I feel like poor Touker offers to invest in like 70% of the pitches but no one ever picks him. He's got free office space too in case you didn't know . 😉
That's mostly because he always tries to get a huge chunk of the company, frequently more than double of what the contestants are willing to give away. You have Peter Jones there, that always asks for a higher percentage but mostly to allow for some wiggle room during negotations, while Touker frequently asks for 35, 40 or even 50% of the company, just based off who he is, as if bringing him on board is in any way a guarantee of success. Any reasonable entrepreneur would frown upon his demands, since such high percentages completely destroy their current valuation of the company and give him too much power in decision making, plus a big slice of the potential profits. And if contestants try to negociate more reasonable terms he immediately declares himself out. I don't dislike the guy, but his negotiating style is the definition of greed.
@@sorrenblitz805 I think he's just gauging the entrepreneurs. If they try to negotiate down, they have good spirit and might be worth investing. If they just straight up turn him down, he dodged a bullet.

100%, many people are so stubborn when it comes to equity %…like think about the other things you’re getting, a dragon will invest more time when they have 20% than 5/10%
Yeh I’ve never understood it. Sometimes he’s angry others times he says nothing.. I assumed it just depends whether he likes the business on offer or not
Not really-he has all the experience & logistical ability the guy needs in various areas, he has a top contact in the store he wants/needs to get into, can offer him lots of time & the guy has 100% of next to nothing as opposed to 80% of something huge.
It would be great if Dragon's Den could add value to this series for us by giving a summary of how each deal did or didn't proceed, and how the company fared. Seems this one didn't finalise, and by 2018 raw was in administration and merged with another company...and it was thought that the combined effort "might" make a success...so, for all the optimism, seems this 'Viking-window cleaner' didn't conquer the world, or even Sussex after all.
Can't believe the dragons warmed to this guy. The business must have been performing quite well then and they were informed beforehand. Sarah was the only one that picked up on his off attitude and was out from the get go.
Reminds me of the two hippies in The Simpsons who did the juice that Homer ruined. All ‘spiritual’ and easygoing, but with a ruthless, capitalist underbelly.
Instantly gave me the creeps... he's well worth keeping an eye on. His companies been bought by a " friendly " rival after running into financial difficulties.
A very good pitch by Guru Linus and one of the most interesting Dragon show .Quite puzzling that the panel did not question him on turnover & profit margin.Must be Linus Charm.
We get the edited version which is a lot shorter than the entire conversation. They for sure asked, so it must mean the editors found his personality more interesting than the numbers. And I agree
This does prove one thing. You don't need a clever business model, or a college degree. You need passion, and hard work. That's it. I mean his business is literally "I sell the best chocolate".
😂😂😂... Peter really wanted this one. He dug deep into his mind games to win over the fella. You noticed his benevolence in the beginning... Leaving the guy to muse on his overwhelming compliment... Wait for last then come in for the kill... But this guy was no ordinary chap.
Every other guy in the Den is pumped for numbers and projections. This guy... “You look and sound genuine, ill make u an offer”. Wish they had seen the backstage comments and joker dance :P
This strikes me as a fad product. People see it on the shelves, get intrigued, try it a few times, like it but not enough to justify the hefty pricetag, and then go back to buying the cheap stuff they're used to. This can probably make for a niche product in a much larger product portfolio, but I can't see it sustaining a business all on its own. I'm not at all surprised he went belly-up and had to sell out to a competitor.
He didn't sell out to competitor, he still owns the company and it's going great. It's also not a fad, many people are choosing raw food and pure ingredients these days
@@BigFatFarm The company went into administration (what we would call _receivership_ in America) back in 2018 and was bought out by a rival company. www.thegrocer.co.uk/restructures-and-receiverships/snack-brands-pastinos-and-raw-chocolate-co-appoint-administrators/570677.article
It’s very difficult to make cacao taste like chocolate without going over 118°F during fermenting, drying, roasting, or grinding. Conching is particularly difficult at such low temperatures, so it's debatable whether "raw" chocolate is really raw. You would certainly have to be hyper-vigilant about sourcing - Touker's advice about personally visiting suppliers is important here. You really have to make chocolate by hand on a small scale to be sure.
The way Peter help Debra win this deal... Touka`s personality was his Akilles heel and Peter saw this and went in for the kill and saved Debra of Troja.
Linus has got kahunas. The way he addressed Peter's offer was hilarious. Lol Good for him...shame the offer didn't go through with Deborah 😊 I noticed that they were taken over by a company called Conscious Chocolate in 2018 due to finance issues.
I like the way he said "yes" when asked if he was expecting to get offers like he did. It shows confidence but he didn't come across as arrogant at all imo. The dragons love that. Edit: I also like the way he told Peter how cheeky his offer was because it was. Touker then coming in and flashing the cash in an "I got more money than you" fashion which was a bit cheeky too. I think he went for the best offer which was definitely Deborah's offer. Peter was trying to get 10% for 18k and Touker trying to get 10% for 28k but the 10% is/will be more valuable than that.
I would have definetely asked the both of them to split their high offer, giving him much more expertise on board, even though it would have meant giving up a little bit. Since in the end when you have much higher demand that extra 10% isn't going to matter since you will still have the other 80% of the business
Exactly + his weirdo constant comments about how he "absolutely loves women especially Sarah" lol. Then he picks Deborah just to touch her by the looks of it, when clearly it was the worst offer...Proper creep.
So Linus accepted Deborah's offer because she wanted less equity (10%) and had a higher valuation of the company than Touker (500,000) and Peter (450,000) however he potentially missed out on Toukka's contacts in the retail and supply market (Mark and Spencers) which could expand Linu's business greatly, this may not be the worst deal if Linus thinks he can find a way to distribute...right?

He got the wrong deal. When a dragon shows that much interest you go with him.
100%, many people are so stubborn when it comes to equity %…like think about the other things you’re getting, a dragon will invest more time when they have 20% than 5/10%
Remember an episode where a guy declined 2 offers because they were 4 and 5% more than he asked for
So Peter isn't going to tell this guy he should have worn a suit?
Should he have? He got the offers and it was in part because they thought he was authentic.
@@ballswan No, but Peter has a track record of taking people to task for less than formal clothing choices. It does seem a bit arbitrary.
@@ballswan You cannot predict how these guys respond to the contestants They are so random
Yeh I’ve never understood it. Sometimes he’s angry others times he says nothing.. I assumed it just depends whether he likes the business on offer or not
@@retcon1991 I agree!
Peter: I bet you didnt expect that today did you?
Entrepreneur: Um, yes.
Peter: You did expect this today?
Entrepreneur: Yeah
Peter: Wow.
Man touker really wanted that. But 20% was too much
Deborah- £7200 for 1%, Touker- £5000 for 1%, Peter- £4500 for 1%.
When you scale to percentages, the difference is even bigger.
Not really-he has all the experience & logistical ability the guy needs in various areas, he has a top contact in the store he wants/needs to get into, can offer him lots of time & the guy has 100% of next to nothing as opposed to 80% of something huge.
@@Hi-kq1vi And he has office space in London. And lots of 'Touker time'.
Hi youre assuming that deborah has none of those things
@Anwar Darkazanli the fattest one

"I'd like to have all three of you"
Bet he's said that before...
Reminds me of the two hippies in The Simpsons who did the juice that Homer ruined. All ‘spiritual’ and easygoing, but with a ruthless, capitalist underbelly.
Ben and jerrys. The body shop. Google.
The deal with Deborah fell through, (due to disagreements about the company name), but the company looks like it's still going well.
It was taken over/merged by the female boss of a rival he is friends with back in 2017.
That's what he gets for choosing Deborah over Touker and Peter. What a dummy.
Actually he sold the company due to bankruptcy
One of the best Dragons den in a long time.
Instantly gave me the creeps... he's well worth keeping an eye on.

"I love women, God I love women"
OK. But do women love you?
Most likely...they love chocolate and he makes good chocolate.. there for plenty of hole time
The laid back man who will make a lot of money and has access the high quality chocolate, yes they do

Mans has 3 dragons going in for the offer without even speaking about his company’s financial position.
😂😂😂... Peter really wanted this one. He dug deep into his mind games to win over the fella. You noticed his benevolence in the beginning... Leaving the guy to muse on his overwhelming compliment... Wait for last then come in for the kill... But this guy was no ordinary chap.
Toukers face 12:06 had me dying 😂😂😂😂
Touker makes the best faces - he's always pouting at a good deal LMAO
😃😁
Every other guy in the Den is pumped for numbers and projections. This guy... “You look and sound genuine, ill make u an offer”. Wish they had seen the backstage comments and joker dance :P
The most vegan vegan, who ever did vegan.

"i think you will be super successful... for those reason, I'm out"

He started it in 2006 so did alright for over 10 years
He didn't sell out to competitor, he still owns the company and it's going great. It's also not a fad, many people are choosing raw food and pure ingredients these days
@@BigFatFarm The company went into administration (what we would call _receivership_ in America) back in 2018 and was bought out by a rival company.

Peter's offer screwed him, he could probably have gotten two dragons @ 72k for 6% (maybe 5%?) each.
“Im more drawn to Sarah at the moment”
Yeah me too, and im not pitching anything 😂
Yeah if he's acting like that I wonder whats in the chocolate lol
Nicks face when he heard 6%, he couldn’t believe that hocuspocus
It’s very difficult to make cacao taste like chocolate without going over 118°F during fermenting, drying, roasting, or grinding. Conching is particularly difficult at such low temperatures, so it's debatable whether "raw" chocolate is really raw. You would certainly have to be hyper-vigilant about sourcing - Touker's advice about personally visiting suppliers is important here. You really have to make chocolate by hand on a small scale to be sure.
You must be a chocolatier or a chocolate industry expert! I'm about to open a chocolate business and i know the experts when they talk
Unfortunately the deal fell through, for everyone who's wondering about the outcome of this!
The way Peter help Debra win this deal... Touka`s personality was his Akilles heel and Peter saw this and went in for the kill and saved Debra of Troja.
Am I alone in thinking the whole "The [insert function of business here] Company" naming convention is done to death?
Linus has got kahunas. The way he addressed Peter's offer was hilarious. Lol
Good for him...shame the offer didn't go through with Deborah 😊
I noticed that they were taken over by a company called Conscious Chocolate in 2018 due to finance issues.
What about the office space Touker could offer as well as the M&S
Why does every earth loving hippy look exactly the same?
As soon as Touker starts talking about “Touker time” you know he’s trying to screw you out of your company! He somehow has “Touker time” for everyone!
The way he had his hands on Debbie’s hips makes me think his intentions aren’t all business related
Exactly + his weirdo constant comments about how he "absolutely loves women especially Sarah" lol. Then he picks Deborah just to touch her by the looks of it, when clearly it was the worst offer...Proper creep.
Peter: well Lenus I bet you didn’t expect that today.
Lenus: err...yes
Peter: Did you?
Lenus: .....Yea...
That was class.
Never seen Deborah smile like that before, he must of slipped it in while he hugged her 😂
So Linus accepted Deborah's offer because she wanted less equity (10%) and had a higher valuation of the company than Touker (500,000) and Peter (450,000) however he potentially missed out on Toukka's contacts in the retail and supply market (Mark and Spencers) which could expand Linu's business greatly, this may not be the worst deal if Linus thinks he can find a way to distribute...right?
I met this guy at a festival once and he was really creepy
