- This is a commission project to build the USS Enterprise 1701-A as it was seen in Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country, using AMT's infamous 1/537 scale model kit. A lot of modifications and upgrades will be needed to turn this old kit into something that resembles the original!

Watching the whole series of this built. I have learned a lot of how to make this work better and than when I first built it in late 1979/80 as a young teenager.

Thanks. As you can see from the video series, the kit doesn't make it easy and fights you all the way. Even some of the aftermarket stuff made things more difficult than they needed to be! Worth the effort in the end though, the client was over the moon when it was handed over 👍

Tremendous job. Very nice and accurate. I'm building this exact kit and I'm having trouble with the docking port, ring decals. What did you do about the membrane covering the indented circle? Thanks!
I carefully trimmed it away after the decal had fully dried. If you use some decal setting solvent it'll tighten up like a drum over the space, easy to trim then 👍
Wow looks amazing. How did you manage to hold the pylons and saucer etc all square in place ?
There's a lot of internal bracing to keep things tight and true. Have a look back through previous videos, it's shown there 👍
do you or any of your commenters know why the arrowhead on the side of the engineering section is a mirror image of the other side.
Not a clue, sorry...😆 Gary Kerr is probably the best person to ask, he's forgotten more about the Enterprise than most people will ever know!
What color are the LED lights on the top portion of the forward parts of the two Nacelles? Are they white, blue, or one red and one green?
Not sure which you're referring to, sorry. There aren't any green or red marker lights on the nacelles, just the blue chiller grille, white markers and yellow RCS thrusters at the rear, blue crystals on the top and white flood lights on the front
Have you solved the problems with the nacelle pylons?
Lengths of hollow rectangular brass were embedded into them, then anchored into the secondary hull with steel epoxy putty. You can see this in more detail in the earlier videos
What are your colors?
All custom, mixed using various Tamiya colours. I didn't record any recipes though, just eyeballed everything
