Wow, I have my mother's rainbow that she bought in the 70's and it still works wonderfully. No hepa filters in those days. The belt on the power head broke, but really easy to replace. Awesome vacuum cleaner and amazing it is over fifty years old.
Yes! Maintenance! It is incredible to me that people forget that they need to clean their cleaning appliances too. Be it your vacuum cleaner, your dishwasher, or your washing machine. Your clothes dryer especially needs to be cleaned, and can pose a serious fire hazard otherwise. I have seen people throw perfectly good vacuum out due to lack of suction, and they’ve never cleaned the brush roller or canister.
Hey man great video! I sold Rainbows back in the 90’s, and the filter has definitely changed. The model then had a little round filter that you would put in the exhaust when vacuuming ash, as I was told that that ashes were the only thing that water couldn’t hold. I have the SRX now and I love it

You are talking about fine dust, but you aren't totally defining it as non-water soluble substances are drywall dust, flour and talc but you really shouldn't be picking up this kind of dust with any household vacuum cleaner, even central vacuums. That's what utility and wet/dry vacuum cleaners are for. Otherwise, the Rainbow will get a near-HEPA efficiency with the water alone, something like 98% which, for the D4 back in the 1980s was excellent compared to most of the dust blowers which you are selling the modern versions. In my opinion, the SRX is a step backward with reducing the motor down to a single stage, flow-through style and smaller capacity and also stair cleaning is reduced unless you buy a 14 foot hose. Now, there are several advantages with using a Rainbow versus a conventional machine, including but not limited to consumables. Yes, you have to buy a HEPA for the machine, but the average home can use that filter for five or more years. Miele, Riccar, that MD central vacuum all have a huge environmental impact and disadvantage in price as you may be spending a Rainbow's worth of money just on the filters and bags alone and you're also tossing a lot of plastic into dumps with these machines. The Rainbow, you sift the water and throw away the dirt or...you could compost it. The second advantage has been discussed here as well, the Rainbow is eco-friendly. The motors are designed to last over 50 years compared to the average portable machine (and some central vacuums) that last maybe 30 years. The third advantage, which was lightly discussed in my first paragraph is the machine, especially now, the Rainbow has very low emissions. It can totally hold up to and exceed current conventional vacuum cleaners, especially the central vacuum, which has some of the worst emissions a machine can have. Yes, the dirt is captured outside of the living space, and yes the machine is vented outdoors but there's a good reason for this and it's the fact that the filtration in these machines is poor. Added to that, each time you run the machine, the air is displaced in the house, usually coming in cracks or open windows, bringing in dirt, dust and other hazardous contaminants from outside and from inside the walls. If you put an eye drop or two of rinse aid in the basin, the non-water soluble dust can now be contained in the water.
You should get an anemometer instead of using the baird meter since those are biased more toward Kirby machines than anything. That's what Bill of Vaclab uses. You get an air reading by volume or speed with those. That being said, at least you don't only use one or the other or a what another youtuber uses that he says is the penultimate way of rating vacuum cleaning power: working water lift gauge. (negative pressure on an orifice plate) I have no issue with how he talks about vacuum cleaners, but when you see him pull this gimmicky device out (which skews more toward the bias of central vacuum cleaners) it seems laughable.
I have a Miele and I am tired of buying their high-priced bags and filters every time I turn around. I grew up with a Rainbow cleaner in our house. We were given strict lessons as children on how to operate it by our mother because back then, this was an investment for the home. That Rainbow lasted 30 years. My mother put the pieces back in the original box after she cleaned it up every time she used it. People don't take care of things these days because stuff comes too easily. Compared to that cleaner I grew up with, these machines look cheap.
This review is better than the first negative review. The older model is more expensive than the newer model. Also, the air seeps out of the hose when you connect on the older model. They made the newer model scaled down by lessor suction and more detachable items. Thank for not making a bias review.
HI, Thank you for the video. My new home has a lot of dust in the air and for that reason, I am looking for a water system filtration. Would you recommend a new rainbow over the old or VS for using it as a Room Air cleaner? Did cleaning the air in the room function become any better in its new model?
I would recommend a stand alone air unit that can run 24/7 bissell has one I personally use the filter queen defender... I know electrolux has a couple of models as well.
I just bought a SRX and they have redesigned the power head since this video because on mine the brush roll is much more narrow and thus it picks up way better than the one being shown here actually looks line the black version shown here so I guess they went back to the original design on the power head so looks like rainbow listened to your feed back on this. I’m glad you talked about tipping them over so now that I can be aware of that with mine! Good video! I can tell you know your stuff!
You did excellent job on previous video. I knew SRX sucks. I heard because it’s one stage fan compared to e2 black. All 2 speed models are two stage fans.
Thank you so much for this presentation. I did have someone come to my home and provided me a demo of the Rainbow SRX. I was really considering purchasing it, even with the $4500. price tag. But after seeing the end of your presentation on the SEBO, I decided to check it out at one of the local dealers. I purchased it about 3 days ago, and when I tell you it's the best vacuum cleaners I've ever own, I mean it. Never paid this much for a vacuum, but I am completely satisfied with it. Thank you again for the information you provide to your views. It was very helpful to me in making my final decision.

Good detailed reviews 👍 When cleaning pet hair you definitely need to check bowl. It can easily fill up with hair. I have clients that have multiple pets, even cleaning every 2 weeks I have to empty it out every 2 rooms. It is not recommended to dump hair done toilet. I use plastic pasta strainer outside and then bag hair.....it doesn't degrade and will leave mess. If you can find rainbow vacuums used there definitely worth it, or if your budget is bigger then go for new SRX it's very nice 👍
After using the SRX for almost 2 weeks in my cleaning business, I can definitely tell a big difference from the E2 black model 12 I had been using. I was surprised at the amount of dirt it picked up from a vacation rental I clean about once a week..it does a much better job of getting carpets clean. It does require the water bowl to be emptied more. And it does a better job of getting pet hair up. It's more quiet and rolls better. I never expected to be able to get one new there quite expensive. For $1k used... still too much for me but would be worth it (try eBay you might get lucky) As a upgrade from E2 it's very nice 👍
The pre-HEPA Rainbows did a great job of catching common dirt and dust in the house, but would not catch, obviously any particulate matter that did not get wet easily, and it never claimed to. As a Rainbow agent, I told this to people for years. We were trained to educate owners not to use stuff like carpet fresh, and not to pick up material such as sawdust, sheetrock dust, and other materials naturally resistant to water. Rexair even sold a formula at one time called Aqua-Wet, which could be added to the water in the basin to catch such materials. The HEPA filter was not added to compensate for this. It was added in the late nineties to conform with new U.S. federal government regulations mandating a HEPA filter for any machine claiming to be an air cleaner, for purposes of maintaining its qualification as an air cleaner by IRS standards for tax credit purposes.
Adding to your post, let me say that of all the models I sold since 1987, you cannot beat the D4SE. Simple, plenty of cleaning power (airflow), basic maintenance like cleaning the separator once a month, service thru your nearest rainbow service center every 4 yrs and all that will result in decades of great results. Going against many Rainbow folks’ opinion, I fully support the addition of the hepa neutralizer. Now we’ve got triple filtration - Separator/water bath/Hepa. And, unless you vacuum up drywall dust and other non-wettable materials, you don’t have to touch the hepa. Your Rainbow Rep will automatically replace it when performing the service. Making sure you use the correct water amt, keeping the separator clean and storing the motor and basin apart will keep the Rainbow, no matter which model, in top condition.
👏👏 Great video! I also used to sell Rainbows and in my humble opinion, the E2 Black out cleans the SRX 10 times over! I have actually carved the paper cloth material out of the HEPA on the E2 Black and it has SO MUCH MORE airflow and suction… I fill my basin with about 2.8 quarts of water and I also empty the basin after each room… now, I know the water isn’t going to capture everything, but I’d rather have 100% cleaning ability at the head than worry about the .001% of “dust” coming out the back… The intake on the SRX is way too small which in turn restricts the airflow & suction that the machine is trying to produce which also makes the SRX run HOT. Sure, it may turn at a higher RPM, but when the intake is that small, it doesn’t matter…I’ve had my SRX since December of 2019 and I have used it to vacuum about 7-8 times because it takes me so much longer due to its lack of power… I mostly use it to clean the air 24/7 near our cat boxes… and even though I’ve mostly used it just to clean the air, I’ve already had to get a new computer for it as the other one would shut the machine off at speed 3 after only about 10 minutes of cleaning the air… THANK THE HEAVENS I HAD WARRANTY! So, with that being said, I use my SRX just to clean the air and I use the power head of the SRX (better design powerhead than the E2 black) hooked up to my E2 black which has 100% airflow and suction. I’ll be sure to make a video of all this on my channel. I hope you’ll watch it! 😊
Hi Colter, are you saying to remove the foam on the filter part in the back of the E2? I just got a new filter and have heard it is better to remove the foam/cloth part but I am weary of doing that. Please let me know your opinion. Thank you!
@@1richnasty I’ll upload a video on my TH-cam channel and show you what I’m talking about… get this, before, when I had my HEPA in place on my Rainbow, (which was always relatively clean), it never felt like I could get all the sand and grit (heavy material) out of the carpeting… but since I removed that filter (which was reducing airflow dramatically), I have to hunt for the dirt now… carpets have never looked better and never been happier 😊 Do you have an email that I can send you some pictures to if you want…?

Great video, you have explained the differences so well between these two models. I have a collection of Rainbows, none have a hepa filter, I do use them and change the water often, when it starts to get dirty, when I got my first one I would clean most of my home on one water fill and end up with mud and quickly realized that mud does not filter very well.
26 years ago I paid around 2 grand for my electro license and my mom thought I was crazy I need a new head for the wand it is a beast I got an upgraded version and the maintenance putting a filter in the side I’ve taken it in for servicing twice and once they showed me a simple fix the other was a $50 visit

My family doesn’t have bad allergies but I will Admit what impressed me with the rainbow was what it got out of my carpet after I used my old vacuum.
any vacuum if any substance can do the same thing....I personally love the Miele products, sebo is great and Filter queen but that has some disadvantages...its an old school with not alot of updates..
Just bought a E2 vacuum at a moving sale, a rare find for $45 not complete tho the only up grade I'd like to see is a battery option model that can use a 18 volt power tool battery
I am so disappointed in the new SRX. You are spot on how it has poor suction. I was using the attachment for bare floors and it still didn’t pick up some dirt. I had to keep going over it. I can’t tell you how exasperated I was. I will not own another one. I couldn’t suck enough water out of the area rug I cleaned and it started to smell. They won’t take them back either. They are way over priced, but I had to have one. Buyers regret for sure. Now I am on the hunt for a good quality one that has great suction and can get under my bed and work on all types of flooring. Any ideas?

Hey guys, thank you for this video. I briefly sold Rainbows in the 90’s in college. Literally, only for the demos to buy mine and then bailed. I have a house consisting of hardwood floors from 1959, some tile and linoleum in the kitchen and washroom. I also have a dog too. What vacuum do you guys recommend? I just bought a Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro for wet vacuuming/mopping and a Bissell Spot Clean Pet Pro for my furniture and vehicle. I saw several TH-cam videos showing results and recommending both. However, if I simply need to vacuum the floors for a quick clean up or as a pre clean up before the wet vacuum/mop, what would you guys recommend? I also live in Northeast Colorado, where it has lots of wind and dust due to be surrounded by a heavy agricultural area. I care more about performance and quality over anything else even if it means that I’m paying more money for a vacuum. Thank you very much for your help and advice! I’m a single man once again and my ex was never a very good house cleaner as opposed to the family I grew up in where everyone kept a very clean house. So now I’m going to be my own maid once again but I’ve haven’t really researched stuff like this in more than 2 decades.
Sorry for late response.... I love the Miele and sebo straight suction .... miele has the triflex which was just upgraded... but you pay a premium... I personally love canister for multifunction application and the triflex fits that bill with a cordless multifunction machine......I would reach out to cory at the shop he has more input on that than me..but thanks so much for watching..
I like the Dyson not the new one with the one below it. It works really good. I just got the rainbow. I actually I do like it but it’s cumbersome. They caught a lot of stuff and I do have the one you’re talking about the Bissell. I love that one

@@gagainer I did a test with my e2 blue i put sand on the floor and i used the power nozzle with the brushroll off and it didn’t leave any sand behind so i’m glad i don’t have to worry about it leaving sand like the srx
I do also have tile and hardware floors only. I do own a Sirena vaccum but both side locks broke, I replaced but now here those locks attach to the machine also broke so I don't not know if I should fix or get something else. What do you recommend? I have two level house.

Which vacuum filters out the finest particles? I had a rainbow for 15 years. Loved it. Let an acquaintance borrow it and they broke it. I've been using a dyson for 5 years. Ready to either get back on the rainbow bandwagon and buy the SRX new or spend $600 buying the E2Black or try something else. Thanks for these videos and your help. I like that you are honest with the reviews. I for one do not want someone to tell me what I want to hear but the truth.

I just upgraded to the srx 2 days ago and am most likely going to return it and get my E2 back. I’m really not impressed with the new model. Just finished cleaning with it and there are definitely many things I prefer about the E2.

Pros for SRX - More than 2 settings - Blue light instead of harsh white light - More attachments - Easy to remove water canister Cons for SRX - Doesn’t maneuver as well - Will not roll over own cord on hard floor surfaces, only on carpet - Harder to access the filter underneath - Doesn’t suck dirt up as well/had to make several more passes on rugs in particular - Heavier overall/whole unit and carpet attachment - No trigger lock on handle
I had a home demo of the SRX, it appeared amazing but I am not one to just buy on the spot. I got online and found the E2 Black for significantly less, however, still wanted to make sure I was making a good choice. I really like the Rainbow for the home purifying feature. What is your opinion of that? Am I better off getting a separate vacuum and purifier?
I love my E2 and chose not to get the SRX because I just wasn’t impressed with it. I actually love the spinning side brushes. The e2 power head does great going from carpet to hard floors without having to turn the roller off. I love my E2 and own many top and vacuums. SRX is NOT worth the money… also… to the hype of water vacs. To me they are the superior bagless vacs simply for when it comes to emptying the dirt
Second time I used the Sirena, the latch caught the back of the water tank and dumped it all over the floor! Sorry, I searched for a comparison for the Sirena vs Rainbow. Sirena is not Rainbow?

Okay, so the sebo has more suction, so better than rainbow, I have DC4 SE and am thinking of upgrading to e series 12 silver. But now am thinking of the sebo, so my question is what is sebo suction when bag is 1/2 full? Or max full, please do suction test on sebo with full bag.

The E2's have been phased out therefore, if a unit is procured through a private sale the warranty is void. Rainbow will who the original owner would have been and when the names don't match, the repairs will be an out of pocket expense.
yes ... very aware of that..rainbow is very strict with their warranty policy much like champion windows are... I have never understood this .. either back a machine from date of manufacture or just not offer... so many machines are sold off for various reason regardless of manufacturer. if it is a solid product... it ought to have a solid warranty.. period.

First of all thank you so much for both of you guys is knowledge on the rainbows I had asrx model I returned it because I was having issues with it and now I went back to a Hoover bagged vacuum which Hoover is not the same as it was when I was a kid back in the 80s this was not either and neither is Dirt Devil Eureka used to be a good brand but I don't see a lot of their products anymore which vacuum do you recommend so far as bags I never liked it Bagless models so which and I love uprights better than I do canisters so which bagged upright is do you recommend thank you so much and will continue to watch and does the other young man does he have a TH-cam channel as well

Great vid. I have not seen your previous one where you got bashed though.. I will say that my E2 Black is fully sealed. You can suck water through it and it will not damage it enough to make the user get it serviced. In fact you could technically clean one of fine dust by sucking water through it. I dont recommend it but I have done it and I DO NOT promote it but it 'can' be done. Another part of this video is where you 2 are talking about sand... NO vacuum has excelled at sand pick up. Carpets are a magnet for sand and the only way I have seen to get most of it out was with a very aggressive beater bar and time. Sad baird meter... womp womp... thanks for that info... 98% of this video is exactly right. Good vid man!
I am thinking of buying a water-filtering vacuum to clean rock wool/possible asbestos contamination area. I feel this is a good option for maximum safety. All comments welcome if you do or do not think this is safest way as opposed to just HEPA. I will hire professionals once I eliminate the hoarding situation. Thanks!
Using any household use vacuum for fine hazardous dust is a bad idea! What you want is a OSHA certified dust extractor. hilti or festool make very nice units.
Too bad your video quality is almost every time off. too dark, too bright, bad sound, bad resolution, everytime something is off :(. Can't hear anything the guy in the red shirt says (on max volume!!).
I am so sad I bought this vaccum like 5 months ago. The SRX sucks. I have a Riccar and they fooled me onto buying one of these and I hate it. 3k for a vacuum that doesn't suck very well
The rainbow is a certified air cleaner…. You discredited your self the minute you only think of it as a vacuum. You don’t understand the concept. If you sold all types of vacuums, you clearly didn’t care about concept, just the money. Bags and filters coat and clog. You’re not an engineer. Your a service guy. These things have undergone incredible testing.
I use to sell them so yes they have an allergy tag on them.. but you can buy an air filter a whole heck of alot cheaper...HEPA filters on rainbows have to be replaced like the new bagged machines as well.. NO machine out there will not cost money to maintain... im not even a service guy... just a guy who uses a vac shop for alot of videos....
Have you tried the Kloarik? Let me see if I'm spelling it wrong I'm sure I am but just look this up and it should pop up it's a clear blue shot vac looking water filter system. I would love for you to do a review on it bec it is dirt cheap lol get it... Ha ha but, yeah I am going to buy it anyway bec it's on sale right now for 79. Normally is 140, which I still would pay if it works good. I just don't think it has a HEPA filter like you were talking about. This is why u basically can't use a shot vac as a water filter system. The water would be at the bottom while you have a wet filter on the motor. Then, the air passes threw only catching whatever the filter catches that doesn't fall into the water, right? I have a hart 6 gallon shit vacuum that I paid 30 brand new. This was a stealer deal. The body frame isn't the best but then again I shouldn't have had it above my stomach pushing the dirty air out the window 😂 not doing that again. I pushed the cord to much and it feel over. I'm sad about that and hoping it will get popped out but the good thing is it still works just fine! I sold the Ocean Blue so, I am well aware of the type of motor that is required to filter like it does. I believe they compared it to a small engine? They told me the machine shampooed but I never saw the adapters to allow it to work like one. Does the Rainbow come with an extension that allows spraying water out? I could just poor water down and vacuum it up 😂

In my opinion, the SRX is a step backward with reducing the motor down to a single stage, flow-through style and smaller capacity and also stair cleaning is reduced unless you buy a 14 foot hose.
Now, there are several advantages with using a Rainbow versus a conventional machine, including but not limited to consumables. Yes, you have to buy a HEPA for the machine, but the average home can use that filter for five or more years. Miele, Riccar, that MD central vacuum all have a huge environmental impact and disadvantage in price as you may be spending a Rainbow's worth of money just on the filters and bags alone and you're also tossing a lot of plastic into dumps with these machines. The Rainbow, you sift the water and throw away the dirt or...you could compost it. The second advantage has been discussed here as well, the Rainbow is eco-friendly. The motors are designed to last over 50 years compared to the average portable machine (and some central vacuums) that last maybe 30 years.
The third advantage, which was lightly discussed in my first paragraph is the machine, especially now, the Rainbow has very low emissions. It can totally hold up to and exceed current conventional vacuum cleaners, especially the central vacuum, which has some of the worst emissions a machine can have. Yes, the dirt is captured outside of the living space, and yes the machine is vented outdoors but there's a good reason for this and it's the fact that the filtration in these machines is poor. Added to that, each time you run the machine, the air is displaced in the house, usually coming in cracks or open windows, bringing in dirt, dust and other hazardous contaminants from outside and from inside the walls. If you put an eye drop or two of rinse aid in the basin, the non-water soluble dust can now be contained in the water.
You should get an anemometer instead of using the baird meter since those are biased more toward Kirby machines than anything. That's what Bill of Vaclab uses. You get an air reading by volume or speed with those. That being said, at least you don't only use one or the other or a what another youtuber uses that he says is the penultimate way of rating vacuum cleaning power: working water lift gauge. (negative pressure on an orifice plate) I have no issue with how he talks about vacuum cleaners, but when you see him pull this gimmicky device out (which skews more toward the bias of central vacuum cleaners) it seems laughable.
The Rainbow is a Bad mutha sucka. Traps so much air particles and the suction is like Monica Lewinsky with filtration.
I have a Miele and I am tired of buying their high-priced bags and filters every time I turn around. I grew up with a Rainbow cleaner in our house. We were given strict lessons as children on how to operate it by our mother because back then, this was an investment for the home. That Rainbow lasted 30 years. My mother put the pieces back in the original box after she cleaned it up every time she used it. People don't take care of things these days because stuff comes too easily. Compared to that cleaner I grew up with, these machines look cheap.
This review is better than the first negative review. The older model is more expensive than the newer model. Also, the air seeps out of the hose when you connect on the older model. They made the newer model scaled down by lessor suction and more detachable items. Thank for not making a bias review.

Would you recommend a new rainbow over the old or VS for using it as a Room Air cleaner? Did cleaning the air in the room function become any better in its new model?
I would recommend a stand alone air unit that can run 24/7 bissell has one I personally use the filter queen defender... I know electrolux has a couple of models as well.
I just bought a SRX and they have redesigned the power head since this video because on mine the brush roll is much more narrow and thus it picks up way better than the one being shown here actually looks line the black version shown here so I guess they went back to the original design on the power head so looks like rainbow listened to your feed back on this. I’m glad you talked about tipping them over so now that I can be aware of that with mine! Good video! I can tell you know your stuff!

Thank you so much for this presentation. I did have someone come to my home and provided me a demo of the Rainbow SRX. I was really considering purchasing it, even with the $4500. price tag. But after seeing the end of your presentation on the SEBO, I decided to check it out at one of the local dealers. I purchased it about 3 days ago, and when I tell you it's the best vacuum cleaners I've ever own, I mean it. Never paid this much for a vacuum, but I am completely satisfied with it. Thank you again for the information you provide to your views. It was very helpful to me in making my final decision.

When cleaning pet hair you definitely need to check bowl. It can easily fill up with hair. I have clients that have multiple pets, even cleaning every 2 weeks I have to empty it out every 2 rooms. It is not recommended to dump hair done toilet. I use plastic pasta strainer outside and then bag hair.....it doesn't degrade and will leave mess.
If you can find rainbow vacuums used there definitely worth it, or if your budget is bigger then go for new SRX it's very nice 👍

After using the SRX for almost 2 weeks in my cleaning business, I can definitely tell a big difference from the E2 black model 12 I had been using. I was surprised at the amount of dirt it picked up from a vacation rental I clean about once a week..it does a much better job of getting carpets clean. It does require the water bowl to be emptied more. And it does a better job of getting pet hair up. It's more quiet and rolls better.
I never expected to be able to get one new there quite expensive. For $1k used... still too much for me but would be worth it (try eBay you might get lucky)

The pre-HEPA Rainbows did a great job of catching common dirt and dust in the house, but would not catch, obviously any particulate matter that did not get wet easily, and it never claimed to. As a Rainbow agent, I told this to people for years. We were trained to educate owners not to use stuff like carpet fresh, and not to pick up material such as sawdust, sheetrock dust, and other materials naturally resistant to water. Rexair even sold a formula at one time called Aqua-Wet, which could be added to the water in the basin to catch such materials.
The HEPA filter was not added to compensate for this. It was added in the late nineties to conform with new U.S. federal government regulations mandating a HEPA filter for any machine claiming to be an air cleaner, for purposes of maintaining its qualification as an air cleaner by IRS standards for tax credit purposes.
Adding to your post, let me say that of all the models I sold since 1987, you cannot beat the D4SE. Simple, plenty of cleaning power (airflow), basic maintenance like cleaning the separator once a month, service thru your nearest rainbow service center every 4 yrs and all that will result in decades of great results. Going against many Rainbow folks’ opinion, I fully support the addition of the hepa neutralizer. Now we’ve got triple filtration - Separator/water bath/Hepa. And, unless you vacuum up drywall dust and other non-wettable materials, you don’t have to touch the hepa. Your Rainbow Rep will automatically replace it when performing the service. Making sure you use the correct water amt, keeping the separator clean and storing the motor and basin apart will keep the Rainbow, no matter which model, in top condition.

Great video! I also used to sell Rainbows and in my humble opinion, the E2 Black out cleans the SRX 10 times over! I have actually carved the paper cloth material out of the HEPA on the E2 Black and it has SO MUCH MORE airflow and suction… I fill my basin with about 2.8 quarts of water and I also empty the basin after each room… now, I know the water isn’t going to capture everything, but I’d rather have 100% cleaning ability at the head than worry about the .001% of “dust” coming out the back…
The intake on the SRX is way too small which in turn restricts the airflow & suction that the machine is trying to produce which also makes the SRX run HOT. Sure, it may turn at a higher RPM, but when the intake is that small, it doesn’t matter…I’ve had my SRX since December of 2019 and I have used it to vacuum about 7-8 times because it takes me so much longer due to its lack of power… I mostly use it to clean the air 24/7 near our cat boxes… and even though I’ve mostly used it just to clean the air, I’ve already had to get a new computer for it as the other one would shut the machine off at speed 3 after only about 10 minutes of cleaning the air… THANK THE HEAVENS I HAD WARRANTY!
So, with that being said, I use my SRX just to clean the air and I use the power head of the SRX (better design powerhead than the E2 black) hooked up to my E2 black which has 100% airflow and suction. I’ll be sure to make a video of all this on my channel. I hope you’ll watch it! 😊

@@1richnasty I’ll upload a video on my TH-cam channel and show you what I’m talking about… get this, before, when I had my HEPA in place on my Rainbow, (which was always relatively clean), it never felt like I could get all the sand and grit (heavy material) out of the carpeting… but since I removed that filter (which was reducing airflow dramatically), I have to hunt for the dirt now… carpets have never looked better and never been happier 😊

Great video, you have explained the differences so well between these two models. I have a collection of Rainbows, none have a hepa filter, I do use them and change the water often, when it starts to get dirty, when I got my first one I would clean most of my home on one water fill and end up with mud and quickly realized that mud does not filter very well.

26 years ago I paid around 2 grand for my electro license and my mom thought I was crazy I need a new head for the wand it is a beast I got an upgraded version and the maintenance putting a filter in the side I’ve taken it in for servicing twice and once they showed me a simple fix the other was a $50 visit

I am so disappointed in the new SRX. You are spot on how it has poor suction. I was using the attachment for bare floors and it still didn’t pick up some dirt. I had to keep going over it. I can’t tell you how exasperated I was. I will not own another one. I couldn’t suck enough water out of the area rug I cleaned and it started to smell. They won’t take them back either. They are way over priced, but I had to have one. Buyers regret for sure. Now I am on the hunt for a good quality one that has great suction and can get under my bed and work on all types of flooring. Any ideas?

Hey guys, thank you for this video. I briefly sold Rainbows in the 90’s in college. Literally, only for the demos to buy mine and then bailed. I have a house consisting of hardwood floors from 1959, some tile and linoleum in the kitchen and washroom. I also have a dog too. What vacuum do you guys recommend? I just bought a Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro for wet vacuuming/mopping and a Bissell Spot Clean Pet Pro for my furniture and vehicle. I saw several TH-cam videos showing results and recommending both. However, if I simply need to vacuum the floors for a quick clean up or as a pre clean up before the wet vacuum/mop, what would you guys recommend? I also live in Northeast Colorado, where it has lots of wind and dust due to be surrounded by a heavy agricultural area. I care more about performance and quality over anything else even if it means that I’m paying more money for a vacuum. Thank you very much for your help

Sorry for late response.... I love the Miele and sebo straight suction .... miele has the triflex which was just upgraded... but you pay a premium... I personally love canister for multifunction application and the triflex fits that bill with a cordless multifunction machine......I would reach out to cory at the shop he has more input on that than me..but thanks so much for watching..
I like the Dyson not the new one with the one below it. It works really good. I just got the rainbow. I actually I do like it but it’s cumbersome. They caught a lot of stuff and I do have the one you’re talking about the Bissell. I love that one

Which vacuum filters out the finest particles? I had a rainbow for 15 years. Loved it. Let an acquaintance borrow it and they broke it. I've been using a dyson for 5 years. Cons for SRX
- Doesn’t maneuver as well
- Will not roll over own cord on hard floor surfaces, only on carpet
- Harder to access the filter underneath
- Doesn’t suck dirt up as well/had to make several more passes on rugs in particular
- Heavier overall/whole unit and carpet attachment
- No trigger lock on handle
I had a home demo of the SRX, it appeared amazing but I am not one to just buy on the spot. I got online and found the E2 Black for significantly less, however, still wanted to make sure I was making a good choice. I really like the Rainbow for the home purifying feature. What is your opinion of that? Am I better off getting a separate vacuum and purifier?

Never buy rainbows used. Vacuum shops don’t have access to factory parts so it lessens the life expectancy.

I love my E2 and chose not to get the SRX because I just wasn’t impressed with it. I actually love the spinning side brushes. The e2 power head does great going from carpet to hard floors without having to turn the roller off. I love my E2 and own many top and vacuums. SRX is NOT worth the money… also… to the hype of water vacs. To me they are the superior bagless vacs simply for when it comes to emptying the dirt
Are you guys aware that the rainbow has a bare floor attachment? That main one is for carpet.

Okay, so the sebo has more suction, so better than rainbow, I have DC4 SE and am thinking of upgrading to e series 12 silver. But now am thinking of the sebo, so my question is what is sebo suction when bag is 1/2 full? Or max full, please do suction test on sebo with full bag.

The E2's have been phased out therefore, if a unit is procured through a private sale the warranty is void. Rainbow will who the original owner would have been and when the names don't match, the repairs will be an out of pocket expense.
yes ... very aware of that..rainbow is very strict with their warranty policy much like champion windows are... I have never understood this .. either back a machine from date of manufacture or just not offer... so many machines are sold off for various reason regardless of manufacturer. if it is a solid product... it ought to have a solid warranty.. period.

First of all thank you so much for both of you guys is knowledge on the rainbows I had asrx model I returned it because I was having issues with it and now I went back to a Hoover bagged vacuum which Hoover is not the same as it was when I was a kid back in the 80s this was not either and neither is Dirt Devil Eureka used to be a good brand but I don't see a lot of their products anymore which vacuum do you recommend so far as bags I never liked it Bagless models so which and I love uprights better than I do canisters so which bagged upright is do you recommend thank you so much and will continue to watch and does the other young man does he have a TH-cam channel as well

Great vid. I have not seen your previous one where you got bashed though.. I will say that my E2 Black is fully sealed. You can suck water through it and it will not damage it enough to make the user get it serviced. In fact you could technically clean one of fine dust by sucking water through it. I dont recommend it but I have done it and I DO NOT promote it but it 'can' be done.
Another part of this video is where you 2 are talking about sand... NO vacuum has excelled at sand pick up. Carpets are a magnet for sand and the only way I have seen to get most of it out was with a very aggressive beater bar and time.

I am thinking of buying a water-filtering vacuum to clean rock wool/possible asbestos contamination area. I feel this is a good option for maximum safety. All comments welcome if you do or do not think this is safest way as opposed to just HEPA. I will hire professionals once I eliminate the hoarding situation. Thanks!
Using any household use vacuum for fine hazardous dust is a bad idea! What you want is a OSHA certified dust extractor. hilti or festool make very nice units.

I am so sad I bought this vaccum like 5 months ago. The SRX sucks. I have a Riccar and they fooled me onto buying one of these and I hate it. 3k for a vacuum that doesn't suck very well

My D2 has better cleaning ability than the SRX. I’ve tested it several times. New doesn’t mean better.

The rainbow is a certified air cleaner…. You discredited your self the minute you only think of it as a vacuum. You don’t understand the concept. If you sold all types of vacuums, you clearly didn’t care about concept, just the money. Bags and filters coat and clog.
You’re not an engineer. Your a service guy. These things have undergone incredible testing.
I use to sell them so yes they have an allergy tag on them.. but you can buy an air filter a whole heck of alot cheaper...HEPA filters on rainbows have to be replaced like the new bagged machines as well.. NO machine out there will not cost money to maintain...

Have you tried the Kloarik? Let me see if I'm spelling it wrong I'm sure I am but just look this up and it should pop up it's a clear blue shot vac looking water filter system. I would love for you to do a review on it bec it is dirt cheap lol get it... Ha ha but, yeah I am going to buy it anyway bec it's on sale right now for 79. Normally is 140, which I still would pay if it works good. I just don't think it has a HEPA filter like you were talking about. This is why u basically can't use a shot vac as a water filter system. The water would be at the bottom while you have a wet filter on the motor. Then, the air passes threw only catching whatever the filter catches that doesn't fall into the water, right? I have a hart 6 gallon shit vacuum that I paid 30 brand new. This was a stealer deal. The body frame isn't the best but then again I shouldn't have had it above my stomach pushing the dirty air out the window 😂 not doing that again. I pushed the cord to much and it feel over. I'm sad about that and hoping it will get popped out but the good thing is it still works just fine! I sold the Ocean Blue so, I am well aware of the type of motor that is required to filter like it does. I believe they compared it to a small engine? They told me the machine shampooed but I never saw the adapters to allow it to work like one. Does the Rainbow come with an extension that allows spraying water out? I could just poor water down and vacuum it up 😂
