Hey! A 22 year old zoomer here, bought Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam back on Dec 31 2019. I have 358 hours on record at the moment, I'd say around 15 - 25 of them is story mode (yet to finish it after all these years, I do have a problem with finishing singleplayer games due to a lot of factors, most prominent being ADHD). I'd say RDO isn't worth your time unless you have friend/s to play it with, social features are very underwhelming in this game (voice chat and emotes that cost $50-$300 in game or premium currency aka gold). This game is unreasonably grindy unless you put real money in, most content is locked behind "roles" which you need to unlock by paying gold and gold grind is very slow, it's possible to unlock everything but it will most certainly take a lot of time. That being said, if you get through the grind or simply buy gold to unlock said roles - RDO has a lot to offer: from hunting wildlife to turn it into goods for sale, to hunting bounties with a big jail-wagon, to setting up your own moonshine shack to sell, distribute and serve moonshine in your private bar (if you get drunk inside the bar you can slap other players). RDO is a lot of fun with friends and has much potential what ultimately made me very disappointed at rockstar when they've stopped updates to the game.
Hello! Thank you for helping a 30 year old millennial save money with your detailed analysis. I just love RDR so I was thinking seriosly of buying just the online mode, without the story, given that I am switching from PS4 to PC and that I already finished the story mode many years ago. If I didn't have to pay so much to unlock these basic features you said, or if grinding wasn't that hard, then I think it would be well worth acquiring just the online mode in my case. But it seems that the story mode continue to be the way that is worth spending time/money in this game, even because I dont have friends to play with.
I’ve played red dead story since it came out for both games. I’ve easily logged over 4000 hours. Total in red dead to at least over 1500 in story as I have 98% completed it and the rest in online easily as I’m over level 425 since day, one beta me and my friends were devastated when they stopped the online updates
Switched from PS4 to Series S a while back, I'd buy the game again but they don't have progression transferring or 60fps, and i genuinely don't feel like grinding again for everything my character used to have
It do be sad that moneyhungrystar left such a masterpiece in the dirt.. everyday i do a prayer for some new stuff that just appears maybe on a lucky day wich ofcourse wont happen. But i enjoy it still everyday. Great content video with tons of info for new/current players. But the pc side of things is such a mess with the modders but it does get better nowadays.

I have over 3000 hours of rd2 i will never forget how amazing this game was, i wouldn't have learned English if it wasn't for this game. It was so fun playing with friends everyday doing daily missions, messing around, griefing other players. Unfortunately over the years many players ended up migrating to other games due to lack of updates and after Rockstar announced they wouldn't update it anymore most of the players left the game including me. Sometimes I still get on rdo but its not the same without the og's.
I was level 250 something. The very moment they announced they were cutting support for the game is when I stopped playing and haven't returned since. I still think about how much I loved this game online from time to time, but without fresh content there's no goal and point to any of it.
I heard that they will come back to red dead redemption online after the release of gta6 since most of the workers are working on it but I'm not 100% about that
Thanks for the review. I was looking into getting the game today. It's on discount and I figured I'd gift myself a couple games for the holidays. Looks like I'll settle for the basic game.
Years ago, spent hours collecting pelts. On my way back to town to sell them...was killed with one shot, hilarious. Never played again. BTW have played story 9 times.
Honestly the online is just for those hardcore red dead players to continue playing with their own character after the story. And the reason everything costs more in online is because you are assumed to be a veteran at that point. Things costing 8 dollars in the story was amazing to me, especially because I always had like $400 on me daily. Just makes online better for vets to actually earn.
i have 9700hours in total from both story and online still playing religiously to this day however if it wasnt for my friends id have quit long time ago,im rank 1000 on my main with 2million dolars and 3700gold and recently a few months ago i started a new account and currently rank 444 with 300k cash and 940gold ,despite what anyone says im still hooked to the game like when it launched and yes it gets boring from time to time but when that happens i visit other games
I have about I think 660 hours from online (surprised myself too). I’ve played this game for soo long I could make a well detailed list of bugs to be fixed and new content that would be added. This game could be even better and make more cash if rockstar would just add more content. I’d pay real money if they would at this point if it means actually supporting the game
307 Hrs in total with 200 Hrs in story mode and about 107 Hrs in online, I unlocked all roles and hit rank 132 in online in this time though. The online in RDO is less of a chore than in GTA and is a lot of fun if you have some friends to play with which I did not sadly.
As someone who has just played rdr2 for the first time this weekend. I made it decently far between the story and online. And i can say i will probably revisit the story mode rather than online next sit downs.
The only issue with this game is no updates otherwise it's good for new players and old alike if you are playing this after a long long time because it's got a good story and rich and detailed world to interact.
Even I, as someone who normally avoids multiplayer games, really enjoyed playing Red Dead online. When the game came out for the PC, I even played it every day for 1 or 2 years. But when they stopped releasing content at some point, it quickly ran out of steam...
The difference between GTAO and RDO is that in GTAO you can actually make it where as in RDO it's geared towards you relying on the store to buy gold haven't played since release but that's what it was
@@robertbaughman7983no, but it is more enjoyable with people. there’s no private lobbies like with gta though so if you do get a lobby with no one in it, that’s good to grind as no one will bother your supply runs and sales
It’s still worth playing because of how well made the game is entirely. It feels like an extra adventure mode to the story rather than a full blown online space. They made a great foundation but never built the house on it. I still love it.
If they took care of Red Dead 2 online like GTA V might’ve been one of the coolest things ever. I really was hoping that would have big multi stage 4 person robbery’s and heists with hideouts and your own house and stuff.
all im asking is for them to add battle eye to red dead online. the game is seriously fun when people dont use mods to spawn lions or bears literally on top of you, or trap you in a cage that also spawned from thin air, then sending 500 pinkertons to shoot you in the cage. Now this game is just dead af, both in player count, content, and fair player base. i dont think there is a single lobby where everyone plays clean.
Not gonna lie I love it ! As the video said it’s relaxing and realistic and you can literally just jump on for an hour after work and do a mission or two and mess about for a bit . Money and rewards do build up without you releasing and the roles which aren’t mentioned are the best part of the game. There’s always something to do and it’s nice to feel like your own outlaw in the word.
They need to add trains with money and banks you can rob in free roam, but not make it to easy, make it to where there will be a lot of lawmen that will be on the scene, so you could rob it with a whole group
I probably have about 500 hours in the story mode and about 100 in the online mode. I enjoy online but don’t feel like I’m working towards something due to not being able to buy/ build a house of some sort. The camp system just feels boring.
im 15 and have played rdr 2 online. it seems more calm than GTA V online where there was the stupid flying bike with no wheels and everything is more expensive than the game itself
I still hop on with mates. Even got a few converts in the last few months. But I've got over 600 gold and $60k. Nothing to spend it on. It's disappointing
I just started playing games online like 3 weeks ago. I'm 37, but was never really interested in playing online. I started with gta5 and kept getting killed by people for seemingly no reason. I had enough of that real quick. I then tried rdr2. It has been much better, only ran into 1 player so far that seemed to need to kill for no reason.
i started playing RDR2 2 month ago... Ive got over 200 hrs in story and probably 20 hrs online, if that. I find myself just roaming around in story mode for days and days without doing any of the actual story...
Its good because its more realistic playing with not such a huge player base., theres still players i just started again from beinging and played with a good few low levels thats only in 2 online matches. People are coming as they grow up and learn about games. Its just a time limit on the servers not the population.
Back when the game first came out I hopped online. Griefers were everywhere and totally ruined the experience. I still play story mode and love it but won't go back online.
I want a chest in my camp or a bankbox where I can store more herb stacks or whatever I’m working on, fishes maybe meat. Why don’t we have a bankbox and a bank in town to rob ?
Ngl i gave it a shot it is actually way better den gta i happened to have the trader bought with 14 gold now i am gonna get bounty hunter role earn gold and cash than buy moonshiner role. I am content to put hours into this. I just want a 60 fps update
I still think its worth it if you wanna try it, there are some glitches but its not ruining the game and its just aa lovely game to play, you wont regret it after you have bought it!
Lets not forget the fact that, the stable glitch is not fixed and whatever tricks to bypass is not working for me :(. Too many glitches. Horse vanishes all a sudden, huge time gap between mission selection and launch. map navigation sometimes wont work. I have a very good internet connection and still this happens. Sometimes feeling frustrated to play. RDR2 on the other hand is the best game ever !!!!
Basically, if you have friends and like rdr2, you're going to have a lot of fun and laugh a lot, at least in my case, but if you're alone, just go to story mode.
RDO has better combat, through the faster player movement and more enemy variety (Throwable and projectile enemies) RDR2 might have a good story but combat isn't the priority, so RDO fills the gap for me to enjoy combat more, specially with quick switch on the PC hotkeys, I always try to play stylishly as I love Ultrakill and DMC. I have played RDO a lot more than RDR2 and enjoyed it more, but I guess I'm just one

Its a shame rockstar killed possibly the best online they could have done just because of their laziness.. rockstar excels at story games but when it comes to online its just to grindy
RDR2 online undead nightmare would be a infinite money glitch
The only thing I like to do is have a backstory and stuff for my character, and whenever he's in a cutscene i just imagine him talking back, it's not as immersive than if they actually cared about the game and implemented systems, but still.
i only got like less than 10 cheaters in this game tho. and all they did was teleport everyone into one saloon and spawn some dead naked woman, its crazy
RDO is a lot of fun with friends and has much potential what ultimately made me very disappointed at rockstar when they've stopped updates to the game.
you have an anime pfp, you don't have the right to talk, stfu
I find it annoying that they have never found a way to bring back the gear from the outlaw passes so new players will never get them
It was the dead aim on mutiplayer that me stop playing it. Not able to get one shoot off is going to piss off a lot of players.
Switched from PS4 to Series S a while back, I'd buy the game again but they don't have progression transferring or 60fps, and i genuinely don't feel like grinding again for everything my character used to have
Hopping on with the boys tn for the first time in 3 years
I love how the the footage at 1:18 is modded Days Gone
I felt like it seemed familiar
I felt like it seemed familiar
I played 237 hours on the Red Dead Redemption 2 story with only 7 hours on online
I'm not the only one then haha
l321 has evolved damn i remember when you only made bo2 mod menu vids
It do be sad that moneyhungrystar left such a masterpiece in the dirt.. everyday i do a prayer for some new stuff that just appears maybe on a lucky day wich ofcourse wont happen. But i enjoy it still everyday. Great content video with tons of info for new/current players. But the pc side of things is such a mess with the modders but it does get better nowadays.

me and my friend just started playing 3 days ago, pretty fun so far
I'd rather play the story mode than online these days, rdo is not like back in 2018-2020 during its golden days.
The online mode is for playing with friends and it is a great sandbox for that
I have over 3000 hours of rd2 i will never forget how amazing this game was, i wouldn't have learned English if it wasn't for this game.
Find some new ogs
I was level 250 something. The very moment they announced they were cutting support for the game is when I stopped playing and haven't returned since. I still think about how much I loved this game online from time to time, but without fresh content there's no goal and point to any of it.
Rolled wit a deep posse we made from scratch, our story ended quite similar to the main story, some good ol times
I heard that they will come back to red dead redemption online after the release of gta6 since most of the workers are working on it but I'm not 100% about that
That will convince me to go to rdr online. Been gta 5 online for many years. Getting tired of it. I play solo
@@chuckh4077they should because I want some horse mask red dead is still active I miss the passes
@Kvramaxo I'm playing rdr2 online today. Level 5. Long travel times between mission points. So playing online can be time consuming.
What always draws me back to RDO is your character, guns, horses and the fact that death means nothing here (unlike GTAO).
I would love for them to bring all the clothes, guns and horses to story mode tho
i have 9700hours in total from both story and online still playing religiously to this day however if it wasnt for my friends id have quit long time ago,im rank 1000 on my main with 2million dolars and 3700gold and recently a few months ago i started a new account and currently rank 444 with 300k cash and 940gold ,despite what anyone says im still hooked to the game like when it launched and yes it gets boring from time to time but when that happens i visit other games
There I subscribed, happy now lol even liked the video.
now only real rdr fans are playing rdr online. not normal gamers those who think rdr is just a normal game
Couldn’t of said it better 🎉
Literally
Im a real rdr fan. Played both games several times. Why should i play the shiddy online mode?
@@Schmankman91Its more enjoyable with other people. Also some gamers like the grind believe it or not.
They just dropped the ball by not adding content like heist in gta online or really anything great but the potential was there.
As someone who has just played rdr2 for the first time this weekend. I made it decently far between the story and online. And i can say i will probably revisit the story mode rather than online next sit downs.
Kann ich verstehen, habe auch kein Bock im Online Modus ständig abgefarmt zu werden .
The difference between GTAO and RDO is that in GTAO you can actually make it where as in RDO it's geared towards you relying on the store to buy gold haven't played since release but that's what it was
I can't find anyone else online every time i go on..
Exactly . It’s empty space with nothing going on .
It's dead because Rockstar abondoned it
I just started rd2 online and I’m lost, do you NEED a group to play the game?
I've just started back playing...
@@robertbaughman7983no, but it is more enjoyable with people. there’s no private lobbies like with gta though so if you do get a lobby with no one in it, that’s good to grind as no one will bother your supply runs and sales
I don't remember clicking a red dead 2/gta comparison video but that's what I got.
2:43 "ROIT, OLD ON" 🥶
Logged on today after ages. Couldn't spawn a horse, couldn't spawn a camp. Quit after 10 minutes 🙃
1:19 this had me laughing my ass off for no reason 😭
It’s still worth playing because of how well made the game is entirely. It feels like an extra adventure mode to the story rather than a full blown online space. They made a great foundation but never built the house on it. I still love it.
i would say yes definitely! it can be a little boring and dull by yourself but even with one friend the fun goes from a 6 to a 9!
It could've been the best selling game and online game of all time if they actually cared about it
I probably have 1500+ hours in story mode and like 6 online.
I still play online and story. Story is amazing still and plenty to do. No other games single player comes close in my opinion
Bloom and weapon sway is the only thing I dislike about this game. They should’ve kept it the same as the first game.
That new Halloween update for GTA Online is the closest we’ve gotten to Undead Nightmare
0:40 about that...
Wait it's being updated?
With one or more buddies that game really shines.
The fact the video has this many views in this amount of time says it all
They need to add trains with money and banks you can rob in free roam, but not make it to easy, make it to where there will be a lot of lawmen that will be on the scene, so you could rob it with a whole group
This game should have offline DLC to the max. From stories about indians to more robbing stuff and other crazy django storylines. so much potential.
I probably have about 500 hours in the story mode and about 100 in the online mode. I enjoy online but don’t feel like I’m working towards something due to not being able to buy/ build a house of some sort. The camp system just feels boring.
First video I’ve seen from you and I’m subbed, ur funny af and ima defo binge ur vids tomorrow
Thanks man! Appreciate that
It’s all good, ur vids r amazing, slept in so didn’t get the chance yet 😂😂😂
That's it, I'm just going to load my game install up with as many cool mods as I like and never bother with online.
im 15 and have played rdr 2 online. it seems more calm than GTA V online where there was the stupid flying bike with no wheels and everything is more expensive than the game itself
Go learn how to box like arthur, itll be worth it!
I used boosters to get 100 mill in that game. Didn't get banned. Love it.
I still hop on with mates. Even got a few converts in the last few months. But I've got over 600 gold and $60k. Nothing to spend it on. It's disappointing
This was exactly the video I needed to see.
i have beaten the story mode in rdr2 on all platforms and now im just starting it on pc best game ever never got into the online 2 much
I just started playing games online like 3 weeks ago. I'm 37, but was never really interested in playing online. I started with gta5 and kept getting killed by people for seemingly no reason. I had enough of that real quick. I then tried rdr2. It has been much better, only ran into 1 player so far that seemed to need to kill for no reason.
It’s definitely worth playing however it’s best played with a group of friends to make up for the lack of content.
if we ever get a dlc it should be like the backstory of arthur or what really happened in blackwater that would be amazing
LOVE YOUR REVIEW VIDEOS MAN, YOURE SO ENTERTAINING AND GOOD!!
Appreciate that man!
@@L321 no problem bro!
i started playing RDR2 2 month ago...
I have about 800 hours (mostly online) in this game and I'm still yet to finish the story mode.
Appericate this because i think about getting this game.. looks fun
I often find myself switching from online back into story mode
Ive played 300+ hours in online and 100 in story(I bought the online version first and a few months later the story)
