    Thank you for the comparison of a second hand Rainbow. I would be very interested in hearing you discuss experience with the SRX? A lot of important and valid information here. I definitely suggest watching this in full.

    Don’t turn on the power heads on bare floors. Just going to scuff the floors finish and ultimately grind down them bristles on the rollers. Then the won’t be effective on carpet which is what they are meant for.

    thank u for this !video !I have the e2 two speed silver/platinum.I have had it for over 15 years, still works perfectly till this day. other than changing the heppa filter and replacing minor parts like wheels, latch, I can honestly say that it was worth every penny. I came across your video because the sales rep that sold me mine is trying to convince me to trade my e2 and being pretty aggressive with the sale price.being aware of the issues with the SRX,I have declined to make the trade. I called the rep yesterday to do a routine cleaning of the inside of my e2 and maybe replace the motor gasket seal that looks to be a bit worn and the sales rep offered me an even more aggressive sale price to trade..THANK YOU !!

    I hate to say it but working water lift gauges are a gimmick introduced to sell central vacuum cleaners. If you are going to be measuring how a vacuum cleaner works, the anemometer is a better way in combination with a suction gauge. In order to move dust you need to move air. Rexair even demonstrates this as part of its mini-vac demonstration. Suction is a form of pressure, albeit a negative pressure. Unless you are trying to evacuate a vessel, suction doesn't apply. Also, you don't need a "working" suction with the Rainbow as Rexair was smart enough, unlike other vacuum companies, to make all power nozzles electric, not pneumatic turbine. You know, that power of two thing.
    Now, from what people have said, the SRX has some advantages and disadvantages over the E Series. The advantages are for convenience and ease of use, while the disadvantages are lacking in cleaning power, especially with the power nozzle and the capacity limitation. Rexair has since re-released the PN-12 for the SRX, which is good and revised some key components on the machine. Of the Rainbow series, I like the D4 SE and E2 Black the best.the vacuum cleaner's operation. I grew up with a D4 and own one of those myself and an E2 Black I found at a thrift store.
    I have other machines as well, two Kirby units, one being the Heritage II Legend and the other a Generation 3 I rebuilt as well as a central vacuum cleaner that is used like a glorified garage vac (it hangs in the basement but I plug the hose almost directly into it) as plumbing isn't throughout the house. I also have a shop vac that, may not have much in the way of suction, but with the amount of airflow makes turbine powered nozzles run faster than even most residential central vacuum cleaners in standard configuration.
    Whatever you put in your Rainbow is going down the toilet is true, but some people use a strainer to get the stuff that shouldn't be flushed. Hairballs and the like are strained out leaving the regular dirty water behind. Also flushing water from a Rainbow is typically going through 4" piping, while looking at a system like DrainVac and Aqua-Air go down regular 2" plumbing. Both DrainVac and Aqua Air have a catch system in place to keep plumbing from clogging from fibrous and other debris.
    What is it with vacuum testing channels that put down ridiculous amounts of dirt and debris when it's not typical in most households? This is the reason I look at channels like VacLab and find the measured tests he does are actually more scientific. He doesn't use gimmicky methods to test airflow and suction, he uses actual suction gauges and anemometers and does tests that typically simulate average cleaning of households. I mean, he does whole house carpet cleaning tests and, even with Rainbows he finds a way to examine the contents of the debris captured and measures their mass.

    • @techseth
      @techseth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your feedback. I do acknowledge my tests aren’t “true facts” but rather an opinion, but my channel isn’t about giving true absolute factual information. It’s about having a personal opinion and in this video I compared my SRX against my E2, directly comparing them with what I had on hand. I understand other channels exist, and I’m only trying to demonstrate what is available out there that doesn’t hurt the bank. I got suckered into a $8,100 situation thanks to a contract that did not mention interest rates or proper payment plans. Once I signed, I then found out the stupid interest and the loaner refused to sign off. Now, I make videos to try and raise awareness before someone does this mistake and chooses payment plans. I plan on making a video just on the SRX and everything people should beware of.

      I overall think Rainbow systems are nice machines and if people want one they should get it used. And should try for any of the E2 two speed units as they are a good balance of longevity, parts availability and cleaning performance. Of course they aren’t for everyone but are also some of the cheapest in consumables with HEPA Filters lasting years and no bags compared to a Miele with their HEPA filters only lasting six months due to using carbon emitting motors and the filters costing virtually the same as Rexair’s for 1/4 the surface area. Add to that bags and it seems like it could be insane not to own a Rainbow in overall lifetime, especially since Rainbow units have a projected 3 to 5 times lifespan of a Miele.

    I had an SRX demo today in my home. Glad I didn't buy it, your video helped. I got a free air purifier though. I have an old Tristar vacuum I bought at a garage sale for $25. 20 years ago. I don't need to spend $4000 on a vacuum. I found a few Rainbows on Marketplace. I'll lwait until an E2 comes up for sale.

      If you’re looking for a genuinely impressive vacuum you absolutely cannot go wrong with, I’d avoid Rainbow all together. Go with a Miele C3 Complete with the SEB236 nozzle separate (then you have 2 nozzles) as it’s about 40% more powerful than the E2 and a lot quieter. Rainbow will forever be closest to my heart as the most unique, but far from the best vacuum.

    I have a gold 2 speed I bought brand new in summer 2006. I called the Dist and just went and picked it up.. I knew I wanted one..I'm the only one that's ever used it. I still have it. in 2018 the board went out..took it and got it fixed. Guy called me when taking mine apart to repair and and he said... I have never in my life seen a rainbow this clean. He said this thing looks new. I asked him if he could take it apart and clean the fans. He said they don't need it. I know exactly how to use a rainbow and clean it up afterwards. One major thing is to keep that separator clean...keep the seals wiped off.. and put MORE water than is recommended (not much) but like 1/2 inch. He said it was so clean that he gave me a discount on the part. He said I should never have trouble again because rainbow made the control board much better than when my unit was made. I hate the new SRX...My favorite model is the black model just before the SRX..I never upgraded because I love mine so much. I change the HEPA about every 5 years.

      I know right?! And I nearly worked with these folks! The SRX is incredibly unreliable. I’m actually shooting part 2 of this series currently, and I’ll be going over EVERYTHING, including the unfortunate truth behind the SRX. I’m on my second machine, and I see plenty of SRXs on the second hand market, either unpaid and broken down or broken down and looking for some compensation.

      @@techseth I cringed when you did that powder test...cuz I know that's a no-no in a rainbow and I try to never purposely suck something like that up... but did you notice the SRX filter sounded like it got clogged when you did that... yet the other rainbow didn't? Honestly, look at the turbulence in the water when both are on high... They screwed the SRX up royally... and this is coming from someone who's been a rainbow fan for YEARS...I know they work well but there's such a learning curve to use them and some people just never use them right...

    Aham cites a Harvard study that determined an air purifier must change all the air in a room at least 4 times per hour. Aham based their room size recommendations on 4.8 air changes per hour on high speed, which equates to one whole air change every 12.5 minutes) on high, or at least 4 AC/H on a slightly lower speed. Furthermore, they should be used 24/7. Aham scores the SRX at being sufficient for a 115 sq foot room, while it is running on high speed. Keep in mind, the water has to be topped off every 20-30 minutes and it must be used on the higher speed(s) to prevent dust from going up into the exhaust channel, fans, and filter.
    So basically, although they can be used as air purifiers, they aren’t ideal, especially for the price. BlueAir is the best brand I have found for purifiers. Taking into consideration the cost of the unit, the cost of filters, and that they filter way more air for the money that comparably priced competitor units. They use AHAM’s 4.8x ACH metrics and are Aham-certified like the Rainbow.

    Suction pressure is not that important.. airflow is what does clean... But the SRX has none of those :D
    And no, the old accessories are much better than the srx ones, the power nozzle is what does all the job done (on carpets obviously). The old E2 Silver is the best of them all.

    • @techseth
      @techseth  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for commenting! There are some really good things I like that came from the SRX:
      For starters, it’s about time Rainbow used a ribbed v belt on their powerheads rather than a stretch belt. I find belts maintain good tension longer in the new PN3 head, but then Rainbow went back to the previous head with the side sweepers (which aren’t all that good).
      Secondly, I GENUINELY appreciate Rexair making the handheld Rainbowmate’s neck pivot. It doesn’t fix how it’s biased to one side, but it does make it a little more manageable in my experience.
      I genuinely wanted to like the SRX, in fact I tried overlooking the cons. But in the end, the reliability and lack of power is outrageous. Imagine paying $4,000 just to watch a $1,000 Sebo D4 absolutely crush it, and a $40 Bissell from Walmart somehow compete. Seriously, I’m disappointed.
      To add insult to injury:
      My Rainbow E2 had a large pressure leak in the hose, and it STILL won against the SRX.

    • @onlin98
      @onlin98 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@techseth exactly, I know that.. My parents also had the good old E2 Silver with all the accessories and they were talked into buying the expensive SRX.. Now it's funny to see that if they want a complete clean up, they call me to bring my E2.. The old PN2e head with much more powerful suction of the E2 is incredibly better on all the surfaces, especially on loop pile carpets (where PN3 head is absolutely useless :D )

    • @techseth
      @techseth  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@onlin98 well, it’s decent (under the right circumstances). When I was testing the head itself on an airflow monster of a performer (MD SilentMaster) I found the PN3 good if you have LOTS of airflow. It’s got decent agitation, but it’s never gonna compete against something like a WesselWerk EBK360 or Sebo ET1 where you have height adjustment and a cogged belt that in theory never needs to be changed.
      I predict the SRX is the very last Rainbow that’ll ever come out. The amount of trouble, lawsuits pending, news coverage, and dissatisfied customer will absolutely kill them. This product is a disaster, and I’m not the only one with these opinions.
