actually no, she doesn't hate the dogs yet, notice how around the end she literally adopts them. this is something i hate because people always never explain this part when telling the story, she doesn't hate the dogs even when she tried to get the necklace back she still had a soft spot for them. it's like people saw the death scene and didn't watch the rest of the movie, if she truly hated the dogs then why does she take them? and why would they listen to her if there wasn't some sort of mutual trust? i feel like they'll explain everything else in the sequel and even in other renditions of cruella she doesn't actually hate the dogs she's obsessed with their fur.

"why can't villains just be bad?" the once upon a time version of cruella has a whole episode that makes it look like she'll have a tragic backstory, and then at the end of the episode she's like "no I actually am just a bad person" so... sometimes they can be
Agreed. I kinda miss that about current villains these days. Now these days we have to make sure that they’re sympathetic, to the point where they basically get a free pass from the things they’ve done. And in doing that, I feel like they lose what makes them scary and terrifying.
@@Kayoss13212 cruella is still extremely scary and terrifying, it's you lot missing the point. someone being "unapologetically evil" would equal no backstory (also no selling point), how would cruella be cruella if she had no motive? motives are what make good villains, not just being naturally evil. if you view her in such a light that the things she does is no longer cruel, then you're the one that took this movie wrong. this shouldn't change how you feel about the villain, it should make them more human. it's only redemption if you want it to be

So it’s really unknown how he got the scars and what started him to be bad in THAT movie .
I thought this was an interesting and entertaining movie. I liked some of the choices they made like using the dalmations as a gauge of how much Estella was becoming like her mother, the grunge aesthetic, and how they touched on the theme of nature vs nurture. In psychology you learn that it is not that people are born evil, but your traits combined with your life experiences lead you to the person you become. A known mass murderer (the Ice Box Man) had a trait of not being afraid or not being frozen by fear in dangerous situations. If he hadn't had a childhood of abuse he might have used his 'courage' in the face of danger to save others such as being a police officer, a soldier, or a firefighter. A different upbringing might have lead him to become a completely different person. Going back to Disney's approach to nature vs nurture, we see the same thing with Cruella. She is witty and has a strategic type of mind; the story offers us an alternate version of events, that Cruella is not evil for the sake of being evil. She was born with the potential of accomplishing anything, but it is her interactions with people who dismiss her or treat her poorly that leads her to the 'villain' we know from the original "101 Dalmations". Notice how every time she lashes out against someone it is only after she is wronged by that same person.

I feel like this is the wrong audience to say this... but I'm tired of Disney doing LA female origin stories in which the viallain is just misunderstood. Why can't she just be pure evil because she wants to, evil women do exist. I don't want a misunderstood Ursula. I want an Ursula who is not competent at ruling, nasty and evil who thinks her brother is weak and not fit for the throne and tries to steal it from him. "why can't villains just be bad?" the once upon a time version of cruella has a whole episode that makes it look like she'll have a tragic backstory, and then at the end of the episode she's like "no I actually am just a bad person" so... sometimes they can be
this movie reminds me of Birds of Prey AND THE SOUNDTRACK SLAP SO HARD TOO
Birds of prey was actually exciting
How
@@cara9751 I think it’s Kyulkung
Birds of prey is actually good ngl 😳
Honestly the soundtrack was the best part of the entire movie.
15:58 Ashley: "oh norrr"
Rosé is quakinggggg 😂
Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the screenplay for Devil Wears Prada, was involved in the creating the story of Cruella
This movie was SO good. One of my favorite Disney live actions.
Everyone: WHY DON’T YOU LIKE DALMATIENS??
Estella: BECAUSE THEY KILLED MY MOTHER OKAY? LEAVE ME ALONE
I was going to like but it's perfectly at 69 so I'll just leave a comment

'I love a good villain backstory'
three minutes later
'I just want a villain that's bad, no backstory'
It would have been so great if they'd just let Cruella be evil! It could have been a camp classic, like a more kid-friendly Death Becomes Her!
KID FRIENDLY DEATH BECOMES HER. I NEED THAT NOW IN MY LIFE
Agreed. I kinda miss that about current villains these days. Now these days we have to make sure that they’re sympathetic, to the point where they basically get a free pass from the things they’ve done. And in doing that, I feel like they lose what makes them scary and terrifying.
@@Kayoss13212 cruella is still extremely scary and terrifying, it's you lot missing the point. someone being "unapologetically evil" would equal no backstory (also no selling point), how would cruella be cruella if she had no motive? motives are what make good villains, not just being naturally evil. if you view her in such a light that the things she does is no longer cruel, then you're the one that took this movie wrong. this shouldn't change how you feel about the villain, it should make them more human. it's only redemption if you want it to be
I LITERALLY SAID THAT THIS MOVIE WAS A KIDS VERSION OF THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
The security guard reaction when she said she jumped like "bitch we know she didn't jump we saw everything"
“It reminded me of the Hunger games” oh yes hunger games with the outfit reveals of drag race
capital C-A-M-P
can we just appreciate all of the fashion throughout this video. those designers need a raise🦋
I watched this in the theater and when she said "that psyco cannot be me mother" the entire theater started cracking up
13:08 if you noticed in the movie when she gets the box of "gold nuggets" delivered but they're actually moth cocoons, the box says from africa too
ngl when the baroness was wearing the heirloom I thought she was cruella's grandmother
“kinda felt wrong enjoying it that much” my mom when she tells me to pray the gay away
Oh sweetie😭😦
tell her to watch that Greys Anatomy scene with Callie and her dad.. 🤪
When she said she “I can’t support the children beating eat other” got me dead !
No one can be pure evil when they are born. There has to be a reason. There is no people purely bad because they can (unless it involves power but thats not true for most Disney characters)
yes but that reason can also be non-substantial, like they just enjoy doing bad things and gain satisfaction from it.
@@shelbyjadan People don't just enjoy doing bad things unless they are sick as in like really twisted (which I don't think Disney would include) or they have a motive
mmm.. yes but what about a psychopath?
@@rftg1793 you'd have to experience some sort of trauma of some sort to become one. Plus, Disney isn't going to include a psychopath in their movies
@@mayabeatty1214 yeah thats why there movies are mediocre and repetitive it's like one of those Christian movies her acting was the same as bre larson or something xD
The soundtrack and the fashion were a masterpiece
Ash has the most delusional story ideas, but I’m here for it.
Ash saying she just wants a villain , reminds me of the joker in - the dark Knight- !! , the best villain ever , no back story ,no reasoning … “ some people just want to see the world burn “ !
But he got abused by his father I think...
@@Hmletmetry i get it tho , but we never know , he made that story up , cause when he threatened the girl he made a completely different story about how he got the scars , in that story it was his wife … so it’s tricky ; I thought what you said at first but when I watched again I was like wait a minute … 🤔 . So it’s really unknown how he got the scars and what started him to be bad in THAT movie .
@@v.o.s9973 Yeah true, I didn't remember everything. We can't know, that's why I love him.
Me and my best friend LOVED this movie.
The Baroness seems like someone who would never eat food from a cardboard box, yet here we are.
Every single song on this soundtrack is PERFECT and I love it
I think the reason I adore this movie so much is because my expectations were so low and when I actually ended up liking it I was shook
fun fact: emma thompson(the baroness) also played professor trelawney in harry potter
I had a theory throughout the movie that the butler was her dad and the hair was hereditary since he is bald.
I thought that too, I was shook when they revealed the actual twist.
12:52 THIS SCENE IS ABSOLUTELY *EVERYTHING TO ME!!!* I LITERALLY FREAKED OUT WHEN I SAW IT! I ALMOST SCREAMED IN THE MOVIE THEATER! 🗣🗣🗣
13:30-13:32 I am deceased. Ashley you have done it again; surpassing expectations in flying colors. I couldn't stop laughing to that little clip. It now lives rent free in my mind. Thank you and enjoy your day.
can we talk about her red lights & red fit, she never misses.
also her singing along with the soundtracks, i absolutely STANN
" yall arent in love with ur frens, thats weird" first of all maam i need said frens
ashley is now making me try to think of a villian who is just pure evil without a sad backstory
Frollo?
Jafar? (And actually cruella when she was obsessed with fur for fashion)
Someone else brought it up, but Voldermort.
the soundtrack and the outfits really brought this movie to a new level
The dynamic between the Baroness and Cruella was so amazing I was screaming when watching that movie
Disney spoiling cruella not dying is about the most Disney thing ever
Wdym we don't want her dead
@@lavenderbambi3501 I know but Disney putting that seen in the movie we’re she might die in the house fire only for them to promote the second cruella movie before most people could see it.

@@Melissastu really? There is literally a count on TH-cam of deaths in Disney movies.
Ok but like why doesnt anyone talk about how Ashley's voice is literally so pretty ahhhh, Girl can singggg
But we all know Disney will do the reverse in which Ursula is the smart, tactical and uber amazing woman to her incompetent sexist brother.
Thank you very much. I think Maleficent could work, but Cruella is a person who wants someone else's dogs so she could skin them for coats??
absolutely agree with this. I would love to see a female villain who’s just terrible, I don’t need them to be misunderstood or have a tragic back story. would be much more fun if they were just awful for petty selfish reasons.
