Why on earth did his parents convince him NOT to take that plea deal!? Especially in a place like strict Texas that will give you a life sentence for littering (just kidding but you get the point) and the murder of an innocent woman in her very own house. However, I don't feel comfortable with Kristi getting life while he got the death penalty. This never would've happened if it wasn't for Kristi.
Because he’s a spoiled child who is not held accountable for his actions, they really thought their son can slaughter two people and walk away into the sunset, scot free. They’re all delusional, you’d think they’d show compassion that someone is dead. And just to think they never would’ve gotten caught if he wasn’t running his mouth bragging about it 😢

I can’t help but feel an injustice was done. The mastermind and co conspirator didn’t receive the death penalty. I’m glad he took responsibility but I think life would have been more appropriate and the daughter should have received the death penalty. Without her, it wouldn’t have occurred.
It’s a female, rarely are they held to the same level of accountability as men in the legal system.

Damn! Big Texas doesn’t fool around with the death penalty down there! He was only on death row for 8 years and put to death at age 27. Big Texas is serious.

Great episode - I had never heard of this case before. I'm totally shocked at how quickly Dillingham got the needle though. There must have been some odd circumstances because MOST death row inmates don't get their dates for 20+ years after being sentenced. Very confusing how they were able to do it within 7 years!

Yeah, I heard of this story and have seen it on a few on crime channels, and I always wondered the same thing...I know it's Texas and all, but death row inmates still usually stay years on death row and 7 years or so was all it took for this dude, it's perplexing. And I haven't seen or heard as to why. Or just why, in general, someone dies sooner than others. The one thing I can think of is when a quicker death comes to an inmate, that maybe they just didn't follow thru with their appeals. And allowed their fate to come sooner rather than later

This was a miscarriage of justice, no question.
If Jeffrey Dillingham got the death penalty by lethal injection (he was executed on November 1st 2000, aged 27), then his two accomplices in the brutal murder of 40-year-old Caren Koslow and attempted murder of her husband Jack Koslow in their home, should have been executed too. That's the couple's stepdaughter /adopted daughter Kristi Koslow, and her boyfriend Brian Dennis Salter.
Kristi Koslow masterminded this crime aged 17, along with the man she was sleeping with at the time, her then 19-year-old lover Salter - he brought his pal Dillingham on board, also 19, on the promise of a $1million fee. Apparently Salter lacked the balls to kill two unarmed, sleeping people in their beds, alone!
Salter was a coward before he committed this crime, and he remained a coward afterwards - as did his scumbag girlfriend Kristi Koslow, who started the whole, revolting sequence of events in motion. Without her, there would have been no crime committed, and Caren Koslow would not have been violently murdered by two young males, her life horrifically ended at just 40. Kristi's motive? She was angry her adoptive dad divorced her adoptive mom. Boo-hoo!
It's irrelevant that Kristi Koslow wasn't present at the crime scene, during these deparved, bloody murders. Kristi came up with the double-murder plan, she directed events, and she gave the two killers the security codes and floor plan to the home, to enable them to commit the crime. She very sensibly didn't physically take part, so she could convincingly play the innocent after her parents' deaths (though despite her intentions, her hated adoptive father miraculously survived). In many people's view, Kristi Koslow's sly cowardice makes her worse than the killers!
If you had to apportion blame for this heinous crime, the man who wound up executed for it was actually the least culpable!
In the view of any reasonable person, it's clear all three were at least equally to blame. So why did one, Dillingham, live with the shadow of his execution for years before being killed? The other two languish in prisons to this day, allowed to live and given taxpayer funded bed and board until they die of natural causes. WRONG!
The daughter and her boyfriend got away with it. they should have got it at least for hiring a hitman
Texas don't play when it comes to the death penalty.
"Hang 'em high Texas". America one of the few western countries to give the death penalty to a minor. He was 17 at the time of the crime and clearly seemed to have some mental deficiencies. His confession to the investigators was likely naively thinking he had to tell the truth. Where were his parents when he confessed? They should've helped him to lawyer up and maybe he would've got life imprisonment instead. In another country his confession might have been thrown out because of his age and lack of representation at the time.
All our states should learn from Texas

His parents were very dumb for not accepting the plea deal. Also medical practitioners should really be careful of their forensic findings and opinions. This man was going to be dragged by the police for something he didn’t do smh

I’m sure Vinnie gets paid well by Court TV. He wouldn’t have agreed to create or be a part of the series if he wasn’t. Vinnie is definitely one of the most popular faces of Court TV. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Yeah, I talk to myself AND my TV AND my phone, don't judge lol!🤣
Bottom line, he definitely is good at what he does and brings great insight to whatever the subject/case matter is!

3 people took part in murder, one was executed and the other two will likely be out on parole in another 5 years. I can’t say I believe justice was done here. The guy who got the death penalty should’ve taken the deal but he didn’t, his fault. Regardless, the other two should’ve received life without parole.
They having the luxury to dream of freedom one day when all the other guy look forward to was death wis sad but most of all it’s a miscarriage of justice for the victims and their families.
I think it is sad that his parents didn’t want him to take the deal. His attorney said that halfway through he knew he should’ve taken the deal. I would think his parents would blame themselves for his execution. If he had taken the deal he would have been given life with possibility of parole.

Leave it to police to wanna pin it on one of the victims despite his injuries being so brutal, there was no possible way he set that up. Ya an elderly man slit his own throat and beat himself with a crowbar (and could have easily also succumb to the injuries like his wife did) for show. Smh. Most who set this type of thing up are not injured at all miraculously, or have very superficial wounds. This is why people have less and less faith in police and even feds. They always manage to get it wrong or completely fubar the evidence collection or investigation so when the proper person(s) are caught, the state has a weak case so the perpetrators get off or very minimal time behind bars.

You should never let the public start doing your investigation work or influence a case. Rumors were Jack had something to do with it so cops got tunnel vision, overlooking the actual perpetrators. They would have gotten true Life, if the sentence had been Life without Parole. Getting just Life, in many states, means that after serving a certain amount of years ( usually 25 to 35 or more), you are then eligible for parole, which you may receive or not.
It always seems to be about the money at the end of it.. the death sentence should of been applied to all defendants especially how premeditated it was.

I wonder if they were having previous instances with the daughter that made them fear what she may do? I say this because if you notice in the photos of their bedroom door, there was a padlock keeping it locked from the inside. So, when the parents went to sleep, they for some reason felt the need to lock themselves in their bedroom while they were sleeping. 🤔
I know it's not that unusual for some people to have one of those doorknob locks on their bedroom door, but to feel like you need to lock yourself in your bedroom with a padlock is on a different level of scared (of something, or someone).
I'm a relatively new listener of Court TV, and of Vinnie Politan. Vinnie is simply amazing! He is such a compelling speaker, and his level of intelligence is awesome. I wonder if he has ever been in politics, or has ever thought of it? We desperately need intelligent, honest, and brave men and women in politics. Vinnie possesses all of these qualities. I can easily picture him as "President Politan", seriously. In the meantime, however, I will continue to listen spellbound to his podcasts. Thank you, Vinnie Politan.

Really love this series Vinnie. Had never heard of this case and thoroughly enjoyed the telling of it's tragic story (gosh, what does that say about me?). Also, you don't get many of those "final words" spoken before the death penalty is carried out.

My husband and I rescued a mixed breed that had been terribly abused. My husband said if she couldn't look him in the eye we couldn't take her. She did and we turned her around. Each dog is different but the breeding is out of control, it's all about ego and money.

The prosecutor was right to chiefly target Kristi, and it is obvious he couldn't hide the overwhelming disappointment+raw anger he felt towards Dillingham and his blatant denial of any cooperation in that regard. So much so he couldn't even hide his surging vindictiveness towards Dillingham as he single-mindedly pursued for nothing less than the Death sentence. His interview and his overall demeanour, after Dillingham's judgement was pronounced, betrays his emotions of guilt he was beginning to struggle with. Therefore it was good to see him acknowledge it in this documentary and having obviously worked towards his own healing. May God help him.
Exactly. If the death penalty was the result you were going for, why be moved to tears when thinking about the verdict all these years later - and they are not tears of joy!
Moral of the story. Don't kill people. I do wonder if the father will have a relationship with her after she gets out? Can he forgive this horrible crime, knowing his daughter planned the whole thing. Also it was ignorance of the parents to not follow the attorneys instructions. I think if I had been the defense, I would of leaned on, how his parents persuaded him "how to plea." but he takes full responsibility for his actions, and he was trying to please his parents.

I believe the three of them should get life in prison without parole,it's not fair one was executed and the other two will be out in some years. Why people kill so often for money...? That's all they care about in this life...? Very sad.
Don't really care for plea deals. The killer deserves punishment. If the prosecutors were after Christie they should have found a way to get her w/o losing the other two.

I have nothing but contempt for the prosecutor Robert Mayfield, for pursuing the death penalty against a defendant, in order to pressure a defendant to testify. There are other ways to do that.
If the victims had had a pistol beside their bed, they could have blasted the murderers into oblivion when they broke in the door. and what an evil, greedy girl the mastermind was. Her mother sowed the seeds of hate and this is what her daughter did.

You see how the parents controlled that young guy? Be careful when you are cold as his parents were. You are not supposed to force it, but make sure you say your opinion. There are too many controlling adults I see. Help yourselves with your issues just like I do, and everyone else should be doing also.
