In this tutorial, I go over how to improve your Punch the Clock drill and your Snatch. And why you should not keep your elbow straight at the top of the swing.

Thank you! Your explanations are so clear and concise. I have never thought about my swing mechanics before. It was all about getting it done. Now I need to work on correcting my form.

Another great video to add to the list.
The other three that you posted overnight are also very informative.
I really appreciate your methods of instruction. Thanks!

Thanks for this. It makes understanding efficient snatching so much easier. The best upload yet about not smacking your forearms on the snatch. No one has explained the dynamics so well before. As for the swing , its going to be only 'T Rex Swings for me from now on. From India!🙏🙏🙏

Thank you!!!! The "punch the clock" was a gamechanger for me and I stopped smacking my wrists, but this video helps a great deal too.I will try to use this in my one hand swing which I think is o.k but can always be better.

Awesome vid Kat 👍 Probably another reason so many YT coaches have no arm to torso connection as they're 'pulling' the bell up and too high and with a straight arm.

Thanks Kat! You're right. I couldn't get the punch clock drill and now I will have to work on my swings

That's a very valuable insight into your technique. I hope the swing training goes well! Did you notice what exactly was missing in the punch the clock drill for you?

@@KatsKettlebellDojo i guess I should record some videos to check what's wrong in the drill. But it could be easily me overthinking the drill and complicating it. I will let you know :)

It does turn out that I have straight arms+elbows during the swing and like you say it makes punching difficult with a straight arm. I'm working to fix the swings first and start this drill when I'm confident. Thank you sharing this!

Do you do it for years?

      Hi John,
The speed of learning strongly depends on a person, but no. It shouldn't take years. This drill is meant to work pretty fast (from one session to a couple of weeks).
Here is the thing that is VERY important to remember:
we would ONLY do this drill when we have already mastered the One Arm Swing, the Press, the push press, the clean, and all the movements that come before those (Deadlift, one arm Deadlift, TGU, dead clean, dead snatch etc).
This movement is not supposed to be difficult. But neither is it a beginner drill. It won't make a Kettlebell novice who has no foundational skills Snatch better, it will confuse at best, and injure at worst.
The novice has no business doing the snatch or snatch drills. They need to work on their basics.
So, to make long answer short, it shouldn't take years. It should take a pretty short time if one is applying this drill to a solid foundation of already-acquired skill.
If it feels very difficult, then one needs to revisit previous progressions (one arm Swing, one arm deadlift, clean etc)

@@KatsKettlebellDojo when I was talking about years I didn't mean the speed of learning sweetheart I was talking about the results of trainings and exercises.... And the speed of learning is very individual but it never takes years.... For smone it will be a few days for other one it will be a few weeks.... There are athletes that can learn such thing from one workout.... You miss understood me.... Or you are doing it specially... Whatever.... I already don't like our connection....
