I was born into Hinduism. But if we had the right to choose our religion as we grew older, I would have certainly chosen Sikhism.
No offense to any other religion. But Sikhism is all about peace, love, respect, dignity, acceptance, sacrifice, and helping people in need. Sikh community is one of the strongest in the world.. for example you wont find even one begger from their community on the entire planet... Their brotherhood is such that they will stand one for other... They help them to settle in life and help them in one way or other... But they wont let their brothers beg on streets... They are the only community that have true respect of labour... You will find different people doing different jobs from same home... Elder brother may work in some garage as mechanic and younger brother will work in a multi national company with very high pay but still younger brother has the same respect for the elder brother as you expect... What moral values... Even in their Gurudwara you can see them contribute to society, they feed anyone who is hungry irrespective of their cast creed or religion or the social status... Salute to all the sikh brothers... We Indians are proud of them... The whole nation is indebted to them always... They are the true lion hearted people...

Our 21 Sikh soldiers fought with 10,000 Afghans and still managed to defeat all of them. This was the biggest win in my opinion. As Indians, this pieces of history will always remain in our hearts.

Indian history is filled with many such stories. Be it Sikhs, Rajputs, marathas, Cholas, Sathavahanas, etc... India went through a storm of invasions in the recent past 1000years, all because, of its 'richness' which it accumulated over the course even before anyother part of this world did. Because of these invasions, Indian heritage, its history, and its demographics gor changed wilfully. Nevertheless, India is now thriving ahead. All so called developed nations got 70 to 100 years of quick start over India, but we are catching up very quickly. I only wish youngsters do not take these sacrifices for granted.

Most people know that the Sikh community is one of the bravest communities in the entire world. They are widely known for their brave hearts, big charity services and respect towards all people irrespective of one's religion and caste. They are the first ones who quickly react during uncertain situations in India. They know how to respect and know how to teach respect to the evil souls when needed.
I feel really happy to read about all the greatness of the Sikh community all these years. No need to specifically mention the Sikh community food, clothing, hard work, and kind-hearted nature. Proud to have them in our Indian Army along with other brave brothers from other communities serving the country by putting their lives at stake.

Good to know info, these were first Indians to receive Victoria cross and this war is concluded in top deadliest war of history. The Battle of Saragarhi was a last-stand battle fought before the Tirah Campaign between the British Raj and Afghan tribesmen.[10] On 12 September 1897, an estimated 12,000 - 24,000 Orakzai and Afridi tribesmen were seen near Gogra, at Samana Suk, and around Saragarhi, cutting off Fort Gulistan from Fort Lockhart. The Afghans attacked the outpost of Saragarhi where thousands of them swarmed and surrounded the fort, preparing to assault it.[11] Led by Havildar Ishar Singh, the 21 soldiers in the fort-all of whom were Sikhs-chose to fight to the death, in what is considered by some military historians as the greatest last stand in history.[12] The post was recaptured two days later by another British Indian contingent.
