I was 13 when I saw LZ here in Toronto in September 1971, a couple of months before they released the fourth album. One of the first concerts I'd attended and I'm still blown away by it. I can actually hear some of it. The last time they ever played Toronto.
@@afox7376 Yeah, I know dude. I'm a complete Led Zeppelin nerd, I've virtually got all their concert dates and itineraries memorised in my head 😎 (I wasn't doubting you)
@@peteshaw7848 A show was announced here for April, 1977, but it fell through. Zep's manager, Peter Grant, had it out for Toronto promoters going back to the band's first shows here in 1969.
This is great, excellent sound clarity. I saw them live in London in 1971, the same year and believe me this is Zeppelin at the height of their powers, it never got better than this! Sadly after Plants throat op, around '73, he could never hit the high notes quite the same as he could before. Similarly as Page descended into a dwindling spiral of drug addiction, by the mid '70's, his playing became a lot looser and sloppier. In my opinion their live quality in '71 was the best it ever was, although for sheer tightness, the '69 version was perhaps even better, but lacking the incredible song repertoire of Led Zep 2 through Led Zep 4.
joe smith Sadly, you are correct. I love the MSG version a lot but hearing Plants range in this just stunning. Clearly two different voices pre and post OP.
@@AS-fn3qk Check out 9/19/70 Madison Square Garden evening show ! I was there . Better than any show I've ever heard ! Better than they ever were again ,even though the songs got better ,Plant had is full vocal range that was out of this world GREAT !!!
why doesn't the rest of the toronto show have the bass high in the mix? This is the best version of Celebration Day ever, yet the rest of the concert is a bit flat in the playback.

I was always curious as to why zeppelin stopped playing in Toronto after 71. They played Vancouver and montreal 73, 75. In 75 they played Van for 2 nights back to back. Did they hate Toronto?
@@afox7376 They planned a show for 1977 at Maple Leaf Gardens but it was ultimately cancelled due to Robert's laryngitis that caused the tour dates to shuffle around.
Full Fledged High Voltage Rock n Roll at its Finest. ZoSo 222
JPJ is like a freight train that can't be stopped on Celebration Day! Absolutely amazing version....he just plows through everything in this mix.
This sounds like the double neck on the twelve string and my god the bass is killing it
This was at a time when four gods formed a rock band ...
The Heaviest Band of all Time/aka GOAT-Celebration Day 71' sounds epic Percy's voice is on Point....
this era made them legends

It's ridiculous that they never played in Toronto again, after this show.

Uh never? Page's guitar performance of '73 was amazing.
Japan 1971 / Late 1971 was the best period of Led live
joe smith totally agree..zep 71 was their absolute finest

Possibly the best CD ever. Can't see how JPJ keeps the train rolling with the bass. Friggin awesome.
When the drums kick in...0.54...good...grief...beyond words.
What a great version of CD. They’re all on fire!
this song is always better live....

sounds more like 73 than 71 .Robert had a higher pitch in 71.
The Celebration Day performance is definitley from 71. But Rock and Roll is clearly 75.

Peter Grant wouldn't book Zeppelin here, it was his way of saying f*** you to local promoters that previously tried to screw him around.
