    from experience using a block splitter leaves the cut edge very rough , however for me personally i like to use a 9" angle grinder with back ache. :P

      If the edges are rough, then either the blocks are soft (relatively speaking) or, more likely, the blades are dull. One of the most common "faults" I find when running 'improver' courses for block layers is that they are relying on the blades that came with the splitter when they originally bought it, maybe 10 years ago!

      @@TonyMcCormack Thanks for the video and also thanks for this tip. I was trying to figure out what kind of wet saw I needed when I found out about splitters.
      I'm hoping to rent one of these and I should figure in the possible cost of new blades!

      I used to use a concrete saw with a 14 inch blade but now I use an angle grinder with a 7 or 9 inch blade. The cut are far cleaner than that of a concrete saw and you can see more closely and smooth the edges more quickly. I think it's faster overall because if you're already down on your knees moving around trying To make cuts, you're already using a pencil and marking your papers so might as well not stand back up to Use a concrete saw period I'm very curious about this though because it seems dustless and quiet. the noise of the grinder or the conference saw alone are fatiguing and the dust is as well and also cancerous

    Does this cut angles in pavers well? Are those cuts clean?

    • @TonyMcCormack
      @TonyMcCormack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as long as the blades are keen and you're fairly adept in positioning.

      Yes - obviously depending on the frogs, but most should cut with a splitter.

    Wil this cut cement pavers?

    • @TonyMcCormack
      @TonyMcCormack  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and with ease. Clay pavers are, usually, much harder than concrete (cement) pavers, so if it can cut clays, it will easily cut concretes!

      If you identify the particular model you require, there should be a local or national distributor that can supply what you require.

    How is the final (or all?) pressure or blow delivered? Is it on a cam? Never knew these existed, only have mangled the hell out of brick trying the hammer method, or grinder cutting

    • @TonyMcCormack
