There was baursak on the counter, that's ours. It's fried dough, but without filling. Also you can't buy something with horse meat everywhere, especially if it's cheap, since it's the most expensive meat

Great video guys! Just out of curiousity how easy is it to get from Almaty to Aktau (I'm planning a trip from Urumqi -- Almaty -- Aktau --> Baku with the intention to get to turkey... thanks!
We did look at doing this route ourselves although our plans changed. Ofcourse you can do it the easy way and take the direct flight. However, we loved the Kazakh railway system so would recommend the train- even though it is a 45 hour + journey 😮
@@AshAndDan. Actually, i think that will be good for you if you next stop/city will be Shymkent, than Turkestan, than could be Kyzylorda and after Aktay. This option can give some experience of traveling in south part of KZ. There is a lotcolor of domestic/real life coz those city's is not so popular for tourists

However, we dont have nothing common with chinese or any other SE asian cultures. I would call it eurasian culture.
Ah yes, Eurasian is the best way to describe it! We really enjoyed the cultural mix. It's such an interesting country and so far it's been an awesome trip! We look forward to sharing the rest of our adventure

@@AshAndDan.it’s unsafe to eat in such kiosk places and they are not tasty at all. Food poisoning is often there. You should have tried good fancy cafes and restaurants in downtown but not in suburbs. Pinta is also awful place to eat. There are many cool modern places to eat in upper part of Almaty.

It's interesting, I never had this happen before. Back home often we get straws in certain drinks - cocktails or mixers but you would never see a beer with a straw in it! I understand if this is the reason though, it makes sense 😊

pro tip- if u guys really need some advice from a local one on the street, ask someone at the center, someone who most likely to be gayish, dressed really nice, they aremost likely speaks English and will suggest some cool places to visit (must have places even)
We have always been happy just making our own way around and having done a little research beforehand then just figuring out the rest as we go 👍maybe sometimes it works and sometimes not but thanks for the tips!

to be honest we were not influenced by Chinese culture, we have more of a nomadic and central Asian culture

Just take tickets for aircraft, railway (non recommend coz to far) or if you you are really crazy than take a rental car or go by taxi 😂

I think they give women a straw because local girls do wear lots of make up when they go clubbing and pubbing, so it’s more convenient for them.
