Mom had one in the 90s and we loved it... had someone come show us the SRX and they wanted $3,000 and I wasn't going to spend that much. I went to Facebook market place and they go for around $1,000. I asked everyone if they would take $400. Had 1 person that said $500 and I snagged it up! All I've done is replace the hepa filter. Runs wonderfully!!!!
I have the Rainbow E2 since 2002 and it works today like it did the first day. I leave it in the corner of the lounge air purifying all day. It rehumidifies the dry air from the heating. Just picks up everything. Got a second one online for £70 with all attachments a few years back. Simply cannot beat a Rainbow!!!
I had one from the 1940s, still worked. Had a steel tank. They also made larger tanks for the newer ones. They’re the best. I have an E series now. The best!
The key difference in carpet cleaning is the Dyson canister has an air-driven turbo brush in which a small fan spins the brush whereas the Rainbow has a dedicated electric motor that turns the brushroll. Turbo brushes have less agitation power. Electric powerheads cost more because of the additional motor and wiring required to power it but they can use bigger brushrolls and make stronger carpet agitation. That's why the Dyson canister only cleans the top of the carpet and the Rainbow deep cleans the carpet.
@@Pigglet4056 True! For the price Dyson charges back then and today you expect them to work better. I think it's so strange that most of the Dyson canisters were sold with a turbo but not a proper hard floor brush.

I have my Rainbow since 1996! It still runs because the filter is water. When you use bags, all the dirt does is get pulverized into smaller pieces and that's what you are breathing in - finer dust particles. We used to have the expensive Kirby's and Electrolux's had to buy the replacement filters and the thing stunk, you could tell someone vacuumed. With the water filter, you suck in all flea eggs, roaches, spiders - they are DEAD IN THE WATER! with the bag filters, you gotta tape them down so the bugs won't crawl out and bite you in the butt! The spiders, bugs, fleas are all dead in the water! No vacuum is perfect, but I've had my Rainbow for years and because of the water filter, it has never died on me. The Kirby and Electrolux died and had to get new ones. You never have to replace Rainbows.
I think she said the Rainbow does not have a filter. It does have a hepa filter which needs to be changed out periodically. I called my Rainbow distributor to ask about this and she said if we have pets, then change the filter about once a year or so. We have no pets and do not smoke so she said we won’t need a new filter for a long time. We have the same model as the one in the video which is the SRX and we’ve had it for about 3 years now and the filter is still good.
For those that don't want to pay that much, you can find old ones online or even at the curb! My dad gave me his 80's one, and works like a beast! Is the only thing to suck up spiders and webs! Never ever reassemble to put away. The canister must be completely dry! Or it will rust mower and barrings.
The older rainbow such as the D3C or the D4C has much better power head, more suction and more air flow. The older power heads even have a beater bar that shakes the deep embedded dirt to the top.
Your rainbow is foaming from previous carpet cleaning soap in carpet. It happens to me if I use Kirby shampoo foam clean carpet. You should upgrade the power nozzle on your rainbow. It will clean much better. Because it has better air path the belt is on side. Yours is on middle where air path is which has smaller air path. Sorry for long comment lol
The Rainbow wavering in pitch like that with the gurgling means it was overloaded with something that foams in the water and there are a couple of reasons for that. One could be whatever was used to shampoo that carpet used a cleaning solution that foams, say from a Rug Doctor or an agent from dry "suds" or encapsulation cleaning like a Kirby. The other being that the Dyson really wasn't cleaning your carpet (no surprise there since Dysons automatically void carpet warranties due to either poor performance of deep cleaning or they shred carpet fibres prematurely wrecking the carpet) and the Rainbow was collecting all of that filth left over from years of cleaning. To minimize this from happening, the Rainbow should be emptied every 15-30 minutes of vacuuming. You just keep an eye on the water and when it is brown, it should be changed and the water in your machine needed changing as not only because of the sound but the water also wasn't flowing the way it should have.
When I first moved away from home, Mom gave me hers. I loved it! Unfortunately when I was moving apartments someone stole it. I still miss it and can't afford one now. 😞
When we bought our house, the previous owner left their Rainbow. They told up the just did not want it anymore so we could have it if we wanted it. I had never heard of a Rainbow vacuum. The Rainbow does clean very well, BUT, it is incredibly inconvenient to use. I have to haul out the vacuum unit and hoses, take it apart, fill the water tub, then re-assembly. And vacuuming with it is like hauling around a Shop Vac. We got to were we never used the Rainbow anymore due to it being so inconvenient. We bought a Ryobi cordless vacuum and love it. When we finished using it, we charge the battery so it is ready to go the next time we need it. We vacuum often now with the Ryobi and never use the Rainbow anymore. And the Ryobi cost $150 vs the Rainbow at $3,000.
I agree with hauling but that is the ONLY negative. If you have allergies you will definitely notice the difference as soon as you turn another vacuum on! Dust goes everywhere but with the Rainbow it traps it. The power is also AMAZING. It's an air purifier. It can mop, shampoo, vacuum, etc. If anything breaks you can fix it yourself. And they last DECADES!!! While you might use the Ryobi now, let us know in 5yrs, probably one year, if it's still going strong
@@SamirasWeb I have lots of Ryobi tools that are way over 5 years old and still going strong. And even if my Ryobi vacuum were to die after 5 years, it only costs $150 to replace it. The D series Rainbows were the best machines they ever made, from both an aesthetic and performance and build quality standpoint. When they changed to plastic it was all downhill. The reason the new ones have hepa filters is because not all dust is trapped by water and people dont change the water often enough. Adding the hepa filter negates the entire point of water filtration. Constant airflow.
Ok so you vacuum it up and it goes to the water? So tha would be the same if the dyson was hooked up to the water???? Im confused…? So the only difference is the Purifier which can be brought separately as the rainmaker

Yes thank you I was wondering if any one else caught she was comparing a 15yr old Dyson to a brand new Rainbow. Not trying to grief her over it, but I have cleaned with both and consider both to be quality machines. (At least the Animal 3 extra that I have used)
IF you have animals, save yourself and buy a Rainbow! I grew up with a rainbow. After college I couldn’t afford one but saved my money up for a Dyson. Even with careful maintenance, it always smelled like dog when I turned it on. I killed two of them within 5 years. I then got smart and found a Rainbow dealer, bought a used one for less than 300. I used that Rainbow for over 13 years and finally purchased a brand new one a few years back. He even gave me 300 for my old one!!! I have 6 dogs and 3 cats. I NEVER have had it smell like dogs. It always smells clean and fresh. I have it cleaned yearly by the local dealer. That Rainbow is one of THE best cleaning systems out there. PLUS, the new model has a great mopping system for it!
People love the claim that the whole vacuuming with one machine and then going over with another is an old salesman trick. I don't agree. Every vacuum will always leave some little amount of something behind unless you go over and over the same spot forever. But a great vacuum will always get the most on the first try as apposed to a crappy vacuum anytime. Rainbow's are just better machines than Dyson's. Especially with the vacuum head! Rainbow vacs have much better agitation than Dyson. Dyson doesn't have great agitation for anything above low pile carpets. Even those they aren't great for. They are best for quick clean ups and suction. Suction is the only thing they excel with but with attachments that fall short the suction is rather wasted. Rainbows are great cleaners and the water basin is a quick clean up unlike the bagless design of the Dyson. Yeah you can empty them quick enough...till you have to clean out the cyclones and that is a disgusting long process that anyone not tech savvy or comfortable with taking them apart isn't not going to do. And the battery powered Dyson's... forget even trying to take them apart as the cyclone is built into top alone with all the electronics but if you don't do it your Dyson will have a perpetual odor even with clean filters. Rainbows just dump the basin and rinse it out and make sure the little separator is clean here and there and you're good. All easy to do for anyone.
Agree. I bought my E2 Black 6 years ago and, the whole body crackles, the wheels are cheap (furniture-like) and the metal pipes lose electrical connection and tightness. It's getting louder and louder while my parents' Rainbow bought in the 90's is still in perfect condition. Silent and efficient.
The rainbow never clogs it uses air flow. Dyson talks about never losing suction. When was the last time you cleaned your house with a toilet plunger ? The Rainbow will never lose air flow because it uses water- wet dust can't fly.
RAINBOW ES EL MEJOR EQUIPO DEL MUNDO, NO HAY OTRO EQUIPO K LO IGUALE, y MUCHO MENOS K LO SUPERE, HACE MUCHOS AÑOS LO TENGO Y NUNCA ME HE ARREPENTIDO, SI ALGUIEN NECESITA UN RAINBOW ME PUEDE ESCRIBIR ✍️
Umm, no. You don't get the same quality of clean and you're cursed with spending money on expensive consumables like filters and bags plus Sebo and Miele last a fraction of the lifetime of a Rainbow plus you cannot do wet cleaning like mopping floors, washing your carpets and cleaning upholstery like you can with a Rainbow. If I was to recommend a bagged vacuum cleaner, it would be anything from Numatic. Eurovacs are more of a pain to do simple maintenance to the power nozzle and machine than Rainbows are as well. Do not get me started on Sebo power nozzles and the crappy way to do service to them when a brushroll has to be replaced, you don't replace the bearings as well. Also, if the brushes on the brushroll are worn out on a Rainbow PN2(E) and this PN3, you just replace the brush strips. Sebo machines you put more plastic in the garbage because you are tossing the whole brushroll.
@@WJCTechyman All I’m suggesting is for anyone who’s in the market for a new vacuum to consider Miele or Sebo (Numatic is good too) before dropping $2-3K on a Rainbow. Sebo and Miele make phenomenal machines, consumables are not expensive, particularly Sebo, and bags and filters do not need to be changed every time you clean, like when you have to dump the water out of a Rainbow, clean the tank and dry it after every use. Rainbows aren’t bad machines, but there are other really great vacuums to also consider.
😂😂 You compared the worst with the best! Dyson is the worst vacuum by far. Rainbow is the best. Anyone with a dyson has no idea how much dust it pumps back out. Awful!! Yay Rainbow!!

All easy to do for anyone.
older rainbows are better then srx i had srx its so bad after few months
What happened?
Rainbow is superior to all vacuums.
I’m a rainbow dealer. It’s a fun gig
Her strokes when vacuuming with the rainbow are too fast. The slower the stroke (pause😶) the more effective the rainbow can clean.
OMG
RAINBOW ES EL MEJOR EQUIPO DEL MUNDO, NO HAY OTRO EQUIPO K LO IGUALE, y MUCHO MENOS K LO SUPERE, HACE MUCHOS AÑOS LO TENGO Y NUNCA ME HE ARREPENTIDO, SI ALGUIEN NECESITA UN RAINBOW ME PUEDE ESCRIBIR ✍️
Why don't you go over it again with the Dyson after using the rainbow I bet you pick up more dirt again.
I suggest that anyone who is looking for a new quality vacuum to check out Miele and Sebo before considering a Rainbow.
Why do you wear shoes inside the house? Shoes are for outside, you’re bringing in dirt and filth into your home.
They are my inside shoes only because I need to wear support in them.
@@EverythingHomemadewithRita the way the carpet look says otherwise wise but you got me sold on the rainbow vacuum 😁
Why Americans love carpet 🤷🏻♀️ this is so bad for allergies, so much dust and dirty inside
We don't but flooring is expensive to completely replace.
So brandnew clean rainbow vs abused and disgusting Dyson
A rainbow vacuum from 30 years ago would’ve done the same thing
The Dyson vacuumed is not the bast the rainbow vacuumed is the best
Just bought a rainbow 🌈 and so far all i got to say is THAT IT IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!
And i have to say i thought my cheep walmart portable vac was not picking up but after seeing how my this dyson missed it is absolutely appalling at how my Walmart vacuum cleaned even more than this dyson did
