One of my favorite Celebration Day live after Osaka '71 day two. Towards the end, the ultimate jamming from triple J were fantastic, especially Jonesy's bassline!
Zeppelin flying on all cylinders. This is exhibit A of why Bonham was such a great drummer, he just absolutely storms on this one. Shame that the SB of this show suffers from the loss of all the high end like a lot of the SBs from '71.
That's how they were in the early years ! Forget that SRTS version ! By 1973 Robert had a bad vocal strain from giving 150% every show for 5 years . It must have been so difficult for him ,not to be able to do what he was once able to do . Always great ,but 1970 was the peak year ,in the tour for the 3rd album ,that I've seen . Beyond belief !!!
The board tape from the Garden on 7-29-73 is pretty damn slick. Not quite the blazing version as here in ‘71 but…Jones does come up some serious chops there!
You can find the full show here: th-cam.com/video/9FYUVdPMQg0/w-d-xo.html. I might upload just the audience recording of this as it’s a bit different from the soundboard.
This must have been the last time that they ever played in Toronto? They seemed too have avoided it like the plague after a fairly early point in the 70's ? Don't blame them . That left it open to "The Who" to claim the city . They did pretty well there . Stones also .
Plant's vocal range is out of this world, in fact the four Zeppelins are out of this world... ❤️
1971 was their peak

My head literally exploded when I first heard this. Brilliant
How's your head?
I'm almost levitating listening to this!! 🤓
Jones essentially speaking is the bands’ second guitarist. How the hell did he learn to play picking chops like this? He’s outright PHENOMENAL here.
3:42 Has lived rent free in my head ever since I first listened to this.

You may be right about that! They were on fire. Love those early years

Luvvvvvvvv
The gods of thunder. Case closed.
Agree with this being GOAT overall.. I'd say 03-09-71 New York MSG celebration day has the best bass though
Can u upload the whole show please

Wow Robert’s voice was so different compared to 1973
the original voice
1971 was his peak.
They took a song about celebration and turned it into something that sounds like the end of the world.
