We had a bunch of different Massey-Ferguson tractors on our dairy farm in Ontario, Canada; but, the MF165 was my favourite, and I spent countless hours on it. My Dad purchased it new in 1971, I remember it being offloaded the day they brought it out to our farm, I was 10 years old. My Dad purchased it without the Multi-Power because he heard that feature had problems; subsequent tractors we owned had that feature and it worked fine. I suspect farmers were shifting the Multi-Power without using the clutch, when you did that the tractor lurched and I'll bet it was hard on it. Our MF1080 tractor had Multi-Power, I always used the clutch when I put it in "High" and it worked perfectly, never had a problem, and it was a great feature to have. We never owned the MF1155; but, we did have the MF1105 with air conditioning. People only had problems with the hydraulics on these tractors when they blew a hose to an implement, like a cultivator, or disc. The low oil in the hydraulic system then caused the failure, if you didn't top up the hydraulic oil like smart people should do. We had two such occurrences, one with the cultivator, the other with the disc, we immediately topped up the hydraulic oil before moving the tractor (and replaced the bad hose), and we never had a problem! My Dad was a smart man, he could fix anything, and I miss him very much.

I appreciate your videos. I cut my teeth on Massey Fergusons. My neighbor always told me this, "There is only one thing better than a Massey Ferguson and that is two of them!" My neighbor had a couple of 135's, a 175, a 255, a 1100, a 1150, a 1155 and the big 2805. It was a good time back then.

I operated an 1155 like this in 1973 - brand new - in west Texas, plowing dry-land cotton. Thought I was in heaven...inside a cab where I didn't have to breath the clouds of dirt. Got paid a whopping $22 a week.

I inherited my dad's 1150 V8 MASSEY FERGUSON about a 70 model I'm going to restore her to like new condition because I don't have a whole lot of money to restore to brand new condition. However she'll look real nice though. Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR

Once upon a time when these tractors weren't antiques, I drove around an MF 1155 that had broken in half at the clutch housing when it was coming out of a field. Stranded on the edge of a two lane black top road blocking traffic. I have no idea what caused the split other than it was not because of a vehicle hitting the tractor. I've always wondered if these tractors had an unstated weakness in the frame.
