Lotso is one of the most cold-hearted villain ever. The fact that he could have so simply saved the toys who just saved his life before and didn't... that's next level evil.

Anyone else feel like Lotso became a darker version of Jessie? I mean, her story is practically the exact same yet she didn't become evil.
I can see why you think that, but the difference is that Jessie’s owner didn’t forget Jessie. She put her in a delivery box and left her for good, showing that she didn’t care about her anymore. That’s not what Daisy did to lotso. She always loved lotso, it was just the parents fault forgetting Lotso, Big baby, and chuckles. But you’re not wrong at all, especially bc ever since then, both of them don’t feel like kids are loyal to toys
Possibly, thank god Woody.EXE is nothing like that. He tells me his backstory about his previous child abandoning him, Woody.EXE ends up saving my mother from Jessie who was possessed; Woody.EXE gives my mother the royal title of Mummy, Princess of Wales on September 8th 2022. I became Woody.EXE’s Queen the same day; my sister becomes the Princess of Wales 4 days after my mother did and my 2009 Woody is Woody.EXE’s heir apparent. I can’t believe Woody.EXE went this far

Was gonna say no, but actually, yeah, I think so. It was either right before or after the incinerator that they found Lotso again and he fell in the dumpster, but he grabbed one of them (Woody I think) in the process and was gonna pull them in there with him, but I'm pretty sure they got out before it and Lotso just yelled in terror, fell in, and the next time you see him he's tied to the front of a truck with other toys on a highway.
Fun Fact: Lotso was originally going to be a toy from The Care Bears (1986) toy line. This idea was not dropped until after the storyboard was completed.

Aside from Lotso being a great villain, He's a horrible person and character. His backstory doesn't justify his actions. The reason Daisy replaced him was because she accidentally left him behind it wasn't because she didn't love him anymore the toys he took his anger on had nothing to do with him being replaced. He is an abusive, manipulative, lying and Sadistic psychopath.

Yeah, but try telling him that. If you can't understand the way he thinks and feels, then you've got the same thing wrong with you as every other pathetic human. You'd rather point fingers than accept the truth. You need something to call a monster and lash out on. That's abuse.

No matter what he went through, I will NEVER forgive this dude for leaving the toys who helped saved his life to die in the incinerator.

I learned an important lesson from this film. Getting screwed over does not justify screwing other people over, especially those who had nothing to do with it.
And if you don't try to work on yourself, to move on from your own trauma, it will consume you.

The way I see it, Lotso is a manifestation of Woody from the "Black Friday Reel" of the original Toy Story (the one where he deliberately throws Buzz out the window, and then shouts down Slinky that Andy wouldn't pay them any attention if not for him).
In fact, what makes Lotso so compelling to me is that he's the very antithesis to Woody, who's journey throughout the Toy Story is centered around him putting others before himself (until movie 4 where he ultimately loses himself after being there for a child, and then reconsiders his philosophy of "life only being worth living if being loved by a child", and spends the last part of the movie helping other toys find children to be loved by).
Lotso represents who Woody could have been, had he not let go of his jealousy and resentment. Like Lotso, Woody had an insecurity about being replaced and lashed out, as a result. However, Woody realized the error of his ways and put aside his own insecurity about being replaced to bring Buzz back to Andy, even if it came at the cost of his own life. Meanwhile, Lotso let his anger over being replaced by Daisy guide him and ended up isolating Big Baby and Chuckles, since, if he couldn't have Daisy, then no one could. In addition, he put his own feelings of resentment above the hurt that all the toys feel. He had no qualms about letting other toys suffer, just to see them as miserable as him. Finally, when it came down to it, he was willing to abandon the other toys to die to save his own skin. At the end of it all, Lotso was a selfish, abusive, and utterly disgusting individual, who deserved every bit of the karma he got.
Woody.EXE was almost like this but I saved him from his trauma. He tells me, my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy his backstory and Mummy cried immediately as she comforts Woody.EXE. That was after the death of Queen Elizabeth II

@train4292 Let me expand on that, tge 4th installment while it had some ideas that are interesting, "tge ability for a kids love to bring life and the expanded toy world beyond the bedroom and daycare setting." tge overall damage to tge original casts characters and the expansion of yhe franchise after its possible good send off from the 3rd entry hurt the toy story movies more than it does help them.
Daisy didn't replace Lotso her parents did and the only reason why they had to do that is because she did love him
I would never replace my 2009 Woody because he’s been with me since I was 7 and it’s going to be my 21st birthday on Wednesday 20th July, 2023; the day of mine and Woody.EXE’s coronation. 15 years is a long time to have a toy and my 2009 Woody is very rare now

This guy is a fantastic villain and your analysis is spot on.
Lotso is loved in China. He is literally spray painted on some of the cars as body decals. The bear is sold in every toy store and gift shop over there. Insanely popular.
Lotso was basically the toy version of Hitler, or Stalin. He ran the daycare like a gulag, or concentration camp.
Their backstories were also similar too. In the case of Hitler:
- Had an angry, abusive father and a mother that loved him very much
- His younger brother died at a young age (Edmund)
- Tried to become an artist; gets rejected
- His mother dies soon after, drowning him in grief
- Lived on the streets selling postcards, lived in homeless shelters
- read anti-Semitic newspapers (common at the time in Germany and Austria)
- Became a soldier and nearly faced death, etc.
Lotso is such a cold hearted villain but he’s also a tragic one

You should've mentioned his fate. It's literally his own personal hell. He gets found at the dump by one of the garbage truck drivers, who states he used to have a version of Lotso as a kid, and in the next shot, Lotso's tied to the trucks grill. Taken in by someone who both values him, and treats him like trash.
Lotso Huggin' Bear. The broken, maddened and scarred teddy bear. Perhaps if he had at least a couple sessions of therapy, he could've been redeemed. But he simply couldn't return from the dark side without the love he once had.
He was like a Kingpin
It's ironic how Lotso boasts that toys are nothing but trash, but when he's on the conveyer belt about to be shredded along with all the other trash, he immediately begs for help.

Ah Lotzo. My favorite villain in the Toy Story movies. I wonder if the inspiration of his character and Sunnyside is of The Governor and Woodbury from The Walking Dead. They are all very similar

I don't think so, because the Walking Dead comics were around seven years before this film was released.

-PAL the cellphone lady ('The Mitchells vs. the Machines'-2021)
-Mojo Jojo ('The Powerpuff Girls movie'-2002)
-Bellwhether ('Zootopia' 2016)
In my opinion, Lotso deserves a more fitting punishment than just being tied to the front of a truck, especially after nearly sending Woody and friends to a fiery grave.
I also have a suggestion for a villain since it's almost Christmas.
Have you ever thought of doing a video on Hans Gruber from Die Hard, Colonel William Stuart from Die Hard 2 or General McCallister and Mr.Joshua from Lethal Weapon?
Him being tied to a truck with a bunch of other decaying, fly-splattered, moth-eaten plushies, was indicative of his fate. In many ways, a comeuppance that is slow and decrepitated is the worst kind of punishment possible.

That punishment was actually pretty poetic, considering it’s a distorted variation of what he wanted in life: to never be thrown away or abandoned. That truck driver is putting Lotso and others through negligent abuse unknowingly, while simultaneously loving them too much to rid himself of them, putting Lotso in a position where he is forever loved, but also suffers abuse at the ignorance of another (like the toys he put in the caterpillar room).
Yeah it would also be more fitting if Lotso actually saw them on the side of the road and saw how they witnessed his comeuppance. Then he’d really be outraged and unfortunate that he failed to kill them.
He’s the best character I like him

I personally think, yes. I think his negative traits were always there, but were tempered, because he had Daisy to love him and, thus, had no reason (in his mind) to lash out at the world. When Daisy was gone, it was all over.

Lotso is too well written, he’s so evil, so abusive, and so impossible to reason with, that he’s probably my most hated villain in all of storytelling. But the thing that pisses me off about him most of all, is the fact that in my opinion, he didn’t get a brutal enough punishment. I say he should’ve died at the end of the film, not just any death though. He punishment needed to fit his crimes. He needed the slowest, and most painful death possible. If I’d been one of the writers of this film, I would’ve had Lotso be killed in the incinerator, showing him slowly and painfully burning while he emits the most satisfying screams of pain you could imagine, before he completely disintegrates, and his soul is cast down into the fires of hell. It would be like Sarah Connor’s body burning in the nightmare scene of Terminator 2.
To be fair, he probably will die eventually, from wear and tear.

He reminds me a lot of Modi from India. He appears as a sweet, kind grandfather who gives hugs and is very friendly, but in his land, he places those he sees a lesser than him in camps and prisons.

True it’s just really hard to balance those qualities to make them (I speak from experience as a writer who’s first villain was meant to be both sympathetic and irredeemable)

Lotso used to be a good toy, and he smelled like strawberries. He was accidentally left behind by his owner Daisy, who got a replacement Lotso, and Lotso turned evil. He was gonna be my toy years ago, but no! After taking over Sunnyside as a leader, Lotso is also a prison warden and treats the other toys badly. One of Bonnie's toys, Mr. Picklepants called Lotso an evil bear who smells of strawberries.

Chuckles explains the backstory to Woody Latso was owned by Daisy on Christmas day he was special to her they did everything together they took a drive and play at the park after daisy slept and never came to him as he returned and realized he was replaced as Woody found out about this that Latso lied to chuckles and big baby and took over the daycare for himself woody realizes if Latso couldn't have his former owner no one would and led them to an incinerator hinting his cruelty and cold hearted and soon got owned by a garbage man who had a hugging bear since he's a child Latso was owned by the garbage man with other stuffed animals on the grill of the truck he was never seen again as Woody explained he's not worth it to be trusted Latso was portrayed by the late Ned Beatty the actor died in 2021

I could imagine if Lotso returned, he'd probably come with a massive army of toys who were abandoned and abused like some kind of toy terrorist clan ruled by dictatorship dedicated to capturing and making other toys go through misery and even hurting children mentally and physically. To make this theory simple, Lotso, the leader of his own cult, would be Adolf Hitler and his army of totalitarian toys will be the Nazi Party.

How'd the rest of the movie have played out if Woody explained to Lotso that Daisy was only 5 and it was her parents who replaced him because she loves him so much? What if Hishe's version of the film was canon?
Tbh I get how he snapped like that, he and daisy shared bond and trust and even after all of that, he was replaced, so he just snapped, he did exactly what any other toy would have done and thats why lotso is my favorite villain in Pixar.

Part of me wants to feel bad for Lotso, but I just can't, even with his backstory, he's still a heartless tyrant who doesn't care about anyone!
Also, I was talking to my mom about the replacement scene and questioning it, and she came up with a theory that Daisy's parents replaced Lotso in order to protect her, because she loved Lotso so much, which I can definitely understand if that's the case.

Why are he and stinky Pete so bad
They genuinely believe that a toy having an owner is a bad thing, but they both have different reasons. For Prospector Pete, he just thinks that toys should be glorified in a display case, even if it means they never get played with. For Lotso, he thinks that no human cares about a toy, and that toys are garbage waiting to be thrown away.
Lotso’s not worth it.
