that I use as a stand). Clear cases do yellow over time but I love the Sierra Blue so much that I have 3 Blox MagSafe clear cases to swap out as needed. I even prefer the shinier Stainless Steel Metal Blue Frame. It looks fantastic! Not enthused with the iPhone 16 Pro color choices. 0:02

I just upgrade from a 13pro max to 16pro max and I can confirm 100% sure the new phone battery is not any better than the 13 haven’t notice difference .
Also for 3 years always charged 100% never issue with the battery now they recommend to not charge my new 16 promax phone 100% to preserve the battery of the phone 😓
I upgraded my 13 pro (non max) to the 16 pro and am happy. I got usb c finally, a better camera, always on display, and better battery. It wasn't a major upgrade, but I upgrade every 3-4 years so it still felt worth it to me with the trade in.
Literally none of that is a significant change. Always on display sucks, it drains your battery no matter what they say. USB C ? Lightning still works. Better camera? Well, how much better
@@dwayneslensTmobile gives you 1100 “trade in value” but its over the course of 24 months and the credit is added to your tmobile bill. Essentially if you trade in with them you’re getting locked into a 2 year deal. It’s good if you’re happy with your carrier but not good if you’re not.

Great video, however, when comparing photo and video quality between two devices, it's paramount to have side-by-side comparisons. Otherwise we're having to rely upon memory which, if the images are fairly close in quality, most won't be able to tell the difference unless there's a side-by-side comparison.
I have a refurbished 13 pro max and will not be updating. I do like the gold ‘desert’ color though. Maybe in a few years I’ll get a refurbished 16 pro max
I had my 13 pro max side by side after buying the 16 pro max and I'm returning the 16 pro max. 13 pro max was so ahead of its time.. i also use a samsung fold 6 and swap sim cards when i feel like it.. (apple has a 14 day return policy with no restocking fee for all the people that keep doubting)
I just upgraded from the Iphone 13PM to the Iphone 16PM and before even turning it on i can’t get past the fact the IPhone 13 feels and looks so much more premium with the stainless steel. Not a fan of the new titanium at all. Genuinely thinking about returning it for this reason alone.
I just upgraded from the 13 Pro to the 16 Pro (£270 off trade-in with Apple). Honestly, I kind of wish I hadn’t bothered. Yes the 16 Pro is obviously the better phone in terms of specs but in everyday use for what I use it for I don’t feel any difference. I prefer the shiny steel edges of the 13 Pro. I even prefer the notch, which was the smallest the notch got. The ‘Dynamic Island’ on the newer phones simply looks like a cutout and the functionality is a con - it just widens to include notifications - seriously? The new Camera Control is a total gimmick and offers worse usability than using the screen. The thinner bezels on the newer phone are nice though. Unless Apple Intelligence lives up to the hype, I will continue to wish I’d waited to see what next year brings.
P.s - I actually did send my 13p to apple but I sent it in the same box ghe 16p came in and not the trade in kit. So the label was the same and ups sent the 13 p back to my house lol.

Can’t feel temptation to upgrade. The camera button is nice but coming from the 15 pro, can’t be bothered to go thru the process of the Apple upgrade program, which that’s what I have now.
Depends if you plan to use the Apple Intelligence. I would at least give that a try when it comes out on a friend's phone to see if you think it is worth upgrading for it.
Forsure. I’m currently using a regular IPhone 13 and it works really well even with a 74% battery health. Im upgrading to the 16 pro max just for the bigger screen. If I had the 13 pro max, id wait for the IPhone 18-20 tbh.

I’ve still got the 13 pro max, my wife’s just upgraded to the 16 pro. It’s definitely not worth the upgrade. With the iOS 18 update the phones feel & perform the same.
The camera was def better on the 13 PM. The zoom is better on the 16 PM. For me, a Dynamic Island, AI, and a better zoom isn’t worth paying 1099$ unless you got the funds to do it.

Aside from the improvements made in gaming performance, I’m perfectly fine keeping my 13 Pro Max. I wouldn’t mind upgrading this year, but I wouldn’t mind skipping it as well.
I have 256gb 13pm blue sierra and have had it new since 10/21, battery still 100%, operating great, doesn’t get hot,no cracks and not 1 problem. I will not be upgrading to the 16pm, honestly don’t see 1 real point.
Yeah I’m kinda sad I traded in my sierra blue 13 Pro Max. I did get the 16 Pro Max in black this time, and it looks amazing as well, so I’m happy. Also got a storage upgrade & went with the 512. Biggest upgrade for me is the USB-C, it charges so much faster & is way more readily available every you go. I like the Dynamic Island a lot more than the notch, although a hole punch would be even better. The new A18Pro chip fun’s flawlessly. Can’t wait for Apple intelligence.

13PM has been the best iPhone I ever owned since the 6 Pro and is still fast today with the latest iOS version. My only con is that it doesn’t have USBC so having to strategically store lighting cables is a hassle. Other than that I’m planning to get a new battery for my 13PM and hold on to it for another year or two. I love this phone.
I’ll be upgrading from the 13 to the 16 pro this year. This video helped me realize it will help more of an upgrade than I expected. Thanks! Sorry about your broken screen.

As an independent car content creator, since I use my iPhone as my primary camera for content creation, I'm upgrading from my 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. The $1k trade-in deal with AT&T makes sense to pull the trigger on the upgrade this year
Finally pushed for the upgrade since my sister needed a new phone and I gave her my iPhone 12. I always travel with 2 phones so made sense to just keep 13PM for backup, and upgrade to the 16
usbC is actually a con for me.. In terms of long term durability, Lightning definitely beats C in my experience and since all I do with the port is charge the thing, C would be a downgrade in my eyes.

I actually kept my sierra blue 13 Pro Max after my company bought me the 15 Pro Max. It’s in a box and will serve as backup to anyone in the house who needs it. The 13 PM is still the best iPhone I’ve ever owned and will smoke my 15 PM in battery.

I am still using my 12 Pro Max and just because it has started to have some glitches with touchscreen I am thinking to upgrade it up to 16 Pro Max. But I pretty much glad with my current phone.
Still rocking an 11PM here and I see no reason to upgrade. Everything the 16 offers is a “nice to have” rather than must-have. Current phone still does everything I need it to.
Any update from my SE original from 2016 is going to be amazing. But get that year on year it’s more complicated to justify a new phone. I’d buy just the 16 to replace my SE that has served me well.
I’ve seen various charging tests, and it doesnt seem to reach 45w if you’re not using the phone. It only goes above 30w when you’re actively using the phone while charging, since that uses more power
I wanted a 13 Pro Max in 2022, but they didn’t have any left in stock when I was at the location that I went to so was stuck with the 13 pro. I had an x max prior. I have ordered a 16 Pro Max because I really do miss the larger screen size of the max series.
I went to the Apple Store and looked at 16 pro max. Yeah, it looks great, it’s barely brighter and the bezels are slimmer but I put them side by side with my 13 pro max and was like “nahh”. Also considering that Apple Intelligence won’t be out until next year, I may as well just hold off a couple of months and grab the 17.
My only problem with iOS is when you buy a new phone you didn’t feel the “new” factor because your entire setup is on your new phone (if you move it ofc); and the phone looks exactly the same. This is the only one I loved about android, a new phone felt new. But for the topic: I can’t wait to upgrade my 13pm to 16pm white. 😃

I have a 14 pro max, still basically brand new and we're talking like only about thirty charges on the battery tops was thinking for the upgrade but figured I'd wait for the specs to come out. Hello Matt, you did demonstrate important significant improvements. I do have my disappointments with my 13 Pro. It appears that Apple has rectified those issues. Thank you for this informative comparison. The possibility that the 16 Pro max screen can be turned down to 1HZ, and the video time is significantly increased is valuable information not just for watching videos but also for the ads during games. That’s my disappointment with the 13 Pro is the fast battery drainage. I’ve seen useful improved features for the IPhone 16 ProMax. The design does look a bit more polished & sleek.
My 13 Pro Max battery only had ~65% capacity. I wanted USB-C. I have the Vision Pro, and wanted spatial videos and cameras. I am interested in trying the Apple AI. I hated the ‘silent’ switch on the 13 Pro Max, and love the programmable action button. The 16 Pro Max is MUCH easier to see in bright sunlight. They are both 1TB, which sucks. I wanted a 2TB option.
I absolutely loved my 13 pro max but about a month ago my display suddenly went out. I realized that I hardly had memory left and for the cost of a replacement it was almost a given that I get the 16 pro max… well just got it in the mail. It feels the same as the 13 pro max but some of its new capabilities are super cool!! I think if my 13 pro max display didn’t go out I prob would have kept it a bit longer.. not sure though. I tend to upgrade every 3ish years anyway.
I still have 12 pro max , i am still happy with it except the battery issue ,but it is ok ! I will never replace it till they release something worth to replace with .

Upgraded from 13 pro max to 16 pro max, didnt do it for the new phone but had to buy a new iphone in the familly, personally i dont feel like its much a difference, i notice the dynamic island more than anything and the action button, the camere button is just useless and even changed it to be less sensitive so i dont accidentaly press it. I would recomment if you have a 13 pro max , just refresh the battery in a service and keep it for a few more years, you get the same things and the added things are not noticeable.
I have had my iPhone 16th max for a week and a half. The difference is negligible. In all honesty I think the battery in the iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted longer. I could get into day 3 sometimes with the 13 but no way I’d be able to do that with the 16. If I knew what I know now I’d have saved the money and stuck with the 13 pro max.
I upgraded my 13pm for a 16pm and I’m extremely happy with it. Granted, 2 of my cameras had gone out but everything about this phone is better. If you’re a content creator it’s a no brained. If you don’t use it much and your 13 is still good.. save your money
I got the 16 pro max for 50% off making it $600, but i had to switch carriers and finance it over 2 years making it $25 a month. The unlimited plan is the same as last carrier but i am saving $20 a month and new carrier takes $25 off my home wifi bill for switching to them. So my 16 pro max is basically free plus i am still saving a few bucks s month making the switch!
I was about to cancel my iPhone 16 pro order, but this is the only video that convinced me that this upgrade is actually worth it. What I was being really annoyed with my 13pro is that it didn't automatically switch lenses while zooming during video recording. I always had to decide if I want to shoot in 1x or 3x. That's a huge one for me. Also the screen upgrade got me, better brightness in sunlight, down to 1hz pro motion for a better battery life.. better battery overall.... I didn't think this would be a big enough upgrade, but these upgrades are actually huge for me.
Not sure if its a feature of the new ios but I just shot video on iPhone 13 pro max today and it switched lenses seamlessly as I zoomed in, from 1x to 3x 👍
I only upgraded cause my speaker sound was getting low and I tried cleaning it but 3 years of working in dirty conditions took its toll I still had 84% battery health even though I always killed the battery at least once a day I got the iPhone 16 pro max 512gb in Natural Titanium I like the phone but could have waited another year before upgrading

@@VoiceofFox so far I am glad I have not upgraded my 13 pro max to the 16 pro max. Yes the AI bit may be good, but to me it doesn’t warrant an upgrade yet. May be lucky with a new design of the 17, it may have a better spec time will tell….
@@nicknandhra7121 I think the current design is almost perfect. It’s a refinement of the last few models. I don’t see them re-designing it for the sake of it. If they could just get rid of the camera cut out, that would be enough for me.

Can’t feel temptation to upgrade. The camera button is nice but coming from the 15 pro, can’t be bothered to go thru the process of the Apple upgrade program, which that’s what I have now.
It’s true that 16 pro max is faster, better cameras and AI features but I feel 13 pro max is still good enough for most of the tasks…

Depends if you plan to use the Apple Intelligence. I would at least give that a try when it comes out on a friend's phone to see if you think it is worth upgrading for it.

The camera was def better on the 13 PM. The zoom is better on the 16 PM. For me, a Dynamic Island, AI, and a better zoom isn’t worth paying 1099$ unless you got the funds to do it.
The most attractive thing about 16 is AI. But it is only available in a few countries.

Aside from the improvements made in gaming performance, I’m perfectly fine keeping my 13 Pro Max. I wouldn’t mind upgrading this year, but I wouldn’t mind skipping it as well.
I have 256gb 13pm blue sierra and have had it new since 10/21, battery still 100%, operating great, doesn’t get hot,no cracks and not 1 problem. I will not be upgrading to the 16pm, honestly don’t see 1 real point.

Yeah I’m kinda sad I traded in my sierra blue 13 Pro Max. I did get the 16 Pro Max in black this time, and it looks amazing as well, so I’m happy. Also got a storage upgrade & went with the 512. Biggest upgrade for me is the USB-C, it charges so much faster & is way more readily available every you go. I like the Dynamic Island a lot more than the notch, although a hole punch would be even better. The new A18Pro chip fun’s flawlessly. Can’t wait for Apple intelligence.
Still have my IPhone 13 Pro & changed the battery for it last weekend . Keeping this baby until iPhone 17 or 18 until I see a redesign.

13PM has been the best iPhone I ever owned since the 6 Pro and is still fast today with the latest iOS version. My only con is that it doesn’t have USBC so having to strategically store lighting cables is a hassle. Other than that I’m planning to get a new battery for my 13PM and hold on to it for another year or two. I love this phone.
I’ll be upgrading from the 13 to the 16 pro this year. This video helped me realize it will help more of an upgrade than I expected.

As an independent car content creator, since I use my iPhone as my primary camera for content creation, I'm upgrading from my 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. The $1k trade-in deal with AT&T makes sense to pull the trigger on the upgrade this year
Finally pushed for the upgrade since my sister needed a new phone and I gave her my iPhone 12. I always travel with 2 phones so made sense to just keep 13PM for backup, and upgrade to the 16
Was using my iPhone X for 5 years, 14 pro max atm - upgrade expected iPhone 20 so all in all 6 years. Changing earlier seems pointless / overkill.

usbC is actually a con for me.. In terms of long term durability, Lightning definitely beats C in my experience and since all I do with the port is charge the thing, C would be a downgrade in my eyes.

I actually kept my sierra blue 13 Pro Max after my company bought me the 15 Pro Max. It’s in a box and will serve as backup to anyone in the house who needs it. The 13 PM is still the best iPhone I’ve ever owned and will smoke my 15 PM in battery.

From anything less than a 15 pro max, the upgrade path is a good idea. For being set up to run Apple Intelligence alone makes it a good option.
I dont think AI is a exciting at all. I think most the things that AI does is MEH at best.

I am still using my 12 Pro Max and just because it has started to have some glitches with touchscreen I am thinking to upgrade it up to 16 Pro Max. But I pretty much glad with my current phone.
Got my 16 pro max and trained in my 13pro and loving it.
Still rocking an 11PM here and I see no reason to upgrade. Everything the 16 offers is a “nice to have” rather than must-have. Current phone still does everything I need it to.
Just upgraded to the 16 Pro Max from the XS, and the fluidity of the display is amazing.

I’ve seen various charging tests, and it doesnt seem to reach 45w if you’re not using the phone. It only goes above 30w when you’re actively using the phone while charging, since that uses more power
I wanted a 13 Pro Max in 2022, but they didn’t have any left in stock when I was at the location that I went to so was stuck with the 13 pro. I had an x max prior. I have ordered a 16 Pro Max because I really do miss the larger screen size of the max series.

I went to the Apple Store and looked at 16 pro max. Yeah, it looks great, it’s barely brighter and the bezels are slimmer but I put them side by side with my 13 pro max and was like “nahh”. Also considering that Apple Intelligence won’t be out until next year, I may as well just hold off a couple of months and grab the 17.

My only problem with iOS is when you buy a new phone you didn’t feel the “new” factor because your entire setup is on your new phone (if you move it ofc); and the phone looks exactly the same. This is the only one I loved about android, a new phone felt new.

That’s what I did. I always buy a green cover, so a basic white phone is what I usually get.
Funny...that is one of the things I hated about android. A new phone meant days of fiddling. I like having my screens set up right off the bat.

The huge tech channels like Linus, Arun (Mr. Who’sTheBoss), iJustine, and Marques not only don’t have the same unique style of explaining, sometimes complicated features, and specs in a simple elegant way, while focussing on flashy editing, and often overlooking the important features that you bring to light in real world scenarios, doing all of these comparisons for people that are in so many different situations with various phones, deciding on if they need to upgrade or not, whereas they just really focus on reviewing the phone itself, with very little comparison to previous models, as you make video after video full of content, dedicated to doing just that, and I absolutely love that about you, and that’s why you are my favourite content provider for Apple technology. I trust you Matt, as I did purchase the 16 Pro Max 512 GB, and I absolutely love it, even compared to my 14 Pro Max, where there isn’t really supposed to be that much of a difference, but I have found it to be pretty noticeable, even just after a few days.
I know you didn’t mention it this video, but it’s nearing the end of the month and I am holding out hope for that iPad and magic keyboard as being on disability for so long, I’m getting really itchy and planning on starting my own TH-cam channel, and it would be a great tool to help me get started. Along with any advice you could please help me with as I want to start a complete tech channel, as I worked in the electronics industry for 30 years, so I have a very strong grasp on a lot of various technologies, and I absolutely love talking about them, I could go on all day conversing on them. When Verizon is giving me a 1000$ for an upgrade, upgrading from my 13 pro max to the 16 pro max is a very compelling option.
I have a 14 pro max, still basically brand new and we're talking like only about thirty charges on the battery tops was thinking for the upgrade but figured I'd wait for the specs to come out. Fortunately chanels like such exist and I think that I'm going to wait for a few more years for an actual upgrade. 👁

My friend bought 13pm, and I have 15pm, apart from dynamic island and titanium frame and day to day use, they are literally the same phone. For the avg joe, 13pm is the best choice rn
Hello Matt, you did demonstrate important significant improvements. I do have my disappointments with my 13 Pro. It appears that Apple has rectified those issues. Thank you for this informative comparison. The possibility that the 16 Pro max screen can be turned down to 1HZ, and the video time is significantly increased is valuable information not just for watching videos but also for the ads during games. That’s my disappointment with the 13 Pro is the fast battery drainage. I’ve seen useful improved features for the IPhone 16 ProMax. The design does look a bit more polished & sleek.

My 13 Pro Max battery only had ~65% capacity. I wanted USB-C. I have the Vision Pro, and wanted spatial videos and cameras. I am interested in trying the Apple AI. I hated the ‘silent’ switch on the 13 Pro Max, and love the programmable action button. The 16 Pro Max is MUCH easier to see in bright sunlight. They are both 1TB, which sucks. I wanted a 2TB option.
I absolutely loved my 13 pro max but about a month ago my display suddenly went out. I realized that I hardly had memory left and for the cost of a replacement it was almost a given that I get the 16 pro max… well just got it in the mail. It feels the same as the 13 pro max but some of its new capabilities are super cool!! I think if my 13 pro max display didn’t go out I prob would have kept it a bit longer.. not sure though. I tend to upgrade every 3ish years anyway.

Upgraded from 13 pro max to 16 pro max, didnt do it for the new phone but had to buy a new iphone in the familly, personally i dont feel like its much a difference, i notice the dynamic island more than anything and the action button, the camere button is just useless and even changed it to be less sensitive so i dont accidentaly press it. I would recomment if you have a 13 pro max , just refresh the battery in a service and keep it for a few more years, you get the same things and the added things are not noticeable.
I have had my iPhone 16th max for a week and a half. The difference is negligible. In all honesty I think the battery in the iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted longer. I could get into day 3 sometimes with the 13 but no way I’d be able to do that with the 16. If I knew what I know now I’d have saved the money and stuck with the 13 pro max.
I upgraded my 13pm for a 16pm and I’m extremely happy with it. Granted, 2 of my cameras had gone out but everything about this phone is better. If you’re a content creator it’s a no brained. If you don’t use it much and your 13 is still good.. save your money
I’m going to have to wait until Black Friday to get a good deal with my carrier, but can’t wait to upgrade from 13 to 16.
I got the 16 pro max for 50% off making it $600, but i had to switch carriers and finance it over 2 years making it $25 a month. The unlimited plan is the same as last carrier but i am saving $20 a month and new carrier takes $25 off my home wifi bill for switching to them. So my 16 pro max is basically free plus i am still saving a few bucks s month making the switch!
good thing about iphones is that they usually dont have any new useful features which save us from upgrades.
I was about to cancel my iPhone 16 pro order, but this is the only video that convinced me that this upgrade is actually worth it. What I was being really annoyed with my 13pro is that it didn't automatically switch lenses while zooming during video recording. I always had to decide if I want to shoot in 1x or 3x. That's a huge one for me. Also the screen upgrade got me, better brightness in sunlight, down to 1hz pro motion for a better battery life.. better battery overall.... I didn't think this would be a big enough upgrade, but these upgrades are actually huge for me.
Not sure if its a feature of the new ios but I just shot video on iPhone 13 pro max today and it switched lenses seamlessly as I zoomed in, from 1x to 3x 👍

I only upgraded cause my speaker sound was getting low and I tried cleaning it but 3 years of working in dirty conditions took its toll I still had 84% battery health even though I always killed the battery at least once a day I got the iPhone 16 pro max 512gb in Natural Titanium I like the phone but could have waited another year before upgrading

TechRax did the usual iPhone durability test, and mann! The iPhone 16 PRO is just out of the blue. And ur comparison gives other reasons ++ . I think to upgrade to 16 Pro this year.
