I think that Spider-Verse finally managed to make some people start to realize that animation is an almost limitless art form that can do so much if you can only think of it. This movie absolutely wouldn't work in live action, and if it did, it wouldn't be half as effective or visually interesting. This is basically art at its purest.
100% agree - it also began a new era of animation and animating styles, so everything doesn’t look like a Pixar product. Just look at The Bad Guys and Puss and Boots: The Last Wish - pure eye candy.

thissss, i’ve never been able to get into live action superhero movies but this movie is literally one of my favorite movies because of how innovative the animation is and just generally the things that the story was able to do because of the animation
The call back to "leap of faith" when peter asks miles how he knows hes not gonna screw up his relationship with MJ again makes me tear up everytime. Its actual a 10/10 call back and is the definiton of genius writing.
The What’s Up Danger scene will ALWAYS give me goosebumps. Truly one of the best cinematic scenes I’ve seen, the music, sound engineering, writing, animation and movement and direction all just fit together so perfectly. I can’t wait for the sequel!
It always gives me goosebumps and in addition to the goosebumps I also get teary eyed whenever I watch someone else react to it. Weird but enjoyable in a way XD
Fun Fact: The reason Miles broke the glass during his leap of faith, is because he was nervous, so his hands kept sticking to the glass, but he jumped anyway. Its also the reason Gwen keeps telling Miles to "calm down" when his hand is stuck in her hair. She's trying to get his hands to stop sticking.
Spiderverse was such a turning point in the world of animated movies. The way it leans so heavily into stylized visuals and found success because of it has made it more common now instead of trying to chase realism and that's so nice. I love animation so much and I love everything this movie has done for it

I cried so hard the first time I watched this and I cried even harder when my little cousins saw themselves in miles and said "he looks like me." This movie and Wakanda changed the black community forever.

Having just seen the sequel, I can tell ya the fact you zoomed in on the dude getting hit with the bagel is hilarious because it is SIGNIFICANT for the franchise as a whole and we are all none the wiser 😅
So mad at myself for missing out on seeing this in theatres, but I won't be making that mistake with the sequel! That leap of faith moment when Miles puts it all together had me with a lump in my throat. Actually, a lot of scenes in this had me choked up. I think that the reason why Peter Parker is only buried at the common area of the cemetary is because as MJ says, Peter always thought of himself as an everyman. Just a guy lucky enough to get bitten by a radio active spider and that Peter believes that anyone can be spiderman. Probably a symbolic gesture more than anything.
Man, that Uncle Aaron reveal really hit me in the gut the first time. There's a bunch of foreshadowing even and I still was caught off guard. The engineering job he did was the job for Kingpin, the reason he didn't answer the phone for Miles was because he was 'working', and the early nods that Aaron might be involved in some shady stuff. But it still hits hard even on re-watches. They did such a great job capturing the complicated mess of emotions on Miles, that it still rips my heart out.
Appreciation for the Spider-Gwen outfit! Don't think it went unnoticed! This is one of the most accurate "I tried to dress like the character we're watching today" fits I've seen from TH-camrs!

Never been a superhero gal, but had an eye on this movie for the longest time as I love animation. Saw a trailer for the next Spiderverse in the cinema and finally made the choice to sit down and watch this first one in January. It's become one of my favourites as the animation, the mixing of different animation styles and soundtrack is super engaging. Miles is also such a wonderful character, reminding me of my own teen years growing up, trying to build my own identity, finding my place in the world and everything else that comes with teenagehood! Not only is the animation good, but the other characters, worldbuilding and storytelling have so much charm and drama. Can't wait to watch the new one in cinema!
I just wanna say that I love the way ash just completely adopts a movie she watches and also the characters. Like she is clueless in the beginning but it soon becomes her child and in future if there's a sequel she treats it like her baby. I love that.

This is the movie that absolutely changed HOLLYWOOD AS A WHOLE (at the very least the animation side of it). It deserves ALL the respect and it was amazing seeing your first reaction to the greasiest movie of 2018. (This is fact)
I remember seeing this in theaters for my birthday and tearing up with just the sheer amount of beautiful creativity on display. Was fun being able to see someone go through the steps of their first view of the movie again and can't wait for the second one to come out.

So for those who are wondering what that " Approved By The Comics Code Authority " was at the beginning of the movie. It was an organization that was formed in the early 1950's before anything that Marvel or Dc has been published had to be sent there to make the stories weren't violent, sexual, have profanity, featuring words such as horror or terror in it's title, etc etc.

The "Leap Of Faith" scene will always give me full body chills something about it is just so beautiful also the Doc Ock scene where she gets hit by that flying truck never fails to make me laugh the same laugh as when Regina gets hit by a bus in Mean Girls, ive watching Into The Spider Verse like 3 times,plus this reaction and i always forget she gets hit by a truck and my reaction is the same as Peter's then i just burst out laughing
One of the first things I noticed when I watched this in the cinema is that the frames seemed really slow on the animation at first, almost kind stop-motiony. I found out later this was done ON PURPOSE by the animation team. They speed the frames up as the movie goes on to go alongside Miles' finding his feet as Spider-Man. Masterpiece.
when miles jumps from the building, the glass breaks because hes still sticked to the wall. that's because he's not a 100% confident on his powers and still can't fully control them. he makes the jump even when he's still scared and don't feel ready because he knows thats what it means to be a hero

Saw a trailer for the next Spiderverse in the cinema and finally made the choice to sit down and watch this first one in January. It's become one of my favourites as the animation, the mixing of different animation styles and soundtrack is super engaging. Miles is also such a wonderful character, reminding me of my own teen years growing up, trying to build my own identity, finding my place in the world and everything else that comes with teenagehood! Not only is the animation good, but the other characters, worldbuilding and storytelling have so much charm and drama. Can't wait to watch the new one in cinema!

I just wanna say that I love the way ash just completely adopts a movie she watches and also the characters. Like she is clueless in the beginning but it soon becomes her child and in future if there's a sequel she treats it like her baby. I love that.

I love Alberto Mielgo's design style, it's so realistic in it's movement but artistic visually, he's done some great stuff for love, death, and robots too

The way I teared-up or cried like 5 damn times watching this video, God I love this movie. Happy you finally watched it Ash and I hope you're looking forward to the sequel

This is the movie that absolutely changed HOLLYWOOD AS A WHOLE (at the very least the animation side of it). It deserves ALL the respect and it was amazing seeing your first reaction to the greasiest movie of 2018. (This is fact)

I remember seeing this in theaters for my birthday and tearing up with just the sheer amount of beautiful creativity on display. Was fun being able to see someone go through the steps of their first view of the movie again and can't wait for the second one to come out.

So for those who are wondering what that " Approved By The Comics Code Authority " was at the beginning of the movie. It was an organization that was formed in the early 1950's before anything that Marvel or Dc has been published had to be sent there to make the stories weren't violent, sexual, have profanity, featuring words such as horror or terror in it's title, etc etc.
You should totally watch Puss in boots the last wish Ashley!! You can definitely tell where the inspiration came from, and the story written for the film is awesome! :D
The "Leap Of Faith" scene will always give me full body chills something about it is just so beautiful
also the Doc Ock scene where she gets hit by that flying truck never fails to make me laugh the same laugh as when Regina gets hit by a bus in Mean Girls, ive watching Into The Spider Verse like 3 times,plus this reaction and i always forget she gets hit by a truck and my reaction is the same as Peter's then i just burst out laughing

One of the first things I noticed when I watched this in the cinema is that the frames seemed really slow on the animation at first, almost kind stop-motiony.
I found out later this was done ON PURPOSE by the animation team. They speed the frames up as the movie goes on to go alongside Miles' finding his feet as Spider-Man.

when miles jumps from the building, the glass breaks because hes still sticked to the wall. that's because he's not a 100% confident on his powers and still can't fully control them. he makes the jump even when he's still scared and don't feel ready because he knows thats what it means to be a hero

Sadly, Stan Lee died actually 2 days and a month before the release of the movie(he died November 12, the movie was released on December 14, both 2018). so he 100% voiced himself in the movie, but it was his last cameo in a marvel movie that wasn't through pictures or archival footage.

27:53 in the Marvel comics universe, Miles Morales came about as part of the Ultimate series, which are alternate universe versions of popular superheroes. A *LOT* of characters got Ultimate versions, including the X-Men, the Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop came from the Ultimate universe first, before it was an MCU addition), Fantastic Four, and, of course, Spider-Man.
The whole alternate universe came about because Nicholas Fury was selected as a super soldier test subject instead of Steve Rogers. That one difference created an entire dimension, which is part of the greater multiverse. Spider-Gwen came about much the same way, an alternate dimension where Gwen Stacy gets bitten by a spider instead of Peter Parker. When you looked up who the voice actress was earlier, before she took the moniker of Spider-Woman or Spider-Gwen, her original name was Ghost-Spider, and she is the "Spider-Person" of Earth-65 (our Earth, the one where you are making reaction videos, is Earth-616), so hopefully that helps make sense of why she is credited as Ghost-Spider. :)
