For new people, i always recommend sun screen as well. People tend to forget that you can get sun burned during the winter. For the external battery I would suggest to make sure to read the manual to see if its safe to charge in extremely low temperatures. You don't want to damage the battery and the device you are charging as well. Also, dont forget to leave some spare space in your backpack. If its too hot, you might want to take off your hoodie/sweater and just ride with a tshirt and jacket. Cover yourself in multiple layers to allow this, dont just wear a single thick sweater, the whole ride will be miserable.
A plastic bag for the food/liquids is always recommended to make sure the rest of the content doesnt get wet in case if you don't close your bottle properly with your gloves (or via impact).
I keep the tuning gear in my car but in my bag I keep hand warmers, a light neck gaiter, a smith no-fog cloth and snow eraser, some packets of sunscreen, electrolyte packets, and a small first aid kit with different sized bandages, emergency thermal blanket, an Israeli bandage, and a few other items for severe injury/trauma response.
I might need to invest in one of those jones backpacks. For me, a spare balaclava is crucial on colder/pow days. Mine always gets wet and it’s nice to have a fresh one cause I start to drool in mine a bit as the stoke levels rise 😂😂😂
If you're going to Heavenly, make sure to download a map to your phone. Cell reception is spotty on the mountain. Plus, it can be confusing the first time navigating the different runs. Enjoy!
can't find the video you did on turning but OMG, ever since I watched your vid my turns have improved so much. I am so much more confident and can really attack a hill. Finally did my first diamond and was in full control the whole way down. thanks!
I stuff everything in my pockets, so I try to be lightweight with everything. I use a collapsible water bottle from Vapur (best one) or Platypus. Another way is to use a partially filled 16 oz water bottle, but twisted/crushed to save room to fit in your pocket. I like the tape idea! My chest pocket developed a hole, so I couldn't use it that day for my phone or chapstick..
Personally try to avoid taking a backpack on the mountain but I do like to get Snow pants with Cargo pockets... and its not unheard of to see a pb or Vegemite sandbow get whipped out on the chair mid arvo
My essential list is much smaller to where if it weren’t for water I’d never have a bag even. Phone, wallet, water, weed, lighter and snowboard tool. Sometimes a pack of gummy bears too - chewy so my ears pop and sugar for energy.
I also carry stuff only in my pockets. as a beginning I still fall often on my back, not sure if I want to get a screwdriver stuck in my spine 😆😆😆 and since I'm not a TH-camr, camera and filming gear don't make my "essentials" list either. snow pants with big pockets and I'm good to go.
@@SnowboardProCamp Yes! Union Binding Co makes the "EXPEDITION ROVER 24L BACKPACK" and its pretty awesome! I picked one up this season and so far have been really impressed with the construction and features!
I'm going to get a little trailer on a sled so I can load it up with all the s*** you're talking about and drag it around the mountain just in case I need it. Don't forget the base grinder.
Hey kevin. Recently went snowboarding for the first weekend of the season. I’m an intermediate snowboarder but I caught an edge and landed hard and probably have a torn meniscus. Have to wait till the mri comes back but the ortho doc said that’s what he’s thinking it’s gonna be. Feel like my seasons ruined and now my confidence in snowboarding is shattered. Snowboarding is one of my favorite things to do and I’ve never had a bad injury like this. Looking for some advice from anyone if they’ve gone through something like this before.
I've suffered many injuries snowboarding. However my passion for snowboarding overrides everything. Be patient, let it heal, and you will be back on the hill. Part of snowboarding bud
You got this! When you get back on the hill start low and slow, then level up bit by bit. Confidence comes from familiarity, repetition ... practice and set small achievable goals.... for you is suggest the first one is getting back on the mountain.
Hey kev. Love the content man. When u are recording with with smartree stick how do u angle the go pro to get the shots that you get. Also any recommendations on go pro setting? Thanks man
High up on my essentials list are a flask of liquor and weed.
All day 😂
Burton 420 pack. Locked & loaded. Hip flask of rum. Yewwwww
I looove smoking a joint on the chairlift between my runs.. ☠️💕
My shoulder zipper pocket is called the ZA pocket 😂
Gotta stay warm somehow

Good point on a second balaclava! The jones bag is awesome!
Drool...... 🤤 🤤 🤤 lol
@@chuck__van ya I’m a mouth breather sometimes lmao
Nahh I use a medium size CamelBak with pockets with a water bladder, u don't next something fancy n expensive bro.
Very helpful video (I would have never thought to bring spare laces). I would add throwing a few snowboard binding screws in your bag.
Going to Tahoe for the first time ever snowboarding and found your channel appreciate the advice your beginner videos are sick👍🏻

Snacks are essential for sure. Especially if you're riding with your kid.
I put a 2nd set of liner gloves for my mittens in my knee pockets. After lunch I swap them for the damp ones I used in the morning.
Bivy bag for shtf and spare hat and thermal, always nice to be able to add a layer.
I always carry 3 beers and a joint.
😆

I usually carry parachord on me for such issues. But a multi tool is a must or even just a phillips head screw driver for binding adjustments.
Never know when you might need to change up someone's bindings on a blizzard 🤔 uh uh uh? Lol
parachord is a great addition, thanks for the tip

Union also makes an amazing backpack for those interested!

Would you ever do a video on go pro settings? Would be interested to know if there’s any tweaking available to benefit different weather etc
A bunch of zip ties and a multi-tool. Can’t believe how many times this stuff save your day....
Zip ties are huge! A lifty saved me in Switzerland with a zip tie and fixed my binding.
Im finally coming to whistler, will be there in March
Nice! Hope you get some sunny pow days!!!
Is gopro one ?
For sure! Forgot that one
Ellstacker no camera days are banned!
