- In today’s video, I’m addressing the third theme from your comments on the Swedish Death Cleaning video ( • Swedish Death Cleaning... ) : “It takes a lot of time!” ⏳
I’m here to help you flip that narrative and share five practical tips to get you started and keep you going.
**Bonus Resources**: For those who mentioned challenges like ADHD impacting their decluttering efforts, I’m sharing two amazing channels from my friend Lonna. She provides practical cleaning tips on her Simply Lane channel and shares strategies for coping with ADHD on her Lonna RaeDHD channel. These insights can help anyone improve their organization and productivity!

thanks for this.
I just took everything out of my cedar chest, which holds mostly my sweaters. But in the bottom I came across some antiques that belonged to my grandmas, which, realistically, no one will ever want because they are ugly or wrecked. Out they went! I also found a precious letter that I had no idea was there. Pros and cons of cleaning!
Thank you for sharing your story. You definitely found a PRO! It's those nice surprises that make doing the dirty work more rewarding. 😊
So true, just going through things once in awhile is also helpful. I have Chronic Illness so it’s hard to do anything for long periods of time.
So when I have a little bit of energy, I have taken that time to go through boxes, and organise, throw things, donate things or keep things. It’s not even weekly, sometimes it’s monthly.
Thanks for sharing Viki.
@@Kathleensplace71 Thank you for watching and for adding your tip! 💓
@ my pleasure 💕
I thought of you today and laughed! In one of your videos, you talk about cleaning out your in-laws house and finding receipts from 1974 (or something hilariously similar!). I can't compete with that! but today, while cleaning out some more of Dads stuff, I found his x-rays from 1985! Yep. I thought - oh I have to tell Vicki! 🤣
This is great! Because you beat me. The battery receipts I found were dated back to 1993. 😂😂😂
I don't count the tax returns back to the 1950's. 😂
@@AgingOnYourTerms 🤣🤣 battery receipts!
Great video Vicki. One tip I want to share, and I can't remember where I got it was, "If you are having trouble getting rid of something, take a picture for the memory, then donate it." Now that I'm retired, I had a bunch of work-related stuff, and I needed to let it go. Nobody needs polo shirts and coffee mugs from old employers in the 80s and 90s, most of whom are out-of-business.
@HopeToProsper Thanks, Brett! That is a great tip!
I donated so much corporate merch. Only for my husband's company to send him 3 more shirts last week. 🙄
I loved your comment about “things might not be as sentimental as you thought”!
@Pickletrees Sometimes, you need someone else to help you determine if it really is sentimental. 😉
@ truth!
Great video!! I love Decluttering and being a minimalist! 😊
Thank you for watching 💕
Having less stuff brings joy. I enjoy shopping but thankfully am very frugal. Heck, I paid $2.75 for a shirt this week from Goodwill. Thanks for sharing all these great tips.
Thrift stores have awesome bargains! Thanks for watching 💕.
As I am declutter to move home and country, I really like this series around Swedish Death Cleaning. It is a topic I have always been interested. These Tips are excellent, I wrote them down and planning to delcutter a little each day. Thank you
Thank you for watching 💕. We also started with a move. And moving to another country is an incentive to lower the moving costs 😉.
Love the tips. So true. We are just doing life here. Doing the best we can.
@@PinkandPossible Yep. One day at a time. Thank you for watching 💕
I love your T-short 😀
I love making fun of myself 😂😂😂
I love Lonna too and I don’t have ADHD either 🤩
Yes! Lonna is great! ❤️
I love that idea that if something came in something had to go out. I love these tips. You make decluttering super easy
Thank you for watching 💕. We fell off the wagon, but got back on after decluttering the in-laws' house. We cannot let our house get like that. 🤞🏾
One bit at a time - great tips🎉
@@KarenWilsonOnline Yes. Baby steps! Thanks for watching 💕.
It does take a lot of time. Been at it for a few years but I am getting there!!
Thank you for commenting, Bonita. It is a lot of work, so I am adopting it as a lifestyle so it feels less daunting 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾.
Great starting point for me. Thanks such a great topic
Thanks for watching 💕.
I feel like I’ve unknowingly been doing Swedish death cleaning for years now. I didn’t know there was a name for it until recently. We also downsized from a very large home into a 1300sf home. I could go even smaller!
I love your tips! They’re very helpful when learning how to declutter.
Aww ❤ thank you for this. I had forgotten you said you were going to do that. I was sitting here like…what are the bonuses? Let me see em and then they’re me…😂 welcome to my world. Have a great day my beautiful friend. ❤
@LonnaRaeDHD Yes! I think you are the poster child for this term that I also recently learned existed. The book was published in 2017.
I really appreciate these videos. Since you asked, I'd love to see a video with suggestions for couples comprised of one organized, neat person, and one total slob. LOL. But seriously, I know many couples have this messy/neat dichotomy, and it's tough to move forward with it.
Thank you for the lovely comment. I can definitely create a response to your question because I've lived it. 😂😂😂
Just give me a couple of weeks to get caught up on the caregiver series that got derailed when I caught the crud.
This is me as well!
Comfortable, safe, and decluttered, YES!! I love that💕 Life started life-ing, that is what happens to me too, life starts life-ing!! Great tips, thank you! I noticed in your newest video on the parents lying that you had Fall Decorations behind you, do you have containers you store decorations in? I would be curious to know how you keep a handle on things you use only 'once in a while' or seasonally.
Yes, I have storage bins for my seasonal decorations that I keep in the garage.
I've paired down a lot. For this time of year, I have a few Fall decorations (pumpkins, pine cones, and leaf garland), door mat, and exterior welcome mat. Plus one or two items specific to Halloween and Thanksgiving for inside.
And they all fit in one bin.
I'll create a video about storage when we switch out for Christmas. But I'll create a community post to show how I repurpose Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving.
@@AgingOnYourTerms I would love that, thanks Vicki!
Wow 😮 very interesting 👍 how long have you been making videos like this ???
@@AdekunleOlamide-x7u Thanks for watching
@ yes 👍 how long have you been making video like this ????
@AdekunleOlamide-x7u just started.
@@AgingOnYourTerms okay good to hear that from you my friend, so if I may ask this from you, how have you been sharing or promoting your video so far ??

Tip: if you are reminiscing about an item and it brings up bad memories…don’t dwell on them..chuck it. You don’t need those memories.
@SpeakTruthBeKind Thank you for that addition. Negativity and bad memories have no place in our lives.
