Imagine if the ending went like this: Harold really does give Fiona the love potion because the Fairly Godmother actually watches him to make sure he does it, leaving him no choice. But to her horror, when Charming kisses Fiona, the potion still doesn't work because Fiona's love for Shrek is more powerful than the Fairy Godmother's magic. Realizing that Fiona will truly never love Charming, and she'd lost any chance of putting her son on the throne, AND that ogres CAN in fact live ever after, the Fairy Godmother snaps, and tries to kill Shrek and Fiona, only for Harold to jump in front of them, directing her magic back at her, and killing her.
Shrek was meant to be a disaster project, a place where animators and creatives in Dreamworks were sent and it was supposed to be Bad if you were sent there. Now this series is a masterpiece
Earlier I took a left and found your TLOU show reaction video. Then I noticed this video and I have to agree Shrek 2 is delightful. Down the rabbit hole I go! This movie gets me every time. There's such great pacing and comic timing, Donkey's relatable, "Are we there yet?" and the tension it creates, segways directly into Funky Town. Now I have to rewatch in and rekindle some joy. Oh my.. the Shrek headband, it's great!
I didn’t know any of the reference as a kid but all the scenes which had them still made me laugh. The way they were able to integrate the references so seamlessly into the story is amazing and tbh is kinda embarrassing that movies still struggle with it.
