Hi,is this Ron Griffin? If not, you sound a lot like someone I used to know!
@@gillianharper-ward7877 I'm not Ron ... I'm John 😂
@LondonCityWalks ha ha, at least it rhymed ! Hello John 👋🏼
Always do, John!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦 PS, who is watching while on her lunch break before giving a private riding lesson!
hi John. Yep, i believe your correct, horse is TALAH. Matches my pics, he also has a small vertical scar on his neck, just above that gold/brass thingy on the breastplate. Also noticed Tabago is a gelding, saw his 'sword' at the changeover.
The horse that quit must be a newbie. i have pics but no name. Have a great day and thanks again for the fantastic videos!
I have noticed in several videos an older gentleman that stands near the arch where the concession stand is and the Gatesman or Chitsman stand, I get them confused. Anyway, this older man will discourage people from going too far under the arch. Holds his arm out to block. I like him. They obey him too!
He's a veteran, former trooper I think
I love your commentary John, it’s so funny, I can’t stop giggling. Thank you for the entertainment. 👍😂
He's a former trooper I think. He definitely is a big help keeping people out of there
@@foxybabe20036175indeed this old man is a veteran, seen him often guarding the arch where the Gates man stands to keep tourists out of the arches
@@foxybabe20036175they should hire him and some more veterans to help police the yard.
Wonderful to see the young lady curtsy to the guard and thank him. Great respect!!
First time any of us had ever seen that. Loved it TBH.
I love it when people come up to you . I can only imagine that you turned red when she said that she was looking for you. You always do a great job of filming. You are my favorite.
Didn't Bruce Forsyth used to say that
@@helenhallwood3580 He did , on Strictly Come Dancing 😂. Nice to see you , to see you nice 😂😂😂
Sooooo cheesy!!!
The reason she curtsied is because these are the King's horses, and she's showing her respect to the Monarchy. If she is from Ireland, that's part of the UK. Gotta love that kind of respect!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
Always love your comments.
@@user-qi6yo7xt4l Thank you. Just explaining why she curtsied, that's all. Jenn 💖
Only 😅Northern Ireland is part of UK. Ireland is not, it’s part of EU
Huh?
She curtsied because she’s a confused person who doesn’t realise that the soldier is just a Trooper in the armed forces
The horses don’t belong to the King,
No British person should curtsy to a soldier!
@@bewildered75 Again, the horses are considered the King's property as they are also Troopers who protect the King. Therefore, she is showing respect to the Monarchy. Geez, Louise!! Here we go again!! Another diatribe from an idjit!! John, PLEASE, or one of the other Moderators of this channel, get rid of this guy!! He mocks every monarchist statement and tradition shown by these hard-working soldiers!!
There ought to be a law that protestors cannot by law block the public highways, streets, or thoroughfares.
There is. The police just don’t enforce it. Protests are not supposed to impose on other peoples rights.
Britain is far too soft and these so-and-sos know it.
Right…..OK……I can see that !
Have seen Hydrabad at his retirement home today in a short. He looked very happy galloped of with a little kick in the air. He is lucky to be at the Horses Trust. Felt sad when I saw it but happy he is already enjoying his new life already.💖
Great pictures of him , love the joyful kick 😀. He's joined his stable mates , Kilimanjaro , Knightsbridge , Kimberly , Harvester , Jaipur, Iago , Incognito , Legolas and Odin . Party time 😂😂😂
@@kathellison8084Wellington is there too ❤
So much cuteness in that one clip. I love the way he looked to both sides to see where everyone was after his initial gallop then that second little kick as he went over the hill. 💕🐴
Was it John who posted this or someone else? If so where please?
@glenysharley4150 it's on the Horse trust website
Good morning John. No protests should be allowed in front of the horses!
I don’t blame the horse. Putting up with all that.
He was telling the rider to get this bit out of my mouth it's uncomfortable and I hate it.
43:00 Lol the Lord Lieutenant was flabbergasted when you asked him which country 🤣
I mean I'd never seen his uniform before, so... 😂
All these clowns need to be told, “this isn’t DisneyWorld, you didn’t buy a ticket to act like an idiot here”. Just watching your videos, I feel such a sense of reverence being around these walls , these buildings, and these guards. At least I do when it’s quiet. Breath taking. 😮😮😮😮😮😮
Beautiful opening again. Thanks for bringing Horse Guards and London Sites to those of us outside of the UK.
Amen! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’m from Newfoundland, Canada, we’re a commonwealth of England, I love to watch your channel,
The smell comes from the electrolytes that they give the horses in their water. Because most of them are in standing stalls but can lay down still, they need to drink more. Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
He’s a lovely old gentleman bless him ❤
Thanks for clarifying where the German bodies end up John! Lol 😂 Too funny as always.
The Chits mans jacket is all open at the bottom John so probably told he is inappropriately dressed
Good day John. I looked up Sangin (if that is how it is spelled) and refers to the Sangin district in Afghanistan that the British forces had occupied. An intensive military engagement occured between the Taliban and the British forces. The siege of Sangin 2006-2007. Since it was mentioned that some horses named after battles, perhaps that is where the name came from? I could be wrong, have been before, just a guess.🤔
Yes, Sangin. I think the only reason I remembered the Afghan link was one of the trooper's mentioning it to me before.
What a respectable lady there should be more of this !
Thank you John for your Video ❤🏴🇬🇧🕊
She was lovely wasn't she , I've seen a Japanese lady bow to the Trooper before 😊
I’m a new follower and after watching a couple of other gents who attempt to do what you are doing, I find your posts to be the most entertaining to watch. Also you move very smoothly, i don’t feel like I’m walking with the bounce of the camera, which I find very distracting. I love your “TADA’s!”
Yes. John's videos are so much better for the explanations of what's going on. Plus I watched another site and I felt so travel sick with the bouncy movement of the camera. Thank you John
Very kind of you Sandi - thank you! A warm welcome to the Channel! ❤
Now that was something new I’ve never seen anyone curtsy or bowed to the guards how respectful, very very respectful❤❤❤
Oh my days, you crack me up with your innuendos and taking the mick. My hubby thinks I’ve gone mad laughing to myself. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Maybe they could consider putting Horse poo on the Bollards where they choose to sit in front of the Guard ,😊
My ex husband did that with dog poo along our fence to stop the schoolkids swinging on it , it worked 😂😂😂

Totally agree 👍 think we are so use to seeing so much disrespect it is a total pleasure to see something like that, what a lovely lady.
Afternoon John , I don't blame the beauty he's had enough of tourists.
Another beautiful day before the tourists ruin for everyone else
The replacement horse looked as if to say, do I have to go in there before being lead in.😊😊😊😊❤❤❤

Oooh la la John, rubbing shoulders with the personal representative of the monarch 😮😮😮
The horse in the right hand box facing the gate looks like he would like to fall asleep.
I know, his/her head just kept getting lower...and lower...and lower...😴 What a sweetie!💜
Great videos. I find these wonderful videos a therapy for my depression. Thank you.😊
As someone who has been there, the one thing I will suggest is forcing yourself into social contact, whatever your mood. Along with exercise and a balanced diet, it makes THE WORLD of difference mate. I can promise you that!
Tobago, definitely a male name. Beautiful elegant gelding. It's certainly an insult to be called French if you're not.
considering what's going on in the world most folk aren't too happy with germany either

That is so rude when they sit in front of the guard!!😡
All that traffic fumes will really reduce the carbon footprint and clean air in London 😂😂😂

I am fed up with all the protesting that is going on every Sunday.
I know what you mean but at least people still have the right to.
@@christinewhitfeld7939 That is true but what is the point in this particular protest as most people are not only fed up with it, but it is not doing any good.
@@phoebebrown2883 yes. You're right . But let's not give up freedom of speech.... It's being gradually whittled away as it is . I do take your point though❤
It’s most likely on Saturday that annoying Pro Palestine happened
And Saturday, it's a waste of time England can't do anything for this situation.
Oh my John. I'm in Virginia United States. Today is Wednesday. They are having a big Pro Palestine Protest at the University of Virginia College in Charlottesville. I thought we were immune and it only happened in London lol. It's not as large as you have there.
Pro Palestine protesters took over a building at Columbia University in NYC
There are Palestinian protests on college campuses all over the US right now.
I’m in US also. It’s heart breaking to see what’s happening in our country. Never dreamed to see this happen in my lifetime. And all these school shooting. 😢😢😢
The protest are all over the campuses here in the U.S. My thought is why don't the protesters organize to raise funds for aid to the people's in Gaza most have lost everything. That would be far more effective than protesting.
John, what the heck? Is this Prank Day. Never seen so much craziness on your videos. I love a good nipper day, and occasional rude person, but this is nerve wracking. 😮😮😮😮
Hi John, another great video thanks. The Lord-Lieutenant, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE presented a Damehood today to Shirley Ida Conran British novelist and journalist, who is very ill. Please google the story, it's quite sad.😪
You inspired me to read up about her. Great article in the Daily Mail. Being too ill to travel, she received her damehood in her hospital bed.
Interesting bit of trivia: she coined the phrase “Life’s too short to stuff a mushroom”
@@DJKSB58 Glad you were inspired to read about it.🙂
That was amazing Lord Lieutenant wow.
My friend received his OBE this morning for contribution to football and reconciliation in Northern Ireland, so exceptionally proud of him for that xxxxxx
Wow! Total respect from the girl at the box today! 😊
Since the MOD have decreed that it is no longer an offence for troopers and other ranks to sport beards, the amount of troopers sporting beards on the major generals inspection in Hyde Park was amazing, personally i agree with this decision, the farriers on parade were particularly 'furry'.
What a fine, distinguished, looking man in that decorated uniform. Proud to receive a new title from the king himself too. Such grace, respect, from the young lady who curtsied. Lovely
Hilarious today your comment the people get taken in the cart through those gates and don't make it back brilliant still laughing. Also horse came out saw traffic and headed straight back couldn't make it up. 2nd horse not happy either
That’s my line “no sh_t Sherlock” can’t help saying this when someone says something profoundly unbelievable lol

Superb viewing, love to watch all of it.many thanks to everyone involved. Regards, Ian from windsor.
Stop the stick jokes I nearly choked. Hahaha😂
I love the lady Officer. She does her job so well & firmly & doesn’t take any crap from anyone. One Horse says “NOPE Not today.” Well we all know that feels. Congrats on meeting the Lord Lieutenant of London. Pleasant chap.
There is no way she’s that afraid of the horse. All the she did was touch the Lady’s shoulder and she ran off and a half he.❤❤
On catch up thank you John for actually making me smile today . 🙂
Good morning John. Have a lovely day. Stay safe 🌹🇺🇸
This group has the prettiest greys I've ever seen.
i used to own and ride a point to pointer, who i used to race, he was called rawcliffe, he always used to race with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. He was a 17.3 hand bay gelding, he was a sweetie hacking out, he was however a nightmare in the hunting field, he used to gallop with his head down and plait his front feet, i have lost count of the times we fell because of this trait.
The Lord Lt. was great to see! Thanks for chatting with him. I get in trouble out here on other TH-cam vids for showing excitment about seeing participants of color, but, in the area I'm in here in America, as a person of color myself, it's still very exciting to see the inclusion. So, I hope I don't offend people for expressing this happy observation. AND, that box is what I call "The Ghost Box."
As a fellow person of color, I always get excited too! Especially notable because he’s been given such an important role as a personal representative of the monarch.
I'm delighted that I met the Lord Mayor and that such a fine and polite fellow was representing our King this morning. It was definitely the highlight of my morning!
@@LondonCityWalks The Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, John, not the Lord Mayor. Sir Kenneth Aphunezi Olisa OBE CStJ FRSA FBCS - his CV is so very impressive.

I recoginized the Lord Lt straight off as he was featured in the the news with the King outside University College Hospital. What a video! A bit of everything. The man passing through from Buckingham Palace was gorgeous. He really gave you the "once over" as you approached him. He was beautifully attired. That has been one active video. People from America showing up to visit you. You were a bit "touchy" with the Germans. One young man was in disbelief as he stared at the uniformed soldier. That was touching, really, because he was very young, even though he looked older because of his height. And your opening was marvelous with the scenes of the fountain. The stars aligned today. Good one.
John, you are a great story teller!!! You really need to write a book or something! You're super! Thanks for your stories and your facts!
cool fact, the lord lieutanants are of equal status to the monarch! They are officially representatives of the moarch and should be treated with the same level of respect
No they aren’t!
The monarch is the Head of State.
It’s an honorary position that can be removed from the holder by the monarch
@@bewildered75 they are to be treated with the same respect as they are the monarchs official representative so in a regard yes, they are

Today was really odd all the way around! It seems like the last week or so the horses have been increasingly more jumpy and easily startled and the atmosphere more and more tense. Tempers have been quick and the M.O.D. aren’t having any foolishness, some of them you can see the edge in their faces. Idk, maybe I’m projecting because things here in the US seem to have gone off the rails with the protests, it just seems like they’re getting more intense there too. Oh well, the horses are still spectacular, the guards magnificent and I’m happy to watch!😻🐎❤️
Good morning ,John. Glad it is a fine day for you. Thank you for or intertaining pod cast.🇳🇿
Hi John. Watching Police and Guards shocked when horse... I think the horse in chitsman's side about 11:30 was Tellah (not sure of spelling). At first I thought it might be Sparta, but after you ID'ed it as Tellah, I saw it's star and socks were a better match in my notes. Thanks for naming the new horse Tobago. What a beauty!
Definitely confirmed as being Talaa : )
I pointed out to the officers at horse guards about the wall of buses and the horses freaking out. one you filmed last year did the same thing when a load of buses parked all the way past horse guards all front to back all the way along with no gaps between them, and the tourists came out of the yard and were brushing up against the horse trying to get past the horse and tourists coming from the other direction as well, along with the ones standing looking at the horse. quite often the horse will look up above the tourists heads and can see all the way over the road, but when the buses are like that it forms a wall practically in front of the horse and they are closed in

Being an anarchist today is like asking to free all horses and other domesticated animals. Where would they go, how would they survive when we advance on their territories? It's ridiculous. The lady who shows the black flag is a utopian person, almost from a fairy tale.
This is the best episode yet.
I can't get over the number of European students on field trips to London. I took my students every year on trips but no further than points in New York City. I live in the suburbs of NYC. I'm sure that you have seen on international news all of the disruption pro-Palestine protests are causing on US college campuses. That London traffic was horrific. Tobago is a very handsome horse. Thanks for a great video. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
As a Western Australian, I'm so envious when I see the European students on school excursions in London then remind myself of just how easy it is for Western Europeans, in particular, to just "pop over" to the UK for a few days. With ferries, short plane rides, high speed trains using the Chunnel, etc., it's a very easy trip to make. Even getting to the eastern states of Australia from West Australia is either an expensive plane ticket or a 2-4 day drive (bus or car) and that's not even getting out of the country.
