- So I decided to revisit Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019) recently. A game that in my opinion deserved more than just a 1 year release cycle and one that I would have been happy to see receive further development. the movement, gunplay, physics, art style and sound design in MW19 is easily superior to the last two instalments. It was also the first CoD in ages that innovated in those aspects.
The change of game engine was a step forward. Sadly they shoot themselves in the foot with BOCW and integrating all those broken guns to Wz.

@@juankovacs6033 I agree. I stopped playing WZ regularly after the CW integration. The weapon balance was in a good state prior to them adding 30 new guns.
Modern Warfare 2019 was also the first Call of Duty game I bought since Black Ops 2. Haven't bothered with Cold War and Vanguard though, they both seem like downgrades. Wake me up when Modern Warfare 2 2 is released.

Couldn't agree more that this game saved COD imo. Previous incarnations had tried too hard to be like Halo. It bought me back to a franchise i'd grown very tired of.
Cod never needed saving. It's still the #1 selling game every single year. As disliked as Vanguard is, it was still the #1 selling game. It might not be as popular on TH-cam and Twitch anymore, but the casual fan base carries it every year and will continue to do so.

Apparently I do because for some reason when the entire legacy fan base go to saying THIS EXACT THING, somehow here one of you are, talking about all the kids who got the game for Christmas.

I believe Activision did this game extremely dirty... MW has been riddled with problems since Cold Sore came out, and they act like it never existed and left it to die. This is the FINEST Call of Duty made in the last few years. I've had problems trying to play and even just install MW on my Xbox one. This was the last COD made pre-Corona, and you can tell the creators put huge amounts of effort and details into everything. Verdansk Warzone year one is one of the greatest gaming times I have witnessed. It deserved much better, hopefully with the MS acquisition we can move to more meaningful, spaced out releases and stop throwing the old releases out the window every single year. Not everything needs to be equal so people who are less devoted to being the best, or less devoted to understanding the algorithms of the game, or understanding the history of gaming through the years you play. Get better buddy if you don't then it's people like you that cry about things they don't like until enough of the sped chickens chirp up and realize they aren't as superior so you mass together and squawk the loudest.
If there was a cod game they could've experimented on and improved further upon, it was MW2019. Sure it had flaws and issues, but you could tell the devs treated it as a passion project after Ghosts and Infinite Warfare.
yeah, it shouldve went on for another year with added content. But, they wanted to make money and tossed aside the golden hen.

Best engine, movement, feeling & all of that we've had, the return of game chat, etc, played mostly SnD, one of the best search games, held down by terrible map design and SBMM
NGL i felt the SBMM less strickt in MW19 than in CW/vanguard.
hands down SnD was the best mode in MW i easly had over 2500hour in that mode alone

MW2019 absolutely saved COD, and I was so excited for COD when warzone first released. But as soon as they integrated Cold War, they killed it.
What drew everyone to Warzone and MW2019 was the darkness and the realism. As soon as all these cartoon characters with ridiculous looking outfits and glowing weapons and magical spawning iguanas started entering the game, it was ruined.

@@b__w_4565 well yeah but in contrast to the previous games it was kinda realistic. Sure it was no mil-sim, but you could actually play it without jetpacks, laser guns and super futuristic bullshit.
@@Tirajis I liked the serious Arcady ness of old cods, when it used to to still be kinda realistic but stuff Arcady like mw2 it wasn’t a tactical mil sim, but it was still realistic in a sense, that’s what I hate about new treyarch I wish it could be like mw2 again I just hate looking at glowing skins for weapon are fine, but I don’t like the character skins

This area was my teams drop point every single game. Brings back so many memories. Mainly of deaths and rages because we suck but memories nonetheless 😁

I remain so hopeful for MW2. I'm enjoying caldera but verdansk was incredible and of course kept us gripped for our lockdown evenings. Thanks again Tomo for your footage during that period. You've convinced me to take the lads back to verdansk through ground war.

@@seangrammer if you have hundreds of hours on verdansk and you enjoyed that map, I dont think you can say you like caldera... Caldera doesnt evn feel like warzone! Or let people choose: do you want caldera or verdansk? Download version with verdansk or with caldera
I miss verdansk from the 1st day caldera came out... never got bored of verdansk , so sad we can t chose the map we wanna play
MW2019 was a top tier game for me. I thought groundwar was super fun when it came out. It had its problems sure (both this mode and the game), but it was dope nonetheless. I just hated going back in time for Cold War and WW2. I wish they could’ve just did an alternate story in 2020, and 2021 while keeping it in the present tense. And tried to improve ground war rather than that weird Warzone mini in Cold War
They have a $300 million dollar budget to work with as well as almost a dozen studios working on it. Mw 2022 is built on Mw2019.
Mw future looks good. Xbox didn't pay 70m to let CoD die.

You can tell there was passion behind MW2019 and that infinity ward cared about it, less so applies to cold war although that could be discounted since they had to basically overnight rush to get it out. Sledgehammer just smashed bricks together for 4 years and said here ya go we made a game.
To be fair tho Cold War was originally SHG's. They definitely did a good chunk of campaign given the Burger Town mascot and Die Maschine Zombies if you compare the aesthetic to WW2 Zombies
@@spartacussmith7070 Raven worked on the campaign.. Sledgehammer were originally working on a project with Treyarch but that was scrapped as the two didn't work well together and according to Activision, sledgehammers development was a mess.
Anything Sledgehammer done on the game would've been scrapped.

Modern Warfare 2019 was one of the best. It had a great campaign, improved movement mechanics, and good graphics. It did have some issues, but compared to Cold War and Vanguard, it was perfect.
honestly i feel like treyach with Cold war tried to go an arcade style is fine an all but they lack vision, and SBMM, and lack of content. And some of the decisions where shit.
Cold War had a good campaign with major decisions to change the story and the Cold war setting could worked. Cold war zombies was fun and a great time.
Vanguard is just shit. I am sorry i hate it. the game has no identity, the campaign sucks ass, zombies we don't talk about, and it feels way to woke, and instead get a waterdown multiplayer, NO FACTIONS, bruh this game. If they wanted ww2 guns in warzone just shove them to Cold war and some of the maps to cold war. honestly cold war still needs more content, so that will work, but no Activision just had to be money-hungry cucks smh
@Deane from Red Hawk cold war is using their old engine, they only had 2 years to push the game out. Maybe, you had a shitty experience on last gen but its good on both next gen consoles. Do research before you start blabbing nonsense

@Robert Gunings i honestly preferred it since day 1, cold war has always been better than modern warfare in my opinion.
its sad that Activision just left this game to rot. it's nearly unplayable on consoles and there's no hope of any of this being fixed. MW2019 is my favorite of the Warzone Era CoD games, CW and VG multiplayer kinda sucks some off if you ask me
Right? Recently played on the series x and bruh, it’s unplayable. Very choppy experience since the latest update and 120hz has been removed from Warzone for some odd reason

I haven't played vanguard much, only that free weekend they had, but cold war is so underdone, it could have been so good had they waited another year to release it. Unfortunate
I dont play warzone on console, its unplayable tbh, but im still playing MW2019 mutiplayer and so far I havent find issues tho.

on the topic of Cold War and Vanguard weapons being too floaty at 1:44 mark, I completely agree with you. Overall feeling of MW2019 probably will never be topped by another CoD game seeing how they just go more and more downhill with each installment.
despite the problems MW2019 had, it was the biggest change in the game we've ever received in a cod game, way ahead of its time, one of if not the best cod made in terms of innovation, effort and gameplays/style.
The amount of attention this title brought to the franchise is absolutely incredible. Didn't quite like the multiplayer myself but it saved the game so I can appreciate that.
Attention? to... CALL OF DUTY? The FPS that has commanded the most attention for TWO DECADES second only to possibly Halo or Counter Strike. A remake of one of the best titles in the franchise COD 4: MODERN WARFARE? Are you perhaps 10 years old.

@@satsu3098 Call of duty had lost mainstream attention for a hot minute, BF had stolen all its players, people werent buying the games anymore. I hadnt bought anything since mw2 and BO1, because the titles were awful. Got B04 from a friend and played it for a short bit. 2019 was the first interesting title the name has had in a decade.
MW19 can never catch a break, its probably one of the only CODS that gets unfair/stupid criticism. Some criticism is actually fair like the map design but so much people will complain about campers yet thats the case because they're so bad they get chucked in with campers. And you have one side of the spectrum saying its too tactical. And one side saying its too arcadey and shoulda just went with realism. This game can never be right in the eyes of people and it deserves ALOT more credit than it gets.

the camping issue is more with how the game inherently encourages it. the map design, radar, spawns, ttk, and the ghost perk are reasons as to why people complain about mw2019 being the most campy cod game we've gotten in a while

@@limnakama I think it had the perfect amount of realism and tactical factors implemented. The game showed amazing attention to detail, unlike vanguard or cold war, but it somehow retained the classic call of duty vibes that everyone loved. You can set up your operator to be super tacticool, or just straight-up silly. Its amazing

2-3 year release cycle with good content updates at the quality of MW 2019 is vastly superior and could probably generate almost, if not just as much, money as yearly releases along with much more support from the community

I'm glad we're getting a sequel this year and I hope they give up this yearly release idea to focus on perfecting it. MW2019 felt like an actual game with vision, whereas Cold War and Vanguard were both just the usual COD clones. I wonder if they'll build out Ground War even more, to capitalize on BF2042's disaster.
MW 2019 got me into COD. The movement, gunplay, maps, etc are so good. First game I also really ever sunk my teeth into, especially with Warzone eventually being added before the Cold War integration.
It’s a shame Activision has to make these games yearly. I would’ve been totally fine with another year of MW content over Cold War’s 2 years of development and the very underwhelming Vanguard.
Of course, COVID lockdowns also helped me really get into the game. Can’t go anywhere? Fine, I’ll just jump in MW or Warzone, which dropped right as everyone went into lockdown. Couldn’t have better timing for a new and fun BR than when everyone has to stay home for months and months. I was working from home, so I could pretty much immediately jump into a game after work was over.
Can’t wait for Infinity Ward to have control again later this year. MW2 could be great, so I hope they don’t squander their chance. Everyone is basically waiting on it and if it’s bad, a lot of people will be done with COD for awhile, until Microsoft takes over.

I could absolutely rant about how much I loved this game for hours but to narrow it down to one thing is the gunsmith system. It felt like create a class meant something again and the amount of builds you could have with a single gun was absolutely insane. Not to mention the memes that came from it. I don't know it had a soul that wasn't there when I went and played cold war, yet I feel as if that game got way more praise despite in my opinion moving the franchise back two years on the technical side and the gameplay side.
I actually had the most fun in a videogame in years when MW2019 came out and it was just pumping content, there was a story to the characters (even tho it was a bit vague) and i wasnt even bothered paying 10€ for the season pass, cause there was so much to do and big sense of accomplishment with every aspect, then Warzone came out and it went wild, there was a connection between the multiplayer and warzone with characters, weapons, map and even the challenges. But it all went downhill when Cold War launched, it wasnt as fun because the season pass changed to Cold War and Warzone (keep in mind you could still buy it in MW multiplayer , even tho you couldnt use any of the items, even tho they were same items as before in stickers, cod points, emblems etc) multiplayer seized to exist in developers eyes and everything became bland cause there wasnt any content and they removed a lot of stuff added into the multiplayer. Even now i think there is a bigger audience for MW than Cold war or Vanguard, because they are basically just cheap copies and it shows.. I am hyped for their new game but that is all there is.. Hype, i am bothered if im even gonna buy it even if it looks and plays great. Cause i know they are just gonna abandon it after a year..

When the "Shoot the Ship" playlist came up, that was all I played. So much fun and so fast paced that things could shift in seconds. I'd just bought a capture card around this time and I learned so much going back and looking at old clips. Some brilliant moments, a lot of laughs.
Out of all of the cod games in recent years, this was the only one that I actually enjoyed
i originally played MW while living with my brother in law and slowly got into Warzone. When I moved out of his place i purchased a laptop and played Warzone/Plunder/Rebirth exclusively for about a year. I finally decided to buy MW to unlock the Grau and grind Camos and I forgot how much material was in that game ( many Blueprint Challenges and Special Op challenges). There are so many locations within Spec Ops and MP that would have made great POI's on a new BR map

I was pretty burnt out on Verdansk and was super excited for a new map, but I can't stand Caldera. It feels like they took the worst parts of Verdansk and just expanded that into a full map. Absolutely blows my mind how they dropped the ball so hard. I wish I could still play Verdansk in Warzone.

My first COD since BO and boy I loved it so much. I remember I was short on money to pre-order it so had to wait for atleast 1month after release and that 1month of wait felt like almost 1year LOL. Made awesome new online friends in game exchanged each others phone numbers, played late night and to be honest WZ or S&D in multi just saved us during COVID and lockdown.
This game get’s too much hate. It’s lack of lootboxes alone is amazing!
I prefer loot boxes over the current system ngl
Last time I jumped into this game was about 5 months ago, loaded into a groundwar, spawned immediately got killed, the killcam was some dude with a RPK shooting a wall in their spawn, left the game, loaded into another match, where I was killed again but the killcam showed some guy using riot sticks and hitting thin air, getting hit markers and killing me on the other side of map, after that I uninstalled and left for good.
Well, that's Ground War for you. It's always been a clusterfuck mess, not sure why people play it. standard multiplayer was the best in MW
MW was the best entry in the COD series in a long long time. The multiplayer was a lot of fun. The movement was fantastic. The intro of Verdansk and warzone was fantastic. I really thought COD was back. And then came Cold War 🤦🏻♂️ Caldera is ok but I do find myself missing Verdansk

@ARandomInternetUser Games the fact that people say, "ThEN CaMe cOlD wAR" cold war was crappy on last gen, its way better optimized then mw 19 on next gen(and before you cry and say graphics) treyarch has never had games look like infinity wards so that'll be irrelevant to say. Point is, on a 4k 120hz display, with dolby atmos or 3D audio, 120fps, 120fov, and a next gen console and pc, yeah cold war was not shitty

I had not played a new CoD game for more than a few weeks, since BO2, and then all of a sudden MW19 just hooked me back in. This game is the greatest CoD release in the last decade, it just looks, feels, and plays so much better than any other new release. When Cold War and Vanguard came out, I went right back to playing the new CoD for only a few weeks before giving it up
the problem of MW is Infinite Ward doesnt hear the community of CoD, they could fixed the visibility, TTK, minimap, and other things, but I really like this game anyway lol
I agree somewhat on visibility, and it actually plays into the minimap, but TTK is definitely a dead complaint to me. Gunsmith made TTK so variable that it was almost player choice and every gun was viable if you took the time to learn it and gear it up to work for you. People were just too obsessed with meta this and meta that to go out and experiment on their own. As for the minimap, IW is on record saying that they changed the minimap because they wanted players to pay attention to the game and use their senses rather than watching the minimap and I agree with them on that. Then again, I've always preferred HC for that very reason, so I admit my bias there. I really wish realism mode would've more popular.
I actually like the ttk in this game. I dont think it should be like cold war where i need to put half a clip into someone just to kill.
I loved the small things they added like mantling on any ledge, and the dynamic door system. I think those were great COD additions. Their attention to detail with sounds and animations were awesome. Inspired 1st person animators immediately after its launch. Just on a whole other level. I would have liked to see it supported longer as well.

Some of my most treasured moments in gaming for me, was on gunfight with my mate and playing for hours!
Easily the best COD since BO2. After Advanced Warfare, I hadn't cared much for gaming in general before Warzone released. I got sucked into it and fell back in love. Really sad to see the state of that game after the two disappointing integrations. It was so much better before. I've since moved on to Apex, but Warzone (pre-cold war) and MW2019 will always have a place in my heart
Can't get armor in modern warfare. People glitch "tempered" perk into the multiplayer. Since it's in the game files they figured out how to use it. You start with full armor. Basically. Don't think you can replate tho
MW2019 got me back on COD and kept me sane through the early stages of the pandemic.
If I was a IW developer and after all my hard work w MW19 saw that CW and Vanguard became id be so disappointed like taking 2 steps back
Damn I wish single pistols are viable on warzone. I would love to make a hip fire x16 class. The way the character fires from the hip looks so sick 0:53
there really needed to be a dedicated pistol slot. that plus removing the perk that speeds up weapon swap would make pistols useful in Warzone.
I loved this game! It’s gunplay was best in series, its visuals and audio design were amazing, it had some good MP maps along with some bad ones, admittedly and its gun customisation was revolutionary! Truely an amazing game!
My buddies and I played this game consistently up until summer last year. I think it's time to pick it up again. It's a masterpiece.
There was a glitch in a last update which allowed players to equip the Tempered Perk from warzone after playing one game in a normal multiplayer match. It was absolutely abused in HC s&d players until they patched it. Tempered was never removed from multiplayer tho, they just stopped more people obtaining it (I got it on 1 class just before the patch). Only a handful of people I've come across still using it and that's the only time i use that one class to humble them.
It was funny tho when people thought they had the upper hand cause they had plates but still get absolutely s*** on, and when they realise they arent the only one with plates in the lobby.
This game was amazing and brought back my passion for competitive FPS games in general. I hope the sequel is also amazing
This brings back memory.. After school I used to immediately jump into the ground war lobby and game for hours. Iirc I have about 300h on ground war alone. So sad they killed the perfect cod..
As someone who primarily played CoD 4 (MWR more specifically) up until MW19’s launch, I loved this game. Felt like the first game in a while that understood cod’s original formula. Despite the new graphics, it felt like a classic CoD
MW2019 brought me back to COD for the first time since MW Remastered, and before that, Black Ops 1. I played a lot of MW 2019. Then I started playing Black Ops 3 and 4 for the first time and when I tried going back to MW I couldn't stand it anymore.
I haven't been able to play MW since they did that warzone update for the Pacific map. It literally freezes my console so I stopped playing it 2 months ago and won't pick it up again. Glad I spent$40 after Thanksgiving to play it for 3 weeks till it crashed, thanks!
This place was my usual drop zone. The school and IHOP always had enough loot for a load out and there was mostly always a buy around. I miss verdanks
MW multiplayer was underrated just because Warzone brought so many old fans back ! Imo The game brought back its strength but .. Blackout got a lot of the die hard fans excited again - that set up for what Warzone was
This was the first cross play call of duty. It built off of blackout and created warzone which is a huge success and now we are getting warzone 2 this year alongside “mw2” this game was revolutionary for call of duty.
I still play Ground War, despite some annoying balance issues and spawns, the gunplay will probably still hold up for a long time given how AAA games are going
This game was beautiful! The sound, the gunplay, the maps! They were such an upgrade from past games.
All of the art and gameplay direction for mw2019 was so dialed in. There's so many little effects and details that we took for granted as we got used to them and played the game. It's crazy to me that after setting the bar so high, other games simply haven't followed up. I mean hell the newest BF was a complete disaster, if you played these 2 games back to back, you'd think 2042 was the one that came out 3 years ago.

I think MW19 was by FAR the best installment in the past decade and maybe even more. Campaign, multiplayer and then warzone of course. Genuinely might be my favorite cod ever.

You know I still play mw exclusively I don’t even touch the other weapons in warzone . And when people ask why I just they have a better feel and I don’t know why I have some respect to mw for some reason.and I’m also aware that a bunch of mw2 ogs are gonna come along and call me a bitch for liking mw, it’s my opinion.anyways just wanted to put that out there.
The one thing that killed it for me was no FOV slider on console. That's one of the things Cold War got right. I'm really hoping they bring it back for MW2022. It's like playing a completely different game going from 80 to 120 field of view.
Love to see the cod community coming together to say that MW was treated a bit harshly. It’s a game that to this day I still love playing.
I definitely don't think it's the whole CoD community we're seeing here. Many of the hardcore run n' gun fans HATE this game..... which is like, most of the fanbase lol
MW2019 is in my all time top shooters. Grew up playing PC Battlefield 2, 2142, CoD4, BF2: Project Reality Mod, and dropped off for a bit, then this game released and I've been hooked on it since. I've always loved Search and Destroy modes or big maps with vehicles, so it filled 2 gaps at once ahah
Trying to keep my expectations low for MW2022 since CW and VG just don't feel or sound as good to play. We truely did get spoiled with MW2019's quality, cannot wait to see what IW do with this new one
Hope Microsoft is willing to try a 2 year cycle with MW2. A 1 year cycle is just way to fast, especially with warzone being a thing now.
My main gripe with MW 2019 was the camping, but everything else about that game was just leaps and bounds, and way more entertaining than anything cod had produced in a long time, especially with warzone .
i only play this game offline with veteran bots. there is an issue that bothers me that as of vanguard season 2 they still hasnt fix the warzone perks and the operator tab is broken i cannot select operators properly anymore.
Modern Warfare had the help of real weapon specialists for the animations(character blocking and weapon system operation). It's the only CoD I play these days specifically because of how good the game looks and plays.
The only thing this game was missing, that would have made this game perfect in my opinion, was the ability to lean and peek around corners (without having to mount your weapon) like other games have such as R6S, Insurgency Sandstorm, Ready or Not, Zero Hour, and Escape from Tarkov have done.
I think Warzone had the best timed launch of any game in history. Just 9 days after its release states and countries started issuing stay at home orders, allowing people to play and stream Warzone at an unprecedented level.
I wish I could play MW but the PS4 version just won't install on my PS5. Such a shame.
The thing about the vanguard guns is exactly what you said. Floated, not grounded. Too loose, no feeling of weight as if you are holding an inflatable gun. Miss Verdansk
This COD game was one of the ones I skipped. I didn’t even bother watching reviews or gameplay, I just stopped playing COD for years. That’s a great game though. I’ve been playing lots of Warzone and Vanguard lately. Btw, you’re an amazing player.

It's funny it seems like tons of videos on TH-cam now have a "..." at the end of the title. Must boost views for whatever reason. Doesn't bother me, more just think it's interesting. Maybe implies that there is a greater point that will be expounded upon in the video which makes us want to click and find out? The fact that we’re getting a continuation to this game gives me hope for cod. Mw19 felt so nostalgic like mw2 and bo2 days I had so much fun on those games.
The only thing holding MW19 back were the maps and SBMM tbh. Everything from the graphics, gunplay, the guns themselves, presentation, audio all were great and great improvements over past titles. But it got to a point where all I was playing was Shoot House and Shipment because I didn't feel like playing default playlist and getting something like St. Petrograd or Piccadilly god forbid. Also when Warzone dropped, you could definitely tell multiplayer because an afterthought.
It's funny I did this exact same thing last week and MW19 feels so much better. It still absolutley dominates graphically even over CW and vanguard. It also felt good to be back in verdansk even if it was just ground war.

I started on warzone then came back to modern warfare and they both became my favourite COD games ever, they will be missed
Crazy to think this game will be 3 years old later this year. Really wish CoD would change their release schedule to one game every 2/3 years instead of yearly. This game is still the best CoD of the past 3 games and deserves to be supported further.
the armour bug is an exploit people have carried over from the tempered perk due to the warzone application still being linked

I recently started playing MW19 as well and I was like why haven’t I been playing this all along? So much better than Vanguard and Cold War. I absolutely loved Cold War but it’s such a different type of gameplay.
this game made me want to get a way to play it cause I have not been much of a gamer. so I built a PC just for that. I really hope the sequel is as good.
Couldn’t agree more. Still have a great time playing this game. MW 2019 is a legitimate next gen title. Cold war and Vanguard literally feel like i’m playing on Xbox360 in hardcore mode

I've been wondering if the Ground War playlist was still in this game, wasn't sure if they would remove it because they wouldn't want people to actually be able to play on Verdansk & compare it to Caldera head to head, but nice to see you can still play Verdansk in some form at least
Ah jeez I do miss this game. And map. You’re so right about the feel of the weapons. Been trying to put my finger on it. Defo the weight. They felt meaty in a way CW and VG just don’t.
I missed verdansk after trying the new map like 3 times... I dont understand why theres no cover, yet so many things block line of sight. and its just a green mess with poi's only on the edge of the map??

A lot of people hated this game but playing search and destroy with my friends and doing 1v1's on Rust brought me back to the MW2 days
One of my biggest complaints was the lack of warzone playlists. The constant playlist rotation was also annoying. I just don't understand why they couldn't keep all the game modes available. Realism and mini-Royale and buy backs was easily my favorites.
I miss playing MW2019, I havent been able to play it or warzone since Caldera, it has absolutely broken my game on my xbox one no matter how many updates or reinstalls, I hope it gets fixed
