No one remembers the 22nd defender, the cook, who died fighting with the soldiers.
Yes, you are right.. He was burried under the debris of lack of information flow.. But only a few years ago, i first read about him this 22nd Guy.. In a book authored by Capt. Amrinder Singh, CM Punjab.. Daad a Muslim follower of the 36th Sikhs.. He too went down with his small contingent... But then for reasons unknown why was he not awarded IOM the highest wartime award later Victoria Cross? Or maybe he just got burried under the great dust of time.. So sorry Daad.

Although the official number was 600. When the british battalion arrived to retake the fort. It is said that they found 1400 bodies! Thats 21 soldiers killing 1400 about 66 kills/person. That is something that I have not even achieved in a video game let alone a real actual battle.

The last guy Gurmukh Singh was a signals (communications expert). He was sending the battle details to the next fort. His last message was that everyone is dead and now he has to go and fight. All were give the highest medal of British empire (21 Victoria Cross)

I am from Ferozepur and I love to go to Saragarhi Gurudwara near the army cantonment board. Especially Sunday because we have grand Langar that day.
I love my Punjab, I love my people, I lovely country.
I lived in Ferozepur when I was young and my father was posted there. The gurudwara and saragarhi park does ring childhood memories.

1million.... impossible.... no one from time of Ashoka the great command an army of 1million to battle.....it was Ashoka who took 1 million soldiers to Kalinga and Chandragupta Maurya took 7lakh soldier's to defeat the greeks.... Mughals never commanded an amry more than 1lakh because they never had an standing army to command 10lakh
@@arunroy9997 Arun ji ,yes it was not 10 lac ,it was only an estimate but it is fact that 40 Sikhs were facing mughals as far as eye can see leading to estimate.It could be around 1 lac because apart from Aurangzeb's army 22 hill kings army was also helping him.

#Geeks, in India we call such battles as "ghan-ghor yuddh" where either the enemy is chased off or all men die fighting the enemy in the battle field. It is a no-retreat battle. India witnessed many such battles, especially during the Islamic invasion. At that time, when men went out for this final battle, women would prepare to self-immolate so that they are not taken as sex slaves (which the Islamists did as per the sanction of Quran; in Quran there are 4 verses where Allah sanctions rape of non-muslim women). This self-immolation was called "Jauhar". Perhaps the most saddening record of jauhar is self-immolation of about 13 thousand women in Gwalior after the flag fell in the ghan-ghor war.

In 1967 war with China an indian soldier named jashwant singh fought alone with the whole Chinese army, he killed around 300 of them and was martyred in the battle, it is because of him Sikkim successfully merged with india...

There was one more battle 40 Sikh soldiers vs 1 million mugals + army's of hindu phadi raja's battle of chamkaor sahib it's a fact that people just remember there was 10lakh mugals but also thousands of hindu phadi raja's which actually was helping mugals to fight with Guru ji they lost 11 times from Guru ji just because Guru ji helping people and people love Guru ji and following him even Hindus (bass kuch lalchi logon ki wajha se hmare Sahibzade sheed ho gye) Some times people don't care about anything but just a money

I'm sorry but I have one question - if 21 soldiers killed 600 people, that means a kill rate of almost 30 per person. So if the last guy killed 20, isn't that number a bit less than the rest?
Killing in hand to hand battle is different from shooting at a crowd of army from distance

And one more thing that you might not know , gurumukh Singh never killed an enemy before and it was his first ever encounter with enemy and first time he killed someone.
And also he was meant to be a messenger (for communication) not for the fights , yet he did the greatest possible job
