- Today we decided to try something a little different from our usual style of vlog, after a lot of research we raided the supermarkets and bought a variety of (what we think) are Kazakh snacks!

Qurt is very strange at first but it’s highly likely you can become addicted to it just like I did over time. It’s like a survival food became a popular snack. I’m a Kazakhstan born ethnic Russian and in the past the Kazakh people basically helped my grandma to survive by sharing some Qurt among other things.
Yees,also the story that in one of the women's GULAGs, kazakhs gave qurts to them as it shows our nations hospitality :0 i heard from russians

Naturally horse milk is very sweet. It is called saumal in kazakh. Sweeter then cow milk. Kumis is a drink has made by fermenting horse milk. Like kefir has made from cow milk
Saumal sounds tastier! The one we tried wasn’t my favourite drink I must admit 😂 very sour!

We never eat tinned horse meat in Kazakhstan) at least me and my close ones never have eaten anything like that... correctly cooked horse meat and fat is very tender and the fat doesn't harden when cold unlike beef lamb or other type of meat, that's actually the reason our nomad ancestors preferred to eat it in winters when it's cold

Hello! You had the wrong bar of chocolate. This one made by Bayan sulu company. You should try which made by Rahat company. That’s the most famous chocolate in Kazakhstan.

Курт ктороый вы по пробовали относится к южной части Казахстана. Так как климат на юге жаркий и там предпочитают соленный курт, которые лучше восполняет потерю соли в организме во время жары.На севере употребляют кислый курт, на вкус как кумыс.
Кстати к кумысу лучше его пить не из магазина.
Кумыс в каждом регионе свой на вкус.Но обязательно пить его непосредственно там где готовят,так как технология продоваемого кумыса в магазине отличатеся от домашнего.
Жалко что не по пробовали домашний бешбармак!

1.Курт надо сосать, а не жевать. Тогда будет другой эффект. Я никогда не покупаю курт в магазине, потому что он не соответствует хорошему качеству. Я его делаю сама.
2. Вы правы, конина в банке пахнет кошкой, хотя она не должна пахнуть кошкой. Я сама однажды убедилась в этом, потому что плохого качества.
Хорошего качества только конина "Казы" фирмы Кублей.
3. Кобылье молоко, которое оказывается на полках магазинов, прокисает очень сильно, поэтому его лучше употреблять в свежем виде. Свежее кобылье молоко называется Саумал, он очень приятен на вкус, сладко-кислый, в отличии от покупного кумыса очень кислого из магазина.
Кобылье молоко Саумал очень полезно для здоровья, лечит лёгкие, нервную систему.
Not the best option to get mare's milk from supermarkets 😂 better to try it in farmers or sometimes you can get it on the highways cafeteria
It would’ve been great to try it from a farm but because we were based in Astana it was harder to find! Definitely not my favourite drink 😂

Ah yes this is true! Usually Pork gelatine is used in the UK but they never show on the packaging that it’s used unless they hide in the ingredients list

Hi! Because of my heart disease I eat mostly horse meat. I am Kazakh and I like horse meat more than any other meat. Surprisingly, the melting point of horse fat is 30 degrees Celsius.
Ah interesting, we heard it a much leaner meat with less fat and cholesterol so I guess this is why its a good option for many people ☺️

Homemade kurt is the best option, I don't like 'market' kurt and other types which are sold in stores or bazars (it is very salty and really solid). Welcome to my reality guys))) Thank you for this review of Kazakh snacks!!!

Qymyz and Shubat are not just Horse and Camel milk. They are fermented milks.
Especially Qymyz, could be as strong as beer.

There are different types of kurt. This one is not the best so you should try others. Some of them are very salty and go with beer perfectly, the others may have a cheesy taste, even like cottage cheese flavor and fine with some wine, you can also taste kurt made with goat’s milk, it’s nice one either (we also have our wines as Arba Wine, you can find em in Galmart). All that types of kurt you can find in a Galmart market (they didn’t pay me for the ad I promise 😂). It’s just where I usually buy kurt cause I’m a big fan of it. ❤ thank you for your videos! For example, if you compare homemade kurt or baursak with what is sold in stores, the difference will be noticeable. Homemade products have a richer taste, retain their texture and aroma, which are hard to replicate in industrial production

Qurt you dont have to chew it, simply stick in teeth and get liquid swallowing. Back in 1936 during political refugees were fed with qurts while local kids throwing qurt over the fence wall whom instructed by parents and apparently guardian soldiers did not know that qurt and thought just stones coming in. So this was a history and can visit Algeer refuge camp museum nearby Astana.

Здравствуйте, Эш и Дэн! Советую заглянуть в магазин и купить конфеты на развес от "Рахат"/"Баян Сулу". Как раз конфеты на развес пользуются большим спросом в Казахстане. Их довольно много, но мои самые любимые: Кара-Кум, Маска, Кипарис, Рахат, Грильяж в шоколаде. Еще плитку шоколада "Казахстан" делают две компании, "Рахат" и "Баян Сулу". По мнению большинства, вариант от "Рахат" в бумажной упаковке, самый вкусный и более натуральный.
Из снеков/чипсов советую попробовать: чипсы Болжау краб, ХрусTeam, Кириешки, они популярны как чипсы Lays. Курт и Кумыз лучше покупать у местных фермеров. Выйдет дешевле и вкуснее, также каждый готовит курт по разному, иногда он кардинально отличается друг от друга. Рекомендую попробовать "Шубат" напиток из верблюжьего молока, "Тан"/"Тан-дем" кисломолочный напиток, который хорошо помогает от похмелья.
Эту консерву-тушенку, надо было подогреть, попробовать с макаронами, кто есть в холодном виде? Эти все продукты вредные, не натуральные, я лично такое не покупаю...В Казахстане есть Каспийское море.Надо было рахатовские конфеты попробовать, они в тренде...😊

Hi! No offends about kurt. Its better to eat them fresh, and less salty. I dont like packed kurt as well. They usually are very tough and over salted

This "kurt" is factory made, soft taste.
You can find it at any shops marked JLC , they are many in Almaty selling kurt, milk and many milk products

In Europe, horsemeat is eaten by the Norwegians, Icelanders, Swiss and French. But it is hardly as tasty there as it is in Kazakhstan...
Mare's milk is similar in composition to breast milk.
Sour mare's milk is curative, so Kazakhs did not get sick with tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis patients were treated with kymyz, horse meat and mutton without problems. There are known cases of such treatment of German prisoners by Kazakhs after the First and Second World Wars.

There are 2 similar chocolates in Kazakhstan. One is from the Rahat factory, and the second is from the Bayan Sulu factory. The best one is from the Rakhat factory. Unfortunately, the one you have is from the Bayan Sulu factory. We don't like it

Choco Pie ужасный продукт, он пользуется спросом из за дешёвой цены. Алматинцы вообще этот продукт не покупают из за его вредности. Большое содержание сахара, и резинового вкуса. Choco Pie, это фирменный продукт корейского конгломерата Lotte. Но поскольку Lotte поглотил казахстанскую компанию Rakhat, то и в линейке продаж фирменных магазинах Рахат вынуждены продавать кондитерские изделия корейской компании Lotte.

Лол, даже казахи редко кушают курт, может быть раз в полгода, есть казахи которые вообще его не едят. Курт - еда путешественников лишенных доступа к нормальной еде, по сути это концентрат веществ требуемых человеку для минимального поддержания силы и борьбы с обезвоживанием. Потребление его в обычной жизни - безполезное занятие.

I don't drink alcohol, but judging by the name (“Polar Bear”), it's Russian beer - they wouldn't call it that in Kazakhstan... We don't see polar bears at all.... We prefer steppe names, with horses, etc.

У вас американцев нет своей традиционной культурной еды , кроме ваших гамбургеров и чипсов, ну может ещё стейк и все , так что нельзя кривлять лицо когда кушаете национальную еду какой то страны...

I never take canned meat from Russia, there is no meat there, but some kind of surrogate. So you have to look at who the manufacturer is. Russian canned meat can be very cheap, but it's like throwing money away.
And also, canned food even in the army is heated, not eaten cold, added to porridge, or make soup from them...))))))
