    Safety glasses. Dust mast, hand gloves. Duct tape on the sink surface stops the drill bit from sliding.

      Great video, he has the proper gloves, you're not supposed to have gloves when using rotating tools, the ones he has will rip off so it's not an issue. Just safety glasses, great video.

    All good points. Should you drill holes diy? By all means. Buy the tools, do research, try on scrap material first and drill. If a professional can do something, anybody can learn and do it themselves.
    Suggestion: drill a hole in piece of wood. Clamp it down on the sink and drill inside. This will keep the drill bit from skating and You can even fill it with water this way, for colling and dust reduction.

    Great video, I really appreciate your advice. I would advise some eye and hearing protection as well as a dust mask.

    I really don't get putting this on the drain ridges so water will drip around facet base. .

    Hello, we have the same Ikea sink and I am trying to drill a hole for drinking water faucet, but the position of your drill hole has almost 2 inches thickness , if I look under and underneath surface is not a flat surface.

    Would this method possibly work with a fireclay sink? Thanks.

      More likely yes, but you would need softer core bit.
      Like for marble. This way it would not chip.

    I have a rounded shank diamond drill bit and a handheld drill with key. How do I keep the drill bit from shifting since it is not a hex drill bit?

    What do you mean by angled?

    • @ThePaulg123
      @ThePaulg123 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think he means just as you begin to start at the angle he did as that prevents the tip from skating/flying sideways across your sink, when it initially makes contact with the smooth ceramic surface, then once the drill piece is penetrating the the sink then you can start to point it straight down and so it won't shoot off to the side anymore.

      Most of the faucets or osmosis are 1 inch 1/4'' in.

    where are your safety glasses? "Bad video" and you should put clear tape on the place you are cutting on so you don't splinter the sink or wobble with the drill... BOO!
