Like others have said, I wasn't explained ANY of this stuff when I bought my 2013 Honda Accord - super appreciated! I had NO idea there was a hidden key in there!! I was also given a separate remote start fob - wish they were one in the same fob, but it's ok. Now I just need to know how to program the remote start so it runs longer than 10 minutes because it's not long enough of a warm up in my cold Montana winters!
Thank Your for the comment, if memory serves me right, if you repeat the starting process on the remote start fob, that should add 10 more mins. So if you let the car run for 9 mins, repeat and you should get another 10 *from that point (you can only do that 1 time)

This helped me a lot, I have had a 2013 Accord Coupe with SmartKey for a few months and I never knew what the key lock on the floor was for, and the switch in the glovebox, thanks for the tips Jason!
Thank you for the quick tutorial. I just got a Honda Fit, and managed to activate my alarm system. I think what I didn't do correctly was press the Start button twice for accessories. I only pushed the button once while sitting in the car with the keys, and no foot on the brake. You might want to make note of that on an updated video. Thanks again for all the cool tips though, this helped me a lot otherwise =]

I picked up a 2017 v6 touring and was quite sad that I couldn't use my fog lights with the Drls then I realized my headlights were all led and i got over it lol

My accord 2016 Ex-l cant remote start and when i pressed the lock button on the driver door handle it wont lock the car. It only had 43k miles on dashboard. Anticipating your response. The issue has been rectified (antenna cable inside rear ac vent wasn't connected)

I have the 2015 Ex-l with Nav r cylinder. I like the feature that you can start your car lock it and come back cart its warmed up. Now sense the remote is so powerful why not let it auto start with you remote? I had a viper alarm in 2005 that did it.
Nice tips - thanks. You mention at the end of the video that you can start the car and then leave with the keys and lock it. On my 2013 Honda Accord, once the car is started and I leave the vehicle with the smart key (in the starting the car on a cold day and let it warm up a bit scenario), I can't seem to then lock the doors from outside the vehicle. Pressing the lock buttons or the button on the door handle does nothing in that scenario. Should that work, or is that the feature trying to stop the keys from being locked in the car preventing me from doing that?

This was really helpful. I'm wondering about the immobilizer device and the Honda SmartKey. I went to start my 2013 Accord without the keyfob nearby and the dash lit up with what looked like every alert lamp, along with a "Power is On" message, but the car would not start. The brake depressed and the steering wheel locked. When I realized the key fob was missing, I brought it back with me into the car to try these things you showed in the video to start the car. Nothing has worked. I even replaced the fob battery. No go. Is there an immobilizer reset procedure you can refer me to? (BTW, we had just driven the car with two stops an hour or so earlier, so I don't think the starter would give out without an indicator during start ups just previously.)

The car starts remotely with the RS-13AC Keyfob, but once I unlock the doors, the car stops and I cannot start it with only this remote starter fob, I have to have the regular fob from this video to start and drive the car. I am thinking there has to be a way to program the remote engine starter key fob. Surely Honda would not make me carry 2 Fobs?

I loved this video as I have the exact same car, but I noticed my car drives without the key in it . I started the car with the key , whilst running , I went inside , forgot the key, jumped in my car and drove over 4miles without my keyfob. One of the features I wish I had in my accord sport. The second would be a sunroof and third would be black headliner like the 17 sports. still happy with it though. Two minor gripes: when window lock is on the driver can't roll the other windows down 2. No outside trunk release on non equipped comfort access cars
@HondaPro Jason... What happens when you car battery dies and your steering wheel is locked? I see how to get it out of park with the physical key near the shifter and into neutral, but not how to unlock the steering wheel.
Jason...with the push button start, how do you go from running mode to accessories mode without shutting down completely? Like turning key from running to accessories mode. I like to keep the radio on without turning everything off and then back on just to listen to radio after stopping the engine.

Had the car for 3 months and it has happened 6 times. Suggestions? Also our FOB's will not roll down the windows. Is there a menu feature to enable that?

Jason, I don't know how they did it, but my kids locked my smart key and my entire purse in the car. It's all in there... My keys, in fact, never leave my purse because I love my smart key so much. Any idea how I get them out? This is a big problem because my husband is a pilot and doesn't come home till Tuesday - and I live in two gated acres, so I can't call someone to help me because the gate opener is also - wait for it - IN THE CAR!

My HRV didn't start today. Makes a sound like a dead car battery soI put ithe FOB next to the start stop button & it did start. Great. Then I saw "no key " displayed on dash & never saw this before and can't find out what it means. Checked fob battery ,2.93 volts, yet I had to put it next to the start/stop to start it. Why? If I were to loose the entire fob, or it's stolen with the spare key inside, is there Anyway to start the hrv in this emergency situation. It seems even if I had the key from the fob alone, I still could not start the vehicle because there is no place to insert the key alone. I could be in real trouble alone in a bad neighborhood. HRV manual does not seem to address these questions. I was also told the tailgate button does not work on my HRV. Really, why not, everything else does. Do you recommend using the door panel lock button to lock all doors or the black button on the handle? Sorry about so many questions, but it's hard to find anyone who really understands the nuisances. I appreciate your time & advice.

You can, in fact, lock the key fob in the car(2014 Honda Accord EX-L). Wife just did it. She is Military, and while at the range, she placed her keys in her Kevlar helmet, put the helmet in the back seat, and closed the back door of the car. Car automatically locked the doors once she closed the back door. Now she is locked out. I actually came across your video series now, while trying to figure out how to help her without driving 65 miles to take the other set of keys to her.... but no luck here either. On the road I go...

Is there a way to unlock all four doors on the 2015 Crosstour without pushing the button on the fob? Is there a setting that allows me to walk up to the door, put my hand in the door handle, and all four doors unlock?
thing that happened to an HR-V I sold....2 Weeks ago I sold a '16 HR-V EX. Next thr after the delivery the Smart Key stops working, not wanting to open any doors on the car. Honda technicians changed door handles, re-programmed both keys, and nothing. Customer opted out the contract thinking his HR-V was a lemon. He takes evrything he has out of the car, including an ALUMINUM can of fix a flat, that was located on under the cargo tray right next to the proximty sensor of the trunk gate. Yes!!! ALL OF THIS PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY INTERFERENCE FROM THE ALUMINUM CAN, since next day when the technician comes in, the SMART KEY SYSTEM WAS WORKING JUST FINE... service manager did a test with aluminum foil covering the sensor, and YES, IT DID NOT WORK AGAIIN, so guys, keep in mind not to put aluminum objects close to the sensors when having a smart key entry system
Jason, If I accidentally leave the car running in the garage and take the key in the house, the car will remain running, right? Is there any timeout that will shut the car off after a certain amount of time to prevent CO poisoning?

Every once in a while when I step in to my car after starting it remotely the climate control system will remain running after I depress the brake pedal and press to start. i live in a place where it gets really cold in the winter, and im not sur if the push button start is ideal for extreme cold, when i push it will it always crank the engine enough for it to start on artic ice weather? With a key, i can crank it as long as needed, the way i see it its better than a button, no?... also, is there a way to start the car with that key in the fob instead of using the push button?

I learned that I can shut it down to JUST ACC power today! Hold the auto transmission shifter button in AND press the start/stop button. COOL!

You would have to shut the car off and then without your foot on the brake press the start button

Jason, i have lost key #1 to my 2015 Honda Accord.
How do get another one and how much will it cost?
Right now this system is only on the Accord, Odyssey and the Crosstour but will be on all other models soon.
Jason so how do you GET OUT OF, or turn off accessory mode so you can start the car back up again?
you can just press the brake and the start button, the car will start up

Do you have a video how to program a smart key fob for a Honda accord?
You can, in fact, lock the key fob in the car(2014 Honda Accord EX-L). Wife just did it. She is Military, and while at the range, she placed her keys in her Kevlar helmet, put the helmet in the back seat, and closed the back door of the car. Car automatically locked the doors once she closed the back door. Now she is locked out. I actually came across your video series now, while trying to figure out how to help her without driving 65 miles to take the other set of keys to her.... but no luck here either. On the road I go...

Is there a way to unlock all four doors on the 2015 Crosstour without pushing the button on the fob? Is there a setting that allows me to walk up to the door, put my hand in the door handle, and all four doors unlock?

thing that happened to an HR-V I sold....2 Weeks ago I sold a '16 HR-V EX. Next thr after the delivery the Smart Key stops working, not wanting to open any doors on the car. Honda technicians changed door handles, re-programmed both keys, and nothing. Customer opted out the contract thinking his HR-V was a lemon. He takes evrything he has out of the car, including an ALUMINUM can of fix a flat, that was located on under the cargo tray right next to the proximty sensor of the trunk gate. Yes!!! ALL OF THIS PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY INTERFERENCE FROM THE ALUMINUM CAN, since next day when the technician comes in, the SMART KEY SYSTEM WAS WORKING JUST FINE... service manager did a test with aluminum foil covering the sensor, and YES, IT DID NOT WORK AGAIIN, so guys, keep in mind not to put aluminum objects close to the sensors when having a smart key entry system
Jason, If I accidentally leave the car running in the garage and take the key in the house, the car will remain running, right? Is there any timeout that will shut the car off after a certain amount of time to prevent CO poisoning?
good info on honda's Jason. Now question, can you or anyone tell me is there is any way to record CD's to the hard drive of a 2015 Accord without the skipping. Obviously I'm referring to a mixed CD... Please help.. Also, Any easier way to enter information into the NAVI because using the NAVI is a missing. Most times I use my phone because it's just easier.
Great vids! But please help me!😅… I have remote start on my 2017 accord, smart key. Every once in a while when I step in to my car after starting it remotely the climate control system will remain running after I depress the brake pedal and press to start. I don’t know how to do it, but every once in a while, it works and I would love to keep doing it. Help me ha ha.

make sure the other key (key fob 1) is not in the car. After that I would reset the Infotainment system to factory defaults.
i live in a place where it gets really cold in the winter, and im not sur if the push button start is ideal for extreme cold, when i push it will it always crank the engine enough for it to start on artic ice weather? With a key, i can crank it as long as needed, the way i see it its better than a button, no?... also, is there a way to start the car with that key in the fob instead of using the push button?
