Hahaha, that was my sister in law's golf cart. I tried to help get it running but quickly reached by skillset end point and gave up. I'm glad it was a bit more than something super simple that I overlooked. Small world. For the record I didn't install anything, some other golf cart "mechanic" clearly botched it all up.
Nothing like putting a little effort in , than hear the click and off it goes. The last three “ my cart wouldn’t run “ challenges I had were all controllers. The older club car DS carts are the most challenging for me but keeps me young at heart. You’re great help , thanks.
My father inlaw turned me onto you. Been a Ford mechanic for 14 years and working on my 98 club car series has been a challenge. Found the main issue being the v-glide not mounted properly and cah cah batteries. You've been a big help. Great info and easy to follow.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge your videos are very helpful, I was able to fix my golf cart for under $20 instead of bringing it to a shop where it would cost hundreds. Next season I'm going lithium and you can bet I will watch your video stepping me through the process even though I probable watched it a couple of times already.
I personally like how OP says the golf cart is a hunk of crap. He has no clue what a hunk of crap is. The golf cart in this video is a showroom ferarri compared to the only deals I come across which are so rusted through and through that I'm surprised the frames haven't collapsed onto itself. By the way OP, how much did you pay for it and how much do you want for it? I'd love to buy this hunk of crap off of you!
I have a video idea. You should do a tour of your shop and the tools you use the most to work on carts. That would be helpful for people like me that want to start building more.
Half a fixing anything is understanding how its supposed to work in the 1st place. From there its a simple job a testing each componet till you find the one that isent working as it should. Good video! edited to say NO GREAT VIDEO--saving this one. You going through and explaining what is supposed to be happening is golden! Thats a sharp looking little cart BTW. I'm a sucker for the older DSs anyways. Who dont want a frame that wont rust?
I just picked up my first flip cart. 2000 club car DS series cart non running. Had it running in 20 minutes because he replaced a battery and some how had 2 negative’s going back to the motor. I paid too much for it but I’ll get my money back. I found this older video of yours to see how you approach things , you’re always my baseline so thanks again, keep them coming.
I love to watch videos that say will it run! I think it’s also fun to figure out the problem and find out it’s something simple but like you said that’s not always the case. I think videos like this, is a big motivator for people to try it themselves.
Awesome explanation… I manage a GOlf Cart company and sometimes I don’t always have the time to seat with some of my guys and explain what they need to do in order to verify what’s happening and this is a great way to do it
This was a awesome video and I could tell you were enjoying finding out what was wrong with the cart. I especially enjoyed how well you explained each step until you found the problem. I have watched several of your videos the last couple days. There is no harm in asking someone if they want to sell or give something away. That’s how to get some great deals.
Great video. It is funny how when you start tinkering with something you start to learn. I was messing with my club car ds 2007 yesterday messing with the drum brakes on the back. May just need all new assemblies but feel like it's something maybe I can do. Bought an air hammer tonight!
Goodmorning I'm the same way i love finding cheap stuff then working on them and when you get them in working condition it's just so inspiring especially carts now that i learned a lot from you RYAN GOD BLESS
Awesome job Ryan. I wish I can find these deals that you do. We just sold our 96 txt yesterday for 3 g after we got it earlier this year for 1900 and now the wife has a 06 txt gas that we love
Awesome video, 1 of your best. Would love to see more diagnoses videos. Really hope you can find some ezgo’s. Specifically a pds, since that what I have. Thanks again!
Simple question: I live in Minnesota and only have covered, unheated storage. Do I need to: 1: Remove all batteries Or can I 2: Make sure they're fully charged and just disconnect the positive? Great videos including this one. I'm new to electric golf carts had a gas one before.
I'm totally new to even owning golf cart and also totally new to your content and love it. I'm learning. As I said I'm totally new yo owning a cart, just bought a 2004 ez go txt 36volt lifted cart. It runs and everything works . But I like learning about trouble shooting things so when it comes time I at least have an idea where to start and what to look for. Do you only work on electric carts or do you also work on gas carts?
Good troubleshooting video! I have a 05 Club Car DS IQ I need to fix and would love to see a troubleshooting video on that. I have a new Big Battery falcon elite battery in it. I have the wiring diagram but I don't know where to start troubleshooting it? Any help would be very appreciated!
I think alltrax has a bluetooth module that will work with apple phones but the navitas controllers work with either phones. Just the alltrax isnt apple friendly with their tool kit.
i bought this exact cart at the beginning of summer. it had the same ugly dash. it was a beach cart. there was rust in all the spade connectors. id fix one thing and it would run for a few days. another thing would bust. it was real frustrating because it was my first cart. its still noisy as all get out which i’ve got to figure out (diff, spines, bearings on the backend)
@@Fentertainment I ordered the navitas motor and controller kit. Just waiting for it to arrive. The V glide resistors look pretty rough. Wanted to upgrade the motor and controller anyways while I’ll was in there.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Looking foward to watching all your videos. Quick question. I have 1998 club car ds 36 volt. The foward reverse switch has melted for the 2nd time in a year. Any thoughts. Thanks 😊
Switch or Lever? The FNR Lever Is the weakest link in the system. If your cart is lifted with bigger tires then that will help put strain on the system. lower voltage system uses more amperage to operate and if you go offroad any or have passengers on the cart then its just putting more stress on the fnr switch.
When buying a used golf cart. You never know when somebody will make a oops put it back together wrong you do have to check everything. Thanks for your thorough video.
I have an issue with my brakes on a 2000 club car ds. I replaced my brake cables and now the brakes lock up “hard” as soon as you touch the pedal. I mean hard enough to throw you into the windshield. After going thru this process (brakes on/lockup, brakes on/lockup) the pedal will cease to lock up the brakes. Any ideas? And yes it has a lift kit.
Maybe he did and I missed it, but he should make clear parts that only apply to Club Car and parts he is checking that are common to most or all carts. For those of us who are new to golf car repair and ownership.🙂
This is by far the best electrical cart video on TH-cam. If it showed both ends of the multimeter connections it would be unbeatable.

How much did she sell it for?
@@semajd5995 Cheap, not sure how cheap but very cheap
@@tylerrsmith443 oh okay

Just a quick question, when you change the club car charger do you have to bypass the OCB ? I thought you need to bypass it so I always do.
Great description of your diagnostic processes. Your description of how the micro switches are involved cleared up many of my misconceptions.

This video couldn’t have come at a better time. Just picked up a 98 DS a few weeks back. This video was so helpful!!! Thank you!

I tend to lean towards electrics only, I appreciate you checking out the content.
😆, once you hit the gas pedal the first time, I knew exactly what was gonna be the first problem. ❤️ these old school carts.
I agree man, I do to.

Might be the axle bearings. They usually tend to really scream when turning. I've got a video on that as well.
Great video my Brother
Same issue with my 2000 club car ds but solenoid clicks but no movement. Already tried a new f&r switch too. Batteries read 51 volts
Would need to test the v glide resistance to make sure its putting out. If it is then you would need to test the controller or motor.

You're Right! Thats what makes it fun some times.
Have you done a video on cleaning the batteries?
I haven't, but I wet the top of the batteries, Sprinkled on some baking soda and it will start to fizzle and work. Then spray it off with water.
If you wasn't keeping it, what did you remove the stuff that was on it off for
Have a 2016 club car president 48 v missing the key switch pigtale where can I find what wires energize the motor or controller or peddle??

I get small engines at the dump not running clean the carb and sell them

I dont care for gas carts. I try to avoid them.
I think this was good stuff.
That was my grandmas golf cart her grandson botched it up and it sold for cheap
