Alright mate, I had a similar issue with my E46 M3. Head unit was flickering on and off, dash lights were intermittent and the central locking wouldn't work. Turned out to be my passenger door mirror fuse because I had washed it and water must have got in and blew the fuse. No idea why it caused all those issues but replacing the fuse fixed it. Not saying that's your problem but its worth looking at. All the best 👍

Dan, not sure if this’ll be much help, but a few years ago my old E61 started getting issues with the central locking. I also started havjng I drive issues and alarm problems, turned out to be the wiring harness to the tailgate causing the issues. There are control units in the top of the tailgate. Bmw in their infinite wisdom threaded the wiring harness through the hinges 🤔 not sure if it’s worth checking.

Have my e60 10 years now. 84k when I bought it, 207k on it now. Great car. Had a few issues with the. PDC going down due to bad sensors. Other than that all good.

The Airbag light is usually the IBS is gone or going. Next you'll get the battery drain until one morning the battery is dead. I have the 535d and I can't even remember half of the stuff I've done. Couple of days ago the high pressure hose for the active steering let go and pissed all the fluid out in 300 meters. Lucky I was in a village at 50kmh but 19 Minutes before I was in the Autobahn at 150. That has given me cause for concern. Also, tue rear brake lines are needing done. I also habe the track rod ends needing done. Last year I had to rebuild the engine, and now the ZF6HP26 gesrbox is needing some serious work. I live in Germany but I can't buy the overhaul kit here for some reason I habe to import it from the US. All said and done it's a great driving car but Jesus Christ it likes attention. The Mercedes fans here say BMW means Bring Mich Werkstatt (take me to the garage) and it fits! But it would have bankrupted me already if I couldn't do the work myself. Good luck mate!
Shell now have the contract with bmw, i deliver bulk oil on hehalf of shell and 99% of bmw dealerships take LL04 0w30 oil and the other 1% take LL04 5w30. It goes in pretty much everything apart from M cars
The way I understand it is that BMW changed the LL rating to cover the requirements of their new B58 turbo 4 cylinder engine and required the oil manufacturers to re-certify their oil to retain the LL rating. Either Castrol and Mobil had not done that OR their oils didn't comply with the new requirements. So the same oil that formerly had the certification should still be OK in the M57.
I have a 535xi wagon and have had a laundry list of issues. When it’s running good it feels like the perfect wagon but it’s not often anymore. Had to rewire all of the line running to the lift gate. Wires came too short from manufacture and after a while the lines breaks from constant use of lift gate. My whole trunk got flooded all of the modules got destroyed lucky it was covered under warranty. Had to replace a ton of stuff under the hood including the turbos. Never ending electrical issues. I’m at a point where if I sell I can’t get much and seems like a waste because when you look at it it looks like it’s in good shape. Spent so much on this car. Seriously don’t know what to do with it. Would not recommend 535xi wagon to anyone in US. Not sure it you guys got the same elsewhere.
The central locking issue is probably due to the ignition problem. Car won’t lock/alarm if it thinks the keys are in it. I’d check the thrust arm bushes, similar wobbles rod ends. HTH
The rear drains also get blocked, those are the worst as they allow the battery compartment to fill up and the wheel well with all the Modules. Good work though!
Car's are ungrateful sob's man. My C4 VTS had MOT in June, needed a new shockabsorber and a cv-boot to pass, but it also needed an aircon pump, timing belt, both droplinks and 2 tires. Thought about getting another car for a while, finally took the decision to have it fixed, and 1 day later the exhaust fell off....
@Dan - I have a 2007 e60 - Done the same a few months back - the things just round out, I had applied penetrating fluid, wound the nut back and forwards, all the right things, but the nut got stuck right on the end !!
Try a new battery maybe. My E46 was starting fine but doing loads of weird little things for months, lights flickering, radio playing up, central locking not working all the time ect until I put a new battery in it and it's been fine since
On my 530d, the fuse went at the back of the radio.. Its a very overlooked thing.. Just incase it goes of and doesn't come back. Writing this at start of the video. So not sure the outcome yet.. And as you no the modules in boot are another possible cause... But obviously makes sense if you just washed it. Module got wet
Boot hinge wiring or diversity antenna is normally the cause of central locking failure on e61’s, but definitely check the wiring behind the glovebox front passenger footwell for water ingress, biggest problems I’ve had with mine have all been electrical issues
Water & BMW’s just don’t seem to go. Slightest bit of water and my E81 likes to think a bulb has gone making the indicators flash like the clappers. I know with the E60/E61 water ingress in the boot can be an issue, seen some vids where the modules in the boot are relocated away from the floor? Keep up the vids lad.
Bad news is once the ccc idrive starts doing that it only gets worse. They are renowned for it. There are people out there that can repair them for not a lot of money. Luckily for me the previous owner of my E92 upgraded my system to the cic as fitted to 2009ish onwards cars and it's way better.

I had a brand new one series in 2015 and everytime it rained really hard the idrive system would either fail completely or random stuff would happen like when it said all the bulbs had failed for the headlights on the car...when I was driving home at night and they clearly hadn't as my lights were working. Spent half its life in and out of BMW before I chucked the keys back at them.

Buy some conformal coating and coat the board in it, so if it does get any moisture on it, it would be waterproof. It's what I use on my drones for flying in the rain.
On my e60 I had some water ingress issues which turned out to come from the drivers footwell and work its way backwards (it was soaking under the carpet). The culprit was a blocked drain pipe in the area beneath the brake booster. The drain normally flows into the area behind the wheel arch. I essentially had a nice little pond. Granted your issues appear to be at the rear of the car but worth checking upfront also. Good luck

The bluetooth mulf unit which is located in the boot can cause the radio and idrive not to work just disconnect it

Wheel wobble. Have you checked you haven’t lost your wheel weights. Had same issue recently and that’s what it turned out to be.
