This is one of my favorite rougelikes! Nearing 100 hrs, the different class challenges are pretty fun and playing on mastery 25 results in the craziest builds by late game. Super cool that you’re checking this one out!!
I bought it in EA, and I'd say you're not totally wrong, but it's not quite a tower defense IMO. You aren't building a path for enemies to walk through, with things attacking them all the way. Instead you're just managing hitting things as they come, and you have to make your character stronger. It gets a bit crazy with enough upgrades. The wizard/mage character goes hard.
Thanks for reminding me about this game. I remember you playing it some time ago. Now that I have a steam deck I can start to play some of these games you play. This is on the wish list because I just started Okami today.
on your comment that some paths feel shorter, counting the tiles the north path has 4 tiles, the south path has 5, east and west have 7. they look pretty uniform in size so they seem like a nice measuring tool. also the orbital arrows seem to always or it around approximately 3.5 to 4 tiles away on every lane. so i would say for sure they are different lengths.
A run I had one of the first element changes was titled like 'missiles, more missiles, infinite missiles' and all the changed nodes were missile upgrades..... easy run. Had most of that game at 2x speed afk and got a drink.
It was so painful to watch you take Stimpack over Hail of Arrows (most op ability on archer since it comboes with others like the one for the circular arrows). All in all I recommend focusing on going far in the tree to find more epics/legendaries than buying random commons that don't go anywhere, but it was a nice run. And also try and do the challenges, some of them unlock new legendary talents for each character, super important! Hope you upload more of this one Dan :D
I really love that your channel has found such a great niche with these small roguelites.
The lack of webcam and calm voiceover feels very classic.

Am I crazy to think this is like a minimalist tower defense game at its core? Looks like something that could soak up a few simple relaxing hours.
