Honda Accord Push Button Won’t Start/Crank Fix

- Our 2014 Accord started having intermittent starting issues. It was very intermittent but started happening more often.
I was able to determine that it was the starter motor causing the issue

So front headlight or blinkers one is the middle one of those three?
Same issue with me, every time i push button starter just grinds and after 3-4 times it then fires. Also replaced starter and still happens.
My key light is flashing green…what do i need to do? Reset the key??
My 2014 hybrid plug in just started making that noise when I start and turn it off it starts up no problem but makes that weird noise
I had the exact problem with my accord and I replaced the starter and it solved the issue!
How much did it cost for parts and service?

@deonteharville5421 yes, it was just a bad starter. Changed it out and haven't had a problem since

@@lostenlamar2780 dealership ended up replacing my starter and that did the trick. 2 months ago and haven’t had 1 problem since. I went through warranty and paid $100 deductible.
I had the same problem, I replaced my starter this morning at 116,000 miles so hopefully that will solve the problem!

2015 lx with only 70000 km. same trouble. intermittent. push switch is junk.
I am having the same problem. We have changed the starter Twice now. Still is doing it. So any idea what else could be wrong
Did you replace it with an aftermarket or OEM starter?

Its the starter that are poorly designed and is a common issue honda is trying to hide under a rug.
They dont want a recall. Wait for litigation from class action, downside is the starters are sourced by one manufacturer only and your options are limited in aftermarket space.
It’s not the starter. This is a stupid video. It’s the push start button itself. The smallest bits of dirt or grime in between two of the connectors inside of it can cause this issue. Replace (or repair, there are videos for that too) the starter button.
I have a 2017 honda accord sedan and it’s giving me problems I can start it but it won’t cut all the way off the 2 screens in the car still will be on so to keep the battery from dying I unplug one of the battery post . My push start button flashes green and my key fob no longer starts my car .. could you pls tell me what you may think it could be

@@breec.4966 I did get it fixed. It was a bad electrical wire for my sunroof. It shut down the entire car.

How much did it cost to get it replaced? Mine started doing this months ago and now is getting really bad
I just replaced the battery in the key fob and it works fine now! Make sure the replacement battery is the exact same as the old one and that it's inserted correctly and all. I have a 2014 EX-L though, so ymmv (your mileage may vary)

Same problem but no lights for me. 2014 Accord Ex-L, bought used 68k miles. Like, it won’t let me press the brake, gear shift doesn’t move, no lighrs on the dash but a weird beeping noise after I attempt to start
Did you figure out what is was??? Currently broke down. Same problem. 2013 honda accord. Won't turn over, no dash lights, and the push button is beeping and flashing green light 30 times.
@@kristenadorno The key fob battery was dead, if I remember correctly. I just had to make sure the new battery was the same as the old and that it was put in the right way. Hope this helps!
@margotfayepenner7103 thank you for replying! I'm having the same issue as you did but my key fob battery is brand new.. I replaced it last month but I put another new battery in it this morning just to be sure. Still won't turn over and still no dash lights 😕

Mar cars got a new battery in it, has power but when I use the push to start it kills my battery
But this car has no dash lights that wouldn't b the starter

I have been having the same problems for over 7 months since I bought my 2015 honda accord. Had the starter replaced and still having the same problem. Takes like 10 starts for it
to fail. Thinking its the ignition switch? I only have 60k helppp!!!
I’m having the same issue with my 14 accord. I turn it on and off often throughout the day and it’s never given me an issue until a couple of weeks ago, it takes a few tries for it to turn on and recently for the past two days, it’s done it three times again. Idk if it’s the starter and I only have 60k too!!

It's the crank shaft. They haven't made a recall for this yet. I've seen many post on TH-cam about same issue. Honda won't release a recall unless there has been many complaints.

Hello Honda having the problem 2015 si!!!!! What do I replace????
Not just accord . All honda with push start button, fail or will fail due to cheap cheesy plastic and tiny little metallic prongs which after a few years, get weak and slightly "off" the conductive line. All it takes less than a milimeter gap for the contacts to not work or dirt on pins/contacts. Honda refuses to acknowledge due to cost of recall which would likely bankrupt company....

What does it mean when all signals starts flashing on the dashboard after a recall check up ? They said it was in perfect condition even the battery

Happen to me told them I think I neee a new alternator lol 😂 got a water pump instead, 2 days later car had a check electrical service on the dash again and all power failed, which if your not careful will lock your steering….luckily I saw my lights dimming and steering tightening before a complete shut down…I only take my car into do repairs because I don’t own all the tools I may need 😂 but they putting my life on the line literally
Is this a cvt transmission? How many mileage now on the odo?
The cvt transmission, or should I say, the transmission, is irrelevant to this issue. It's not even necessary to replace the entire started. The failure is the copper washer that makes the connection from 12v to the starter motor.

So what you did? How you got it fixed? Any updates after 6 months?
Mine does the same thing except it happens randomly and it shows a yellow light next to the RPM gauge saying "STARTER SYSTEM". Any ideas, please? Thank you

Changed the starter… still doesn’t work.
It’s not the starter. It’s something with the anti-theft device. Use the key fab to push the button. It seemed to reset the key and anti-theft and then would start working again. Also have had success just locking and unlocking the car too. Make sure you have a good battery in the fab. That could cause the issue too. Good luck!

@@ericabobrow562 awesome! Eventually it kept being an issue and it was diagnosed that the starter was bad. Had it replaced and no more issues.

NOBODY wants to hear " I have the same issue on mine" in the comments.. if you don't have the solution shut the hell up
